Mostly I agree. There are not currently any examples of incidents that a Collins Lanyard would have prevented that I am aware of. But, and there is a but, tandem main risers still occasionally break. Mostly due to unnoticed ring flip throughs.

Okay then. Religious discrimination is when someone is treated differently because of their religion. And it is wrong. Making fun of the ridiculous superstitious beliefs that religion teaches is not religious discrimination. Hating and/or fearing people because they are Muslim is religious discrimination. For example, recent history has shown us that there are Muslims in the world who we have good reason to fear, and it is only natural that we become wary of them. That often carries over into unjustified suspicion and repression of innocent people. I do it too, because I am human as well. But the reality is that most Muslim people are not a threat even though we often treat them as if they are. That is religious discrimination and it is wrong. Cartoons of Mohamed as well as memes making fun of the belief in a resurrected Jesus are not examples of discrimination.

That is true. If you watch carefully you will see that almost all of the people who slam Christianity on here are ex-Christians who feel that they have been damaged and had their families damaged by religion in their lives. Religion is a two edged sword that brings people together but also tears them apart.

Personally for me respecting other peoples religious beliefs is something I practice when I am dealing with them. Jewish, Wiccan, Rasta, Muslim, and even Christian. They are all equally based on false teachings and yet I respect eveyone's right to choose to believe whatever they want. Hostility to Christianity in western society is not about disrespecting people. It is about being angry and fighting back against believers trying to force all of us to follow the dictates of their priests. I respect people, I do not respect organizations who would attempt to dominate my society. And then there is the fact that this is SC after all. It is a place for dissent. If you come here looking for respect of false gods you are in the wrong place.

And you are correct. I'm thinking the biggest new threat to workers is the so called "gig" economy. As practiced by the evil called Uber and the like. Also largely practiced by DZs, but for a completely different reason. -
Guns are cool. And I could own some pretty cool ones even here in the oppressed land of firearms control. But I don't feel a need to because I don't have to worry that everyone is walking around armed. I have lots of friends who own and some who collect. It is not an all or nothing preposition. And even better yet, our police don't automatically assume that if they can't see someone's hands it is likely because they are reaching for their pistol.

I would point out that people like Bezos are not billionaires because of high CEO pay. Amazon shares are widely held and are part of most people's pension funds. Workers being powerless have lead to revolutions in the past. Changing the rules to be more in favour of labourers is in the long term interest of all of us. Including Bezos. But if he wants Amazon to keep growing and being the best at what it does he has to play within the existing rules. -
The huge number of firearms and the easy access to them leads to 10s of thousands of Americans being killed every year without due process of law. I know, everyone will die anyway, and cars accidents kill many more, but gee, I mean really, how much destruction is keeping things the way they are worth? The answer at the moment would seem to be more deaths than are currently happening. But there is a limit somewhere and your nation is clearly on a path to get there sometime.

I know that. And you are far from the only one. There is a lot of emotion built up around it. On the other hand all the ideas for regulations that you have looked into and support can never be enacted under the 2nd. Or at least not as it is now being interpreted. As I said earlier you can not have your cake and eat it too.

Yes, I agree that it is not possible in my lifetime. I think that what is likely is that America will become more and more urbanized. And it will become more and more unacceptable to have every second person walking around armed. Because people will be people and some of them will shoot each other. Just like now, but on a larger scale. At some point the need for change will be great enough that some modification or repeal of the second will be have to happen.

I believe the US has some important paperwork somewhere that refers to "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness". I don't believe it is subject to amendments.

There is actually a large minority of Americans in favour of ditching the second. They just don't talk about it because they are working on trying to get some regulations in place and don't want to open up that can of worms. You constitution contains an amending formula and it can and will eventually be used to correct the gross error that is the 2nd. I deal with it just fine. It doesn't have a large effect on my life and although it does occupy some of my thoughts here, in the rest of my life it is a non-issue.

Your ideas are good ones. But under the present constitution they could never be implemented. My "noise" is simply that I get directly to the heart of the problem, and it is something that you refuse to accept. Only one western nation has the problems with gun violence that the US has and only the US has the Holy Second.

Was this rigger in New Zealand by any chance? No, there is no AD or SB. But it is possible that one of the many NZ authorities have a rule against them after an incident where one jumper managed to undo another's B-12 in freefall last year.
