    In politics it is always okay to use the press as a weapon. It is the essence of politics. How well you can do it is a huge part of success in politics. For example, Trump is a master at it.

    The "predicted calamity" is actually a series of effects, some unknown, some more sure that will happen over the next decades. In the meantime glaciers are melting, seas are rising, and oceans are warming. These predicted and observable measurable effects are and will continue. No matter how shrill you get in denying the facts.

    I doubt it. I'm pretty sure China would have always preferred a reliable supplier instead of the US. An overland pipeline is always going to be more economical than LNG ocean shipping. That's why Russia also supplies Western Europe.

    Canada is in a major political and regional battle over the new carbon tax. We're as divided as America, but our national government is far out in front of yours. But of course a lot of it is ineffective show. California is and will remain a major economic powerhouse with an outsized influence in America. Until the big one and the 500 year tsunami hits I guess.

    I would doubt that either of the principals in that endeavor would seek outside money from the west. People talk about this as though development in these countries is a bad thing. Like somehow if America is not involved it is wrong. This is actually a good news story about an advancement in the world economy.

    It's really common for skydivers to have dreams about doing things that would have killed them in really life, but walk away in the dream. In my case it was usually a hard reserve pull that I could not get out. I always jumped up, dusted myself off, wondered why I did not die, and then apologized profusely to the DZO for being so bad. They went on for a few years but stopped long ago.

    I'm sure Elvis would have made a wonderful POTUS. Outrageous can be a good quality in a popular entertainer. It was for Trump when he was a reality TV star. However given the power of the office he now holds outrageous is indeed synonymous with bad.

    Objectively look at the behavior of the POTUS and tell me that outrage is not the appropriate reaction. He is practically the definition of outrageous. Even if you favour many of his policies he is still outrageous.
