  1. I think the whole point is to make that day come sooner. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  2. Yes, as you did in your PM to me. As I said then I am unconcerned. The day I care about insults from autonomous internet trolls is still far off.
  3. I interpret that as the sea level calculated in a specific place. The 2M variation would be the potential over the entire ocean system. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  4. That which is obvious is not always correct. In the absence of external factors the mean sea level would coincide with an equipotential surface of the Earth's gravitational field. In reality, due to currents, air pressure variations, temperature and salinity variations, etc., this does not occur, not even as a long-term average. The global variation is ± 2 meters. And don't tell the moon that its movements are for naught. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  5. Of course. But what's your point? That's a lot. That is phrased a little awkwardly. It would seem to say the 3 ft rise will occur 300 years from now. But actually it is the approximate figure for the year 2100, with most of the rise happening between now and then. Sea level rise is not possible to predict with a high rate of confidence at this time. It is rising now, and the rate is increasing, that much is known for sure. The whole point of skydiving is flying in the face of risk. If you want risk free then the tunnel is for you. Risk is relative. Some people BASE, others WS BASE, still others do proximity. I just skydive.
  7. 5 would be a better approximation than 7. --Mark And....my math is out by a factor of 10. You will find only 0.7 participants according to my formula!!
  8. For what reasons? Easy. He pisses off liberals more than any other ever. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  9. You will find out soon that only about 1 tenth of one percent of the people in your group will be buying a jump. In 700 people that will be approximately 7.
  10. That was more or less my understanding of the situation. Thanks for the confirmation from someone who would know. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  11. Probably not too far at all. Skydiving is small, the world is big. But its still no real excuse. Skydiving causes your personal carbon footprint to be much larger than it otherwise would be. It is a wasteful and selfish activity overall. And I love it! World wide would be tough to figure the number. A rough estimate for annual US fuel use would be far easier. Just figure out a fuel per lift number that is realistic and multiply by the number of jumps done. I think USPA has an estimate of that.
  12. He was a decent guy who made the mistake of delegating decisions to the Cheney/Rumsfeld/Neo-Con clan. It was in the middle of his second term when he finally starting catching on, which led to the departure of Rumsfeld, and (less obvious) trimming of Cheney's power. He did all that because he truly bought the "born again" bullshit about America being favoured by God and destined to be the guide of the world. He is another example of religion harming the world. 13. Are you claiming to be some sort of military jumper now? This oughta be good. I train Military personnel. Garmin has a number of products as described. Do you have a point with your posting? Or are you just an idiot with a big mouth? Software updates are available for many units. They are a lot of fun to use in the clouds and at high altitudes as well. They are very easy to read and invaluable in stronger winds aloft situations to determine if your going to make it to the target. And or in assisting in locating alternate landing sites. Nice. A brand new poster with no profile and a REALLY cool handle jumping into defend ChrisD. I wonder who it could be?
  14. Ummm... not really. You just have to read some history. America has almost always had an isolationist streak and could not be counted on. And there is nothing wrong with that. However, only with the Trumpists in charge has America began spitting on it's friends for spite. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  15. The last time Earth had a thermal maximum was indeed a time of very lush vegetation. It was a time that large mammals thrived and diversified incredibly. It was also a time of the largest ever mass extinction in the ocean. Because there was very little free oxygen in the warmer water. It is thought to be largely caused by CO2 released by volcanic activity, combined with a runaway feedback loop involving melting methane hydrates. It's really pretty interesting. Just Google "thermal maximum" and there is lots of information if you really want to learn. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  16. Sure. Great. If you have an assistant! Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  17. It's not bad for life. It's bad for our current civilization as we know it. And it's very bad for most lifeforms in the oceans. But life itself will be fine. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  18. And the "breaking news" is: https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/23/politics/james-mattis-trump-shanahan/index.html Mattis out by year end, Shanahan is the new Def Sec nominee. Edit, Shanahan " Acting Secretary of Defense " , 'cuz who knew confirmation hearings could be so tough? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 19. Probably not. This is likely just the latest manifestation of the isolationist viewpoint of your inward looking President. It is completely in character for him. It is capricious and foolhardy but emotionally satisfying for him. In other words, just what you would expect from a dotard with power. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  20. Steven Miller and company do not care about dead children in shithole countries. No US personnel are being killed in Yemen. Why should anyone in 'murica care? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  21. Well, to be fair..... Comparing Der Spiegel to Fox is not realistic. One is journalism and one is entertainment. They can not be expected to have the same standards. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  22. Yes, real journalism has standards and holds people accountable when they cheat. The real story here is how seldom this needs to happen. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  23. They won't be able to get away with it. At least not more than once. And the penalties are going to be very heavy. Endangering aircraft is not tolerated at all. This is not going to be an ongoing problem. It's easily fixable. However, terrorists may eventually find a way of using drones as attack vehicles. The CIA terrorizes people with theirs regularly. 24. It looks like Santa is bringing me a buying opportunity for Xmas. Pretty rare at this time of year. Thanks Donald. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
