USPA and PIA Issue Joint Skydiver Advisory
gowlerk replied to Communications's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That's all generally true. But as I recall, the reason we did not use the available AADs back then was the high likelihood of an AAD firing if you opened at 2000 ft.. 750 ft. is cutting it close. But Herr Cloth chose that height for a very good reason. He felt that skydivers would not use a device that gave them more chance of a two out than absolutely necessary. And he was probably correct. -
This sounds like a Primus video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOdo7dhvSwg Or a Dylan song from the mid 70's.
-
Don't spend too much time down there Rob.
-
Very true. I've no idea if he was treated fairly or not. I just found it rather odd that anyone would look here for support on such a thing.
-
He also seems to be an experienced plumber, with expertise on codes. And an EMT/first responder of considerable advanced training and knowledge. Clearly a man for all seasons. Or at the very least an expert at researching a broad number of topics.

I'm pretty sure he's referring to the event in Dallas and other cop shootings that the perpetrators seemed to be retaliating against LEOs in response to what they perceived as wrong doing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_shooting_of_Dallas_police_officers Of course, the organization known as BLM had nothing to do with these, the same as Trump had nothing to do with killings by right wingers. It's actually a good point. However, Trump is the leader of a nation. The expectation and the influence he holds is greater. With great power comes great responsibility. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Only because a few of us participate here, (somewhat successfully I think.) Others will never participate because they do not want anyone to challenge them with questions. Or, like most USPA members they don't even have accounts here.

So many people from shit hole countries. Where are all the Norwegians? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Yes, as Skydekker points out in an country with a long and ongoing history of voter supression, long proven and so very obvious, sanctioned by one of the major parties stacking the courts with judges who will smile upon this blatant cheating, you dare to crow about some non-news about non-citizens voting. Even though it has been shown over and over again that election fraud in the US is so small as to be nearly non-existant. Why are R's so afraid of high voter turnouts? Do they really believe in one man one vote? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

The propensity toward faith is merely how we tend to deal with the underling questions that come with awareness. Awareness of our impending death is only one of the factors. Even without the promise of eternal life, or the threat of eternal suffering, we would search for an understanding of our existence. Religion happens when one person manages to convince his fellows of an answer. That person is a leader. The leader may or may not actually believe, all that matters is that people follow. It is easier to follow, and it makes for cohesive successful societies. That is why religion has thrived, not because we have a god gene. Islam will probably eventually become dominant over Christianity. Because it is more efficient at enforcing discipline. Not so much through physical force, but through the shared experience of 5 times daily public prayer, the Haj, and Ramadan. Those things all help to keep the group apart from outsiders and also quickly separate conformers from non conformers. Christianity had a head start, but Islam is better at keeping it's adherents. Both can be used for good or for evil. It all depends on what the leaders need. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

I suppose a posse of lawyers could start arguing about the meaning of the word "or". Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

A couple people upthread warned you about the oscillations you could expect. Did you ask UPT for a demo unit?

Hmmm....it's even worse when you run into rigging work done by someone like that.
-
It has a plastic flange already embedded in it - makes it almost self-centering to the sewer drain. Also, the flange prevents the wax from oozing into and partially blocking the flow into the drain.

I've got one as well. A 185. I'm a little afraid to try it because the slider is tiny.

Here you go Keith. It's been done. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-12040776

Unless the mother is married. If so it does not matter who the biological father is. Legally the child will be considered a child of the marriage. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

He will say anything to further divide people. He is getting desperate and the immigration/invader thing is all he really has to grab onto. I hope enough people can see through the fog. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

That's why I try to honour most faith traditions. Even newer far out ones. At the end they are all obviously made up by people. All the gods of all the times. Societies have been built around them. The most successful ones are highly patriarchal. Because keeping the females of the tribe under control, and breeding makes them grow. Do we need religion? Maybe we do. But we also need to keep our religions under control. The best way to do that is to not let any one religion dominate. The best thing about Christianity is it's lack of unity. Muslims may be divided into a couple major groups who kill each other. But Christians have the most variety of beliefs and the biggest number of fights over them. Long live schisms.

Off topic now, because we've beaten all the corners off of it so that it is round and just going in circles. The ultimate proof of the falsehood of the Bible? The belief that God created man in his own image. How much conceit can be contained in one belief? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Something like this might work. http://thingsidonotunderstand-bodymods.blogspot.com/2014/06/dermalsubdermal-implants.html

If I may Chuck, I'd advise you to continue to address things that you see here and that you know are wrong. But only once in a while and only with brief facts. Never argue, just inform. There are only a small handful of people with these beliefs anyway. The only reason to address them is not to change their mind, but to be sure that other, especially newer people do not get the wrong idea.

It's basically a combination of two things. The first is the level of condensation that you should think that. I'm pretty much being told by you that that I'm a fool. You will perhaps not understand that, but you aren't trying to understand it because you don't want to. I do not need to be saved. It's like the Mormons adding their Jewish relatives to the list of saved ancestors. It does not harm anyone, but it drives people crazy. It is insulting. The other thing is the constant vigilance that atheists must maintain because the majority religion has so many people who would love to turn both our nations into Christian Republics. People who want to be free of the tyranny of fundamentalism must always be on guard. Ireland just voted out a constitutional clause making blasphemy a crime. Faith has always been used as a tool to organize societies. That has been it's strength and is why leaders love it so much. You see it as a path to joy. I see it as a danger and a path to oppression. You are talking to a man who as a boy in grade eight was suspended three days from school for refusing to stand for the Lord's Prayer. The principle accused me of not respecting other people's belief and could not understand respecting my belief. After the three days I came back and still did not stand. They just let it go. Three years later the prayer was dropped from the morning routine. Because they finally figured out that it is wrong to shove your religion down the throats of children. Faith is private, but Christians like to think they are God's soldiers marching as to war. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
-
That's just plain obtuse. Fallen in the sense you are talking about means condemned. Satan fell and God sent him away. That's what fallen means. It does not merely mean imperfect. The insulting part is that you and yours have returned to grace, but the rest of us remain fallen. I recognize that most Christians don't necessarily hate the fallen. But large numbers of them do look down on us in a most condescending way. And yes, I also realize that many atheists do the same. I am no fan of people who argue that faith is false. I know it is false, but I feel no need to convince you or anyone else of that. The Christoper Hitchens style of in your face "I can prove you are wrong" arguing is just as offensive to me. None of us can prove anything about the nature of our existence. Whatever any of us believe, it is incorrect. Because it is beyond our imagining. Oh, and this Is an oxymoron. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

USPA and PIA Issue Joint Skydiver Advisory

It's a big world out there and USPA does not control the activation altitude for the world. AADs are not even made in America. The manufacturers introduced software that makes it easier to raise activation altitudes.
