It's so freaking petty and small minded that it may as well be the same as hating the New England Patriots just because they win too often. America is just too well off and Americans have so much time on their hands to work on their hate. Life is boring without something to get worked up about.

A tariff war is pretty much a guaranteed way to cause a downturn. Winning a hot war is a great way to pump up any economy. The dismal science is not completely without answers.

Yes, it is meaningless to claim that senators would do the right thing if only they did not have to answer for it. The same claims could be made about almost any vote in any legislative chamber.

I believe it was to protect the health insurance industry and to prevent poor people from receiving medical care that they don't deserve because they can't pay for it.

I'm not sure why murder is illegal. It hasn't stopped it yet. Why bother with police at all? There is still crime.

I do feel that the years and years of bashing and hate building done to her by right wing media personalities were effective on her in a way that would not have worked as well against a man. She was basically given an image as a harridan that she could not shake. So many otherwise reasonable men who post here have stated that they didn't like her so much that they would not vote for her, even against Trump.

It's nearly impossible to know what effect being female had on Hillary's candidacy. What is known is that she is not particularly likeable in a group like a politician needs to be. Competence is not enough, apparently it is not even required.

Enough Americans felt that a trade war, a wall, and packing the courts with conservatives were all sound policy positions. Not a majority, but enough. Trump was elected because his supporters wanted his policies enacted. Sometimes populists are popular.

The last time someone’s death made me feel more or less that way was bin Laden’s. If Trump were to die today I would certainly not be sad about it. But I would not be celebrating. Especially since that would mean President Pence.

My parents went to church when we were kids, and dragged us to Sunday school. It didn't stick to any of the 4 of us. Both my parents stopped attending years ago. We don't speak about it, but I would assume they are now basically agnostic. My children expressed some curiosity about religion because they grew up hearing about it from some of their friends, so they explored a little but soon figured out that it is a scam. My grand children probably won't even get that far. From where I experience life, God is dead.
