Largely irrelevant to the governor of Nevada...... Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

The main one was: http://fortune.com/2014/09/12/nevada-gov-sandoval-signs-off-on-1-3-billion-tax-break-for-tesla/ Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Nevada's Republican governor negotiated and signed a huge subsidy deal with Tesla. I'm pretty sure his motive was not supplying toys to douchy rich guys. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Here is a more comprehensive story about Elon Musk subsidies. http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-hy-musk-subsidies-20150531-story.html The man is visionary, and a force. I'm reasonable sure he is sincere, and that his efforts will advance society. But his companies could easily fail if government policies change. I would not consider buying stock in any of them. Just curious: how many jumps, how many cut-aways?
gowlerk replied to GermanSKY's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yes, but so what? Every time I jump I always assume that my main canopy is going to malfunction. And I plan how to deal with that. That way I always believe that on every jump I have a VERY good chance of returning safely to Earth. If I did not, I would not still be jumping. The main reason for skydiving is the adventure and adrenaline. You can't have that without risk, or at least a perception of risk. The statistics are a way to gauge the real level of risk, but the bottom line is how it makes you feel. Do not tell your mother this. Just baffle her with bullshit. And if possible, get her to do a tandem. Your mother's fear is like most people's. They don't know very much about the sport, but it looks and sounds dangerous. CSPA has a motto, and it is a good one. "Knowledge dispels fear" Education will change the way see sees the sport. She will meet older people who have been jumping for years at the DZ, and this will affect her perceptions. Right now, the DZ is just a black box to her. Full of unknowns, open a window and let her see in. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
Population growth in western countries is negative, excluding immigration. Once the curse of religion is lessened and more of the female population gain control of their reproduction, population growth will subside. While I will agree that nothing lasts forever, and that mankind will eventually go extinct for one or many reasons, I can see no reason to think it will happen before we are affected by climate change. I don't pretend to know what the effects will be. And I am not claiming they will be disastrous, but they may be. Saying that we shouldn't worry because we are doomed anyway is pretty much the same as the Christian fundamentalist believing that the end times are near and the magic man in the sky is going to save them and damn the rest. It is just a means of coping by ducking behind a flawed idea that nothing matters anyway. I agree. But I believe that we are in comparatively good shape. I believe that the luckiest people in the world, with the brightest future ever held by mankind, are those being born today in western democracies. ( I stole that thought from Warren Buffet ) Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Amen to that. Many of your people worship your constitution as perfection written by perfect men. Those who study it more deeply recognize it for the series of compromises that any such document must be. It appears that the system has faltered and allowed the Electoral College to be a liability in this case. The will of the people has been thwarted, and in a way that is potentially quite dangerous. This is true. The word "malignant" in the diagnosis of "malignant narcissism" changes the meaning significantly. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Since he is definitely speaking in a manner of making a professional diagnosis in a way forbidden by his profession, it makes little difference. It is speculative. As is any reference to the unfinished DSM V. AFAIK the next DSM is always under way. Like the next election. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. It is one professor's opinion and it is not only unprofessional, it is sensationalist. The diagnosis of it is not in the DSM, it is speculative and not recognized by psychiatry. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malignant_narcissism The story does not fit my definition of "false news". Because it is not made up. But it is lazy garbage journalism to report on it without at least strong qualifiers. On the other hand, there can be little doubt that Trump is a narcissist of some sort. Our small Cessna DZ did about 2500 jumps last season. We had two cutaways. I consider that about half the normal rate. But it is highly variable. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
I have zero WS jumps. So my opinion is not worth much. But I largely agree with you on this. With the exception of the AAD problem. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Obamacare hater celebrates its demise...then learns he has it
gowlerk replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
Unless you have the resources to self insure, you can't have one without the other. I'm am not in the least confused about the two different roles. The insurance industry is the most problematic part of the system. But it is necessary in some form unless everyone self insures. If you are going to take that view then every American who uses any public facility has a certain amount of "douchyness". The list of things used by those who allow others to partly pay for it is very long. But let's just start with skydivers who mostly use publicly funded airports for their douchy fun. Absolutely they are fretting. Always difficult for conservatives to figure out how to take back something once the liberals have given it away. Yes, that is exactly what is happening. Some people have gained access to healthcare at public expense. And it is a form of socialism that is very popular. So popular in fact that the majority of the population is in favour of it. There will be changes to the system, but the ACA in some form is here to stay. Healthcare is not a protected right. But more and more even conservatives are seeing that a rich society benefits from ensuring that all members have the security of feeling able to access care when it is needed. Without relying on the whims of employers and insurance companies, who have completely different interests from them. There is a strong possibility that what comes next is even more socialist. And one thing for sure is that almost no one is going to be happy with the final result. Left or right. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. I'm assuming that is the term you always use to describe someone who is successful in America. Not at all. I'm successful and not over priveleged. I'm only a little confused then. Are you saying people who chose to use some of their success to buy electric cars are douchebags? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Life has winners and losers. If the big truck guys are stupid enough to spend their cash that way it's their own fault. It's always been the right wing view that life is not fair and that smarter people will do better. Why should this be different? Once again, so you might understand. The story is not about the size of the crowd. The story is that the POTUS is such a narcissistic insecure man that it matters so much to him. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Trump set this up for himself. Well before the event he was bragging that it was going to be the biggest ever. HE made it important, his whining about the coverage made the coverage important. It is only a story because Trump turned it into one. The main reason for larger crowds at Obama's inauguration is the make up of the DC population. It is largely black people, and they were rightfully excited about the event. So many of them made the easy trip. But the narcissist in chief can not allow himself to accept that. Therefore he can not allow it to be reported. He really believes it is a lie. And THAT is the scary part. Trump is a very flawed man. This is key. Not only is the energy source renewable. So are the jobs maintaining the systems. This is hands on work that requires training, but not years of study. A trade for the new millennium. And likely to become unionized as well! A win for the blue collar workers. And not boom and bust in nature like petroleum. The Saudi's are never going to be able to ship their electricity over. The price will be stable and so will the industry. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Exactly. While Trump becoming POTUS was a R victory. Trump getting the nomination is a disaster for the right. Wait and see. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

No they didn't. They can still sell Javelins to those people. The Aurora is simply a purpose modified Javelin. It's not a new H/C at all. Sunpath did the correct thing by giving a truthful answer. Sunpath is a market leader that always does things the best way they can. I don't believe they feel the need to build market share by promoting this specialty product into general use. Now if only Airtec would ship the WS CYPRES they starting bragging about a year ago they could join the ranks of first rate companies like Sunpath.
