So, I guess Mike won't be hacking up his new pride and joy toy by installing jump mods! -
41,000' jumps at West Tennessee Skydiving

Quite the hot rod. https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2015/february/pilot/t_ql You can't really fly it unpressurized at FL410 though, can you? Do jumpers wear pressure suits? In any case congratulations, that must have been a difficult thing to acquire. -
But their children and those who get break through infections from them are. We all pay a price for those who refuse to do their part.
-
Not I. Too many innocent people will pay the price instead of the guilty.
-
It will increase the overall pressure on the lazy and on some of the reluctant. We can't really force people to get vaccinated, but we can make it so they know their life will become easier if they do. Yes, fraud might happen. But again, it will just be easier to comply and most people will do so.
-
Wanna watch the game in person? Not vaccinated? No problem, you can get a dose at the gate! https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2021/08/17/1028402797/nfl-raiders-require-fans-vaccination-proof-shots-las-vegas-masks-covid

Sorry, image too small, deleted.

I don't think we can move the needle much further without some strong push toward a mandate. There is already enormous social pressure that is not working on most of the holdouts. A lot of them would just get it done if they needed to in order to keep their jobs.
-
You just made it active again, as I am doing too. Every time someone comments the thread moves to the top of the list. There is probably no chance that it will be removed so just move on.
-
Works for me too.

Stats are so subject to interpretation. Vaccinated one dose or two? Total population or over 12 yo population? I believe your figures are out of date. Here is a link to the latest federal government update dated Friday the 13th. It only updates on Fridays. https://health-infobase.canada.ca/covid-19/vaccination-coverage/ It shows greater than 81% of the 12 and over crowd with one dose and 70 % of that group fully vaccinated. There is not much point in my mind to looking at the under 12 crowd. Their rate is zero for the time being, although now Manitoba is vaccinating 11 year olds who will turn 12 this year. I have no idea where that authority came from.

Predictions are hard. Especially about the future.
-
That's simple. Republics and conservatives believe that a real man's proper role includes aggressive behavior toward women. It is God's plan, that's why women are smaller.

I agree about the complexity of the situation as it stands. I disagree about the probability of other SE Asian nations standing up to China. The only thing stopping China today is the US ability to project power through its naval power. The nuclear power is not even a consideration as no POTUS would risk a conflagration over it. Yes, the relationship is best described as a stalemate at this point. A stalemate is only a temporary condition, in the long term that island belongs to China and they will take it. Unless the CCP loses control of the nation and it devolves into the fractious regionalism that has marked a lot of its history. It seems far more likely that the US will lose enough of its resolve to maintain the status quo via enormous expenditures of resources. It will not be a world level conflict because the stakes are not that high for any nation other than the two principals. The "US centric" aspect of my thinking comes from the fact that the US is at the centre of Taiwan's ability to maintain a semblance of independence.
-
Freedom. Is it worth and price? Well.....it depends on who is paying the price.
-
None at all. However the position of CCP and the history of the conflict can only lead to a take over at some point. It may be a bloody invasion or it may be a forced agreement. But clearly Taiwan is not capable of defending itself if China is determined. And just as clearly it is. Nearly all of their military build up is aimed at achieving this goal.
-
That is what I believe will happen. I have already applied for my mail in special ballot.
-
Taiwan will be controlled by Beijing eventually. It is only a matter of time. You are correct about their capabilities to defend themselves, but only with US support. If that is withdrawn the writing would be on the wall and the motivation would change to self preservation. The world does not even recognize Taiwan as an independent nation because of China's power. Which is growing rapidly.
-
In Canada we are in that range. (over 12 population with at least one dose) But no one seems satisfied with that and our federal government has just called an election. Mandatory vaccinations in all federally regulated workplaces has been proposed and will be the key election issue.
-
Mandatory vaccination would never reach 100%. But it doesn’t have too. Most of the people resisting would reluctantly get the shots. Tying it to employment eligibility would probably suffice.
-
Why not? Probably the strongest reason is that the US federal government has no authority to do so. Do you think a law mandating that could pass in Congress? But I do agree that if it could be done it would be a good thing.

I have been hearing a lot about the price paid for this fruitless adventure. I have heard almost nothing about the estimated quarter million Afghan deaths.
-
And the answer appears to be yes. When 20th anniversary of 9/11 rolls around the Taliban will be in complete control of Afghanistan. I can understand why the people there would want to see the end of what is essentially a puppet government installed by an invading army. But I don't envy them their fate. There are a lot of lessons to be learned and most likely forgotten once again for the west in general and the US in particular with this sad ending. My feeling is that both Trump and Biden are correct in deciding it long past time to leave. And they both deserve some credit for making it happen.

Guns don't kill people. Three year old girls kill people.

It would be pretty rare for someone who does not already have an answer to that question to actually need a turn rig! Most people in your position end up having two rigs, one that they never use. Unless you are a very active instructor.
