Yea, I thought about that. I consider myself atheist even though I acknowledge that I not knowing leaves the possibility of a creator or creators. However, I would not consider such a creator to be an object of worship, just curiosity. That is not a god as religious people think of god. I am comfortable both as a atheist and as someone you think of as agnostic.

In that case we are even closer than you think. The possibility of a creator is part of the mystery. Of course, it would only deepen the mystery. Even a creator would need a source.....on and on it goes. That's why it's pointless.

We can and are moving toward emitting less GHG. We are not going to give up our lifestyles willingly. We have brains and we will use them. Aliens will not be a factor. Neither will the American right in the end.

There is far more to a "belief system" than how you cope with the fact that you have only a limited life. The mystery itself is enough for me.

It will probably be mostly good in my area. Milder winters will be welcome. The growing season will be longer, and the the level of high productivity will likely shift away from Iowa and go further north. Overall Canada will do well and the midwest USA less well as it becomes hotter. But I still see it as a bad thing overall.

Yes, and we did largely fix that potential problem. If we had not it would be getting to be a bigger problem by now. That argument works in the opposite direction you are trying for. That statement is a falsehood, or at best a gross exaggeration.

It won't matter. Your fears are overblown. We may reduce the rate of growth of oil and gas consumption. We may eventually even reduce it. But unless batteries become dirt cheap and magically start weighing far less, we will still burn oil for transportation. And we will still need oil for producing thinks like, say, nylon. Take a deep breath. It's going to be Okay. Even AOC is not going to be willing to give up flying and staying warm.

The US economy has become partly an oil economy. This added boost to what was already the world's best and most robust economy is why I believe it will do well for at least the next decade. Barring calamity. No matter which party is in power.
