2-piece / detachable slider for general canopy
gowlerk replied to RichyR's topic in Gear and Rigging
I just scrapped a canopy with a split slider. PM me your address, I'll mail it to you for the price of postage. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
Lee, the word you were looking for is "than". I love your posts, your spelling is part of your charm. Don't correct yourself anymore, just go with it. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

It's not really about party's and seats. It about change and progress. I actually believe conservatism is an important element in society. It is true that too much change too quickly is disruptive and probably destructive as well. But what I'm talking about is the angry gnashing of teeth and insulting behavior shown by many people on the right. Things like referring to people as being "butt hurt" when they disagree for example. I mean seriously, how can you take someone who talks like that seriously? I'm talking about how they revert to school yard type actions when they are offended. And how easily they do get offended. And why society keeps moving further toward progress while a minority dig their heels in and resist change. In these time all the good things are coming from areas of the world that tend toward progress. And tend toward liberalism of some sort. This is why Clinton wins the popular vote, and why even though they have won this election they are frustrated at every turn. http://ipolitics.ca/2016/11/28/the-thin-blue-whine-trump-leitch-and-crybaby-conservatism/ All you hear from them is a low pitched whine about how bad they have it. While they sit and watch the world change around them and pass them by. They have nothing to offer but inertia. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. It's something people do to get attention and make others angry. Apparently it works on you as well as it does on Trump. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Yes, very nice distraction and piece of media manipulation. WaPo just buys right in. Trumped again. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Well, that may be so. It's occurred to me that it may not really matter who is running the show. But they aren't going to do that. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
That's close to the way I see it. It is going to be too hard to completely quit emitting greenhouse gases. We don't really understand all the consequences, so that leads to indecision. Along with the related fact that we don't know what the goal for reduction needs to be. That leaves us pretty much leaning on the "elites" who set public policy to do their best to figure it out and hope they get it right. Personally I'm going with the fact that I'll be long dead before it becomes a major problem. So far I have no grandchildren. We will have to settle for slow technological advances in energy production and consumption, while the world population continues to increase and use more energy. The good news is that we only need to figure out better ways to harness the bountiful supply from the Sun. The bad news is that we will continue to burn a lot of fossil fuels in the meantime. And that could trigger a runaway situation, but we don't really know if it will or not. What do you think you or I should do? I've seen it. And it did enlighten me. I understand that Trump is far from stupid. And I sort of understand what drives him. But the qualities he possesses are not ones likely to be effective in his new job. It's starting to look like he is planning on doing it part time. How will that work out? Your guess is as good as mine. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -

The market was over saturated and he did nothing to control costs. But he did make sure that his investors took most of the losses. He is a GREAT businessman. He has learned just how to give other people the business. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
Trump refusing his daily intelligence briefings
gowlerk replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
Do you understand what it means to be "elite"? It should not be an insult. I want my leaders to be elite people. Donald Trump does not have the attention span to function in the high pressure world he is about to enter. You can only hope that he has the wisdom to leave important decisions to those who do. But it is unlikely his enormous ego will allow him to stay out of the way at critical times. Your nation is potentially in great danger. Trump refusing his daily intelligence briefings

That would still keep the power in the executive branch. But the President would be trying to pass accountability onto underlings. Congress would regain no power. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
I will admit to not having the faintest clue what is actually in the Paris agreement. It's probably not insanity, but if you perceive it as taking money from your pocket and giving it to foreigners then I can see why you may feel that way. I'm not even going to pretend I know what should be done about CO2 levels increasing. I'm too distracted arguing with deniers. That's my excuse for not doing my part. I just keep on driving my truck and complaining about fuel saving measures like speed limiters. Then on weekends I work with my partners running a DZ burning fuel for fun. I'm just like Al Gore, jetting around the world to talk. All talk no action. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

It's kind of like the government, the people get the leaders they deserve. Apparently the membership is happy enough with the leadership. Unless they are too shy to get out and change it. But what actually happens is that those who care most make the investment in time and energy to get involved, volunteer, and run the organization. They spend time studying the issues and making the best decisions they can. Then some members, who have not made this effort, come along and criticize those decisions. Because they can, and because it feels good to gripe. They also care, just not enough to actually do the work. Been there, done that. From both sides. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Is someone asking for such an extraction and redistribution? And if that can not be justified then just what sort of investment can? This is the sort of fear of change I'm talking about. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Funny thing about fevers. They are usually caused by infections. They go away when the infection does. Either by the immune system alone or with treatment. If the infection does not get better then it gets worse. Many people die every day from the effects of fevers that are not or can not be treated. They all have something in common. They started out small and manageable. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

We understand that this is weather. Like I keep saying, CO2 is rising, the ice is melting. Like never before in recorded history. (not geological history, but history written down). That is climate. These are the facts. It's very simple really. When you feel cold you put on a sweater. If it warms up you take it off. We've put a sweater on the Earth, but we can't take it off. And we aren't really sure just how sweaty we are going to get. And how uncomfortable it will be. Because we've never done it before. You keep talking about hysteria. There is no hysteria, except maybe from people who are afraid of changing because they are used to doing things a certain way and they don't like to change. The deniers are the true alarmists. Trump has spent most of his adult life using and learning to manipulate the media. He is still doing it today. He is not too stupid to understand what he is saying. He is doing it on purpose. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
I have one of those too. It popped up on ebay a couple years ago for $20. Came with a dozen sets as well! Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

I certainly don't feel bad. The cause of the rapid rise in global temperatures is known. It's not long term cycles, it's the effect of increased greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere. And we know where those gases are coming from. The only people expressing any doubt about that fact are people like you who are afraid that there may be a financial cost involved in doing something about it. You and your kind are merely raising false arguments in an attempt to influence the politics of your country. If you want to discuss whether or not the human race is adaptable enough to deal with the coming changes and therefore should not spend any money attempting to stop the changes I could respect that. But if your starting point is denying that we are having an effect, you are merely another lying liar. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Maybe there could be an aide, or maybe Pence, can follow him around and let the press and the people know which words that pass from his lips are serious and which are not. But since he is a lying liar anyway even the serious words have no real meaning. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
Well, in that case the answer is simple. Yes it is. Or else the membership, who have voting rights, would reject it. I don't pay USPA dues, I'm not a member. But CSPA membership at $85 CAD is a bargain as far as I'm concerned. Your real beef seems to be that you'd like USPA to have a different focus. That is really a separate issue from whether or not it's worth the price. I agree that they are under the control of a)manufacturers and b) DZOs. The recent adoption of Tom Noonan's wish list of tandem rules as BSRs clearly shows that. But they still also do a reasonably good job for the general membership as well. I'm saying that apple trees will not grow from orange seeds. USPA and AOPA have very different functions. And they serve very different groups of people. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Not CO2 levels. Which is the salient fact, along with the rate of change. You also use arguments that are not really germane to the point. Long term historic climate change is real. But completely irrelevant to what is happening now. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
