Great video, and it looks like it's real to me. I'm no expert, but there are some details (sun flares, wing vortices, blinking red light) which strike me as very real... I have no idea on the planes, but it is very cool to watch. And I even like the song (even though I'm no fan of Madonna). Great find. In this and several other posts, Jimmy, I'm left with the thought that you believe that a sacrifice must be something that there can be no by-product of pride or joy or sense of security in. Which means that firefighters, police, and others in community service, who take pride and find joy in, do. In my world, you can both choose to do something which will create a sacrifice, be proud of what you do, and even enjoy it...and it's still a sacrifice. I know who Gawain is. Personally. I've jumped with him, hung out with him, and knew his choices and reasoning behind joining the military. At no point did he do it unaware of the sacrifice he - and those around him - would make. He did it because of an overriding sense of living his beliefs; that people should be free, that this was a cause which is appropriate, and worth his efforts, hard work, and yes, sacrifice. He put his money where his mouth was...and for that, I thank him with all my heart. Your questioning is made possible because of people like him, the world over. And he would be the first to defend your right to say it, even though your paltry attempts to negate his sacrifice must be positively awful for him to read (I assume.) For me, a sacrifice is giving up something I need/want/cherish so that others will benefit. Max, you rock. You continue to amaze me, and remind me of the strength of the human spirit. Thanks for all you've done, and all you'll do, and keep showing us the real definition of strength and heart. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

I love storms - thunder, lightening, and wind are amazing and incredible. Where I live, we don't get them...I'm jealous. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Lots and lots of prayers to your Mom, her husband, and to you and your siblings. Cancer is not easy, but it can be beat...my dad did it many years ago. So there is hope still. Let me know if there's anything I can do... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

What a charming baby. Congratulations to both parents, and Happy Birthday, Sami! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

No doubt. But it's not like a regular paycheck...more like largess from her majesty's generosity. LOL! No, you're right. There is an amazing love these animals can give, and do give...I adore it when they cuddle and purr...something very special about that. You are right. Paid in kitty kisses and kneading. Simon helps everyone with everything. He's always greeting the handymen who come over, trying to assist them in their endeavors. But he's my bud. I'm pretty sure he'd like a dog, too; he's just not met any yet. I've got a cat, Charlotte, who is royalty. She really is...and she's wonderful for it. Regal and sublime and arrogant...it's all on her terms. She's the stray long haired black cat who walked in my back door 5 years ago, and hasn't left since. LOL. (BTW, Mike, staff has to be paid...which is why we're slaves. We don't get paid. ). Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

My kitties have lips - I kiss them all the time! But not being able to make a watertight seal explains Simon's drooling when he makes biscuits. Walt, Zoe is a very pretty cat. She has the classic Siamese markings - does she follow you everywhere and talk incessantly to you? Simon, my snowshoe, does...those are also traits of Meezers. They bond very tightly with their slaves -err, um, owners. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Also, be careful with the laser pointer and not get it into her eyes...it can burn their retinas. I use mine on the wall...makes them try to climb it. LOL! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Don't worry about knowing cat talk. Just talk to them normally, if at all. Her rubbing your leg is a good thing - she's "marking" you as safe, and as a comfort. Her laying on her back staring at the ceiling is also fairly normal; three of my 6 do that on a regular basis. She's walking over your keyboard for one of two reasons; she's either feeling alone, or she's entranced by your fingers typing. Please DON'T use tin foil as a ball - the little pieces that they tear off - and a rambunctious kitty will shred it - can be swallowed and will hurt their intestines and belly. Use a crumpled piece of paper as a ball, or place a paper bag open and laying on the floor and let them explore it, or do as Walt suggested and trail a piece of string so that she gets into her hunt mode. A few other toys easily available are hair bands, the ring off a milk carton, or a stick with some leaves from outside. She's making noise because she misses her routine...and because she's in heat (are you sure she's in heat? Lock the damned house down, please...!). There's little you can do to quiet them down except talk to them back when they yodel..."yes, sppoky, I hear you." "what do you need" or "such a pretty kitty"...that will help her settle down a bit and feel more as if she's not quite so alone. I answer my cats whenever they call, even though I know they don't understand me (nor I they), and most often they're just checking to see where I am so they can come over and say hi. Feel free to pm me with any questions... Ciels= Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Sunny, I hear kegel exercises are good for that problem. Fortunately, my kegel muscles are rather strong, so I don't PIMP. As for my ass, it's still here, regardless of how long or hard I laugh. Oh well. At least I don't have suction problems. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

As a proud cat herder, my herd totals 6. Yes, 6. All but one came to me via trapping or rescue, as an adult. All 6 have been neutered/spayed. All six do not go outside, with the rare exception of Simon, who, when outside, goes on a leash. I feed another feral, and often a second cat who lurks the neighborhood, as well. One of my cats was brutalized before I trapped her; she was so seriously injured that she will forever walk with a limp, and have constant, low-grade pain. I do not know who did this to her, which is why I'm still free to write this; if I ever discovered it, I am more than certain there would be a confrontation of epic proportions...again, which is why I don't really want to know who did this to her. A few things to note. Cats are nuisances when they are ill, spread illness, are not fixed, and are looking for food. There are a few things you can do (sans shooting them with a bow and arrow) which will help curb the nuisance pattern. Also realize that cats are not the only critters who pee and poop in someone's yard; raccoons, possums, and various other animals often can be found in the city, and will use the world as their potty. I find these critters far more of a nuisance than a cat, frankly. For someone to shoot a cat with a bow and arrow is dispicable, horrific and definitely someone who likely will devolve into some sort of brutal behavior towards humans. Abuse of an animal - and in this instance, it most certainly was abuse - generally progresses into abuse of a human, especially if the animal is a housepet or, as Tigra said, a companion animal. It is distinctly different from protection of self/others from an attacking dog. Cats will attack, but rarely...they are far more defensive in their battle tactics than you'd expect. But the original topic is not about a heroic person using whatever was handy to defend themselves/others against a maurading animal...rather, it was about a "nuisance" if even that; more likely, it's about a person who is disturbed acting out a behavior pattern which has been shown to progress into something else. BTW, a regular domestic cat - not a cougar, puma, et cetera - does not have the jaw size/strength to do damage like a dog does. The threat is less from a cat than a dog, and far less than from a larger cat. Had someone shot a lurking puma or cougar with a bow and arrow I'd think differently, but there could not have been enough provocation to do so. And anyone who'd shoot an animal because they pooped on their lawn is someone I'd rather stay far away from; their temper is short, their need for control is great, and I'd rather not become the human target of such. Fitting Punishment for Kevin Ray Underwood
Michele replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
Hi, Gawain. Yes, I agree, a thicker skin is needed in SC, as in most internet chat rooms. I haven't called for the removal of the thread, rather just placed a bit of a reminder that one of us is involved, and is really, really hurting right now; and asked that people be a tad circumspect when replying. I also think that it would be best if she not read this thread, at least right away. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~ -

To All Posters: Be very aware and appropriate in your postings; this crime took the cousin of a poster here, and she and her family is in deep agony. Please realize that she, her family, and friends might be reading this. Keep that in mind as you post, please. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~ -
Dorinda, I've just heard something on the news about this. "The Oklahoma State Police and the Purcell Police Department canceled the Amber Alert after the girl's body was found in the apartment complex in which she lived. The unidentified suspect is in custody at this time." (from the link above). Know that you, your family, and all who are involved are in my prayers, and that if there's anything I can do, don't hesitate to ask. May she rest forever in God's arms. God bless. As someone who has walked in your shoes - up to and including the cutting of ties - all I can say is do what's right for you; there's no reason to continue a relationship past what you want. And I completely understand your not loving her; when I met my birth family, there was some friendship, but it was not love. And it certainly did not come near what I feel for my family - the one that adopted me. I'd give my life for them...the birth family? Well, if I could help without it hurting, I'd consider it. You're having a normal "reunion" path, Mike. The people that put you on the planet are not your family; the people who raised you, loved you, took care of you for years - that's your family. So worry not should the decision be to cut off ties...I did that about 10 years ago, and haven't regretted it whatsoever. Apparently, McKinney has apologized publicly. I don't have a link at the moment, but I caught a broadcast that says she apologized. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
