  1. Oh Jeez, God freaking forbid that that a piddling little thing like a pandemic with so far a quarter million US deaths should interfere with the mighty US killing machine sales industry. Give me a fucking break.
  2. It hasn't changed, it has been adjusted to fit the circumstances. It simply all comes down to how many beds and staff are available in the hospitals. No one wants to screw over their neighbours. No one wants to cancel church gatherings. No one relishes controlling the population. We are all trying to cope as well as we can till things get better.
  3. Do you worry about polio, or small pox as well?
  4. The vaccines will be a game changer. Mark my words.
  5. You are getting to be a bit of a drama queen lately. Orwell imagined lots worse! We have a snitch line here as well. I don't think many people will use it. But publicizing its existence will deter people. It is a balancing act and most of these measures are temporary. You might think of it a a generational sacrifice. In 6 months time it will be pretty much over and if you are still alive you can get the t-shirt.
  6. We all need to do infection control enforcement. It is and always has been enormous social pressure that keeps some people in line in a way that regulations alone can not. Some authority makes the rules, and total strangers giving you the eye enforce them.
  7. Tesla's market cap topped half a trillion dollars today. Better get on the short wagon for the collapse!
  8. I understand that rate is pretty low in many states. Canada had a different, but in many ways equally wasteful program. It is a difficult task to make emergency aid be fair. Sometimes you just have to throw money at the problem, at least for a while.
  9. I appreciate the help, and I'm sure Joe was only kidding. I hope I never come between the two of you and whatever relationship you have after all those years.
  10. The burden is not shared equally. I am barely affected financially at all. As a matter of fact I am better off because I am saving money. In the spring shutdown copious amounts of cash were spread around to ease the pain. Some of that was wasteful. But now there is real damage being done to many people and a better system has not been implemented. My feeling is that another thick spreading of cash should be done now. I know it can't go on forever, but the vaccine is nearly here and it will be a game changer. Real damage can happen if too many people get squeezed too hard.
  11. Joe and Jerry, I believe you two actually know each other in the real world, correct?
  12. Proof read Ken, proof read. That's two errors in one session for me.
  13. Bars? BC still has bars open? Doing far better than us then. Going into a home you don't live in for a visit is now forbidden here.
  14. USA, the prison capital of the world. For some classes anyway. What about the show trials and lockups for the over privileged parents who bribed their kids in to the best schools? If you can't do the crime don't do the crime. I heard that somewhere.

    covid-19

That is how I feel. The risk of the vaccine is a fraction of the risk of the virus. I am all in based on the information we have so far. My sleeve will be rolled up in a heartbeat.

    covid-19

Yes, I know. Both effective and long lasting is what I was saying. Edit to add, I see that I worded it incorrectly for that message to be clear.

    covid-19

Yes, for sure. That is why vaccination will be so important. I just hope that they are both as effective as the early results are showing, but long lasting as well.
  18. The drama in Michigan is now over. Georgia is all but settled. PA seems to be going straight. Wisconsin still has a shitshow going on, but will end up on the right side of history as well. I gotta hand it to you Americans, you put on a hell of a show.
  19. The science is actually quite simple. Your governor acting like a typical selfish human is not really relevant to it. The less people have close contact the less the virus can spread. Covering your breathing openings will cause the viral particles to travel less distance. That is the science in a nutshell. The part where officials make decisions about the best way to limit contact is not really science at all. It is people making the best of the situation and employing both common sense and their own biases about what is important. And it is where many of us disagree with each other.
  20. Like a gigantic tailgate party with lots of booze and guns.

    covid-19

Dr. Fauci is saying today that it is beginning to become clearer that as may as 20-30% of people who have recovered are problems that weren't there before they were infected. This is happening even in many people who did not get very sick.
  22. Whoa there......thems fightin' words. Careful, or a keyboard warrior may just challenge you to a typing duel!
  23. I don't even understand what you are talking about. There are no political crimes. Nowhere that I know of in the USA are political acts criminal. There is the United States Code, and various States Codes. They do not criminalize politics. Do you possibly think that criminal acts done to advance a political position are okay and should not be prosecuted?
  24. I am blushing now, thank you. And thank you for the great course. I still stamp my right foot three times when I do a line continuity check.
