You're vaccinated and will be safe. Even if you are exposed you will not get sick. I'm not sure if that makes it right or not. TX is being an asshole though, that's for sure.

Yes, yearly or bi-yearly vaccination booster shots may become a thing. Fortunately mRNA technology is adaptable and seems likely to be up to the job.

Shit, I did not look closely enough at who was commenting. I get it now. However pandemics in the past have done weird stuff like that occasionally. But we have more knowledge now and there is greater predictability. The first SARS and MERS were both frightful and related to this virus. And did unexpectedly stop spreading.

It will probably be awhile before that happens. But things will improve relatively soon. Pandemics generally last about two years. This one will last about 18 months. At least in the western world. But Covid in some form will probably be with us for the rest of my life at least. I can always start a new thread to be on the front page. Or I could just start posting about children shooting themselves some more.

But that does nothing to increase income. You can't mortgage your house to pay for your gasoline. Well, you could I suppose, but not in a sustainable way. But the real point is that money will flow from suburban/rural areas to inner cities. And that is the intention.

It now looks like the vaccine supply in the US is poised to take off. By the end of March there will be enough that capacity to administer the shots to people will become the most limiting factor. Most likely by the end of April lack of willing participants will take over that role. It appears Canada is likely to be about 30 days behind that curve.

Yet the world wide average life expectancy has more than doubled since the beginning of the industrial revolution. The same event that began the rise in CO2. Without our carbon emitting activities most of those 150K extra deaths would not happen because those people would never have been born. It is complicated. All I'm saying is that there is now a tendency to blame everything on warming and to say that the sky is falling. I'm not blaming you in particular. But there is a lot of hysterical words starting to appear in the public sphere. Edited because I missed the word not and I blamed Billvon!

This is the one area where you are wrong and he is right. It is the one valid point he makes. It is not an existential threat and it is constantly overstated. It is a real threat, and we don't really understand the true extent of effects that it will have. But the battle with deniers has caused everyone to move to extremes to defend their beliefs. The exaggeration and the attempts to tie almost all weather events to global warming gives them the opening they need to attack. There is no reason not to believe we are warming the world. And there is no reason to believe that warming is an existential threat. And there is no reason not to understand that it will be damaging and that we would be wise to limit the damage.

I'm pretty sure she does. I'm not sure what exactly motivates people like her, but I suspect it is a combination of dedication to the cause of denialism and just plain joy at engaging people and getting a response.
