  1. Damn, Jessica...shit!!! Let me know what I can do, and you know I'll get it done. I'd move Heaven and Earth to make sure you are all right... Good to know you will be all right eventually, but shit, that just sucks... Vibes, prayers, and hugs- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  2. Ditto on the Rebecca thing. However... Michele: french feminine version of Michael. Etimology of Michael: "From the Hebrew name Miyka'el which meant "who is like God?". This was the name of one of the seven archangels in Hebrew tradition and the only one identified as an archangel in the Bible. In the Book of Revelation in the New Testament he is portrayed as the leader of heaven's armies, and thus is considered the patron saint of soldiers. " Tee hee...I am the only identified archangel in the whole Bible! Here's the link I used: Baby Names Sadly, there was no FrogNog listed. Yes, I checked. (And the only reason I know about this website is because I looked up some names for my expectant sister-in-law and brother...due near my birthday...their third...) 3. Hi, my Favorite Freaky Freefaller (tripleF, get it??) No, it was not directed at you. I know you pay it forward with regularity, and I know a bit of your history (what you've shared with me). I appreciate you and your service very much, and I know you reach out to fellow enlisted whenever and wherever you can. You were simply the last one who posted, so I hit reply. It was directed at those who want to say Thanks, but may not know how or where. I was just trying to faciliate those who might not know what to do by supplying a link or two for simplicity. 4. A few places to go and show appreciation this Christmas... TreatsforTroops and USO - How You Can Help There are many organizations which will help show your support this year to those who are stationed away from their families...for the price of a jump ticket and a pack job. You can spare that, can't you? And if you are still looking for a place to help, contact the local shelter. They always need food servers at Christmas time. Or clean out your cupboards of canned goods and all that ramen, abg it up, and take it to your local food pantry. There are lots of ways to "pay it forward"...please do. You will never know who you help; who, by a small gesture of generosity, will take faith from that, and move forward in their life. Thanks to all those who served, and all those who are serving. You make a difference, and I appreciate it. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  5. Why, thank you, Bigun! Well, then, that is indeed a problem, isn't it? You really should learn what to do. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  6. I have to go to the office...13 things on my To Do list, as well as a few things that I didn't put on the To Do list because it got scary looking with all that stuff. And my pager is going off as we speak... Besides, I'm still grounded. But it's really pretty out there, so go if you can! Good luck, Mitchyone!!! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  7. The scan is complete, and it shows ZERO virus/infected files... So it's not me. Sigh. Well, if it's not me, then there's nothing I can do, right? Thanks for the help, all.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  8. Oh goody. I am running a thorough scan right now, and will post results... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  9. See, I didn't know that... But these are not from received or sent...no addresses that I recognize at all... Hrmmmmmmmmmmmm.......... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  10. Wow, you know what? I've been getting a lot of bounced stuff in the last few days...things I'd never sent, of course, but still...I just figured I'm on someone's email that has a virus or something....hrm....maybe a call to customer service now is appropriate. But that's just it, Kris. I have no address book - I have a little notebook I use and look up addresses but it's hard copy, not computer based...I got infected about 6 years ago, and started to do it that way. I thought if nothing was in my address book, even with a virus, if there's no addresses to grab, then it hits a dead end. Spooky. It's like my computer is alive or something... 11. Erm, thanks, Muenkel...the thought is there... Casch, I do have adaware, and just ran it again. I run it weekly, last time on Tuesday. It found two more, both marked "advertising", and so I deleted them. And you're right, the first time I ran it I got about 200 items quarantined. Yeuch. And my protection is solid. I think....I will go double check it and make sure... Kreg, I have Windows XP... But how does it forward to others who are not on a list anywhere, and make it look like it's from me?? That's scary. Has anyone even heard of this before? Ciels- michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  12. Not sure what's happened, but I seem to be either forwarding spam with attachments or the actual sender of such spam without knowing it. I was clearing out my in-box, and deleting without opening and then went to close the email....and then got a notice from my POP3 server that there were 54 emails waiting to be sent, although some may have permanent errors. But - I haven't sent out 54 emails. How could this happen? And what exactly is happening? I have no address book because of virii and the like, but something seems to be going on. Anything I can do? I don't like sending things like that around...even if I don't know the people I'm sending it to. Just ain't cool.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  13. I am heading into the office in a moment or two (Lisa, expect the call shortly!!)... Besides, the only other offer is to go to Topanga and watch somene pee in their wetsuit. Kinda like a dog when he gets excited. So, well, I think I'll head into the office. Far more production there. Besides, the office is closed today, so no clients, just paperwork. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  14. Trust me, I am not going to show up. I have a life to lead, and a business to run. I suspect, then, that the above pissing is the only option you have. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  15. And the happiest set goes to you, Sparky my friend. Thank you for being there for me recently, and for always being around. It's good to know you're there. Michael, you're the bestest of the bestest! I may be able to get airborn on the 6th - I'm saving my first airdance for you, if you can be there. And, of course, if the Dr. says nothing will fall out if I jump. And for the rest, happy holidays. yet another Eloy gathering I will miss, but I will think of you, and miss all of you. Best of the Season to everyone! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  16. Wow. Why shouldn't he say what he wants to say? I believe that ChasingBlue has the absolute right to say whatever he wants within the guidelines set forth herein, with or without "doing something". Just, Joey, as you do. And as I do. My opinion? I thought it was very very impressive that President Bush would deliberately risk his life to show the troops that they are supported, and to send the sort of message he sent to Iraq and to the rest of the world. I, for one, was pleased when I heard the news and saw the footage. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  17. The example, just for clarification, was one from my personal history with domestic violence. I was simply trying to demonstrate to whomever that guns available does not mean someone will assault with that weapon, and, in my own experience, guns never came into play. Rather, tables, vases, books, and most often fists did, even though there were loaded weapons within arm's reach in at least three instances. That's all...just addressing the mindset with some personal experience. And with that, I do believe I'm done with the thread. It's getting too contentious... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  18. What details were you looking for, Goose? I'll supply them if it's not to personal. I'd also add that table related deaths is not a phrase I used, and the examples I supplied were simply to demonstrate that violence does not rely on guns, but rather the mentality of the violent one. Agreed, the film was not about gun control. It was simply about how bad guns are, and how horrible the NRA is. It was touted as a documentary, yet it was not a documentary. It won an Academy Award in a catagory it should NOT have been entered in, and it is nothing more than a piece of fiction (see the endless discussions about what was factual v. was not factual, contained both in this thread and in others...and check out the supporting websites and articles for the actuality of the situation.) And that, to me, is the crux of the matter. Why is that? And is that a true statement? I am not doubting you, but I am curious as to the studies done, independent and bias free, of violence in the US v. violence in other societies and cultures. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  19. But that's the point, then, isn't it? It doesn't matter about guns/knives/poison/whatever, what matters is that there are murderous hearts... Yeah, who'd'a thunk it??? LOLOL! Nah, but you're welcome to come over for dinner in a gun ridden household when you're in town. I promise I won't shoot you. No news at 11 here.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  20. In the interest of fairness, there was not a lot of information about the crime itself (something about things getting censored and withheld from public view...), but there are some reports that indicate he was found with a bloody knife, and one of his victims (not in the original room - I think it was the room he suicided in) had several stab wounds, as well as at least one gunshot. Lepine was indeed a psycho. The stressors in his life included his girlfriend getting pregnant and then terminating the pregnacy, as well as being rejected by the military for being "unstable"...and some others, as well. He was definitely mysoginistic, inasmuch as all the failures in his life he blamed on women. I can't research his early life, but I will venture a solid bet that there was a seriously violent household he came from, likely with the father either absent or violent towards women and towards himself. In any event... I suppose my point is simply that murder is murder, despite the weapon. While I agree that guns handy make it simpler to actually murder, there are (as in my case) times where the violence is done, even with guns in the house, by hands. I am wondering if there is a breakdown of murders with a gun, and what kind. I mean, domestic violence v. gang shooting v. armed robbery v. et cetera. And then compare to stats like domestic violence/murder without a gun, via hands, or poison, or whatever. As someone who has lived with "a gun laying around", I simply don't agree. I also have not yet been murdered, and hopefully won't ever be. I also hope I never have to use the gun in anger. But as someone who has suffered at the hands of someone I loved, with guns laying around (in two cases within easy reach - easier than say, the coffee table...), I just can't agree. There are many effective killing tools...guns are just one of many, and likely the easiest to legislate. If the gun laws were actually enforced, and then a study determines more action is necessary, then perhaps I'd consider my position again. But I don't think those studies have been done, and I don't think they will be done. Perhaps the question which needs to be answered for me is why are there people who kill, and how can we find them, and help them? I suspect that answer will not come, either, because we are dealing with as many reasons as there are murders, but still, I think finding the root of the issue, the cause, is important, rather than focussing on one single method of murder. 21. Steve, I am truly sorry you lost a friend in the Montreal Massacre. But - and this in no way negates your loss - didn't Marc Lepine have a knife, and used it on one of the victims? I seem to recall that. Yes, there was a gun - a semi-auto, iirc - and I can really understand your position. I don't agree, but that's all right...I do understand it. However, when someone goes on a spree killing, there are generally many other things to consider rather than just the weapon used. If someone had that kind of hatred - as in Marc Lepine's life - they will go off with whatever weapon they have handy - a truck, a knife, a gun, their hands...it's the person, not the weapon, which needs to get help and be identified - and possibly cured, if they are not sociopathic. Look at Andrea Yeates. 5 children dead, a history of severe mental illness, and she killed her five children by drowning. Or the children who've been strangled. Or those who've died in arson fires (like those 20 or so here recently). It's the person, not the weapon. My ex used his hands, even though we had many weapons around the house (several rifles, a shotgun, his sport gun [for skeet], and our handguns). He used a table, too, once, but never a gun. I suppose my point is simply that should a person desire it, there are many weapons available, including hands. It is not the gun, it is the person who wields the gun, wields the table, wields the vase. It is the murderous intent which is important here, and no matter if there was a gun available or not, the murder will happen. And now I'm backing out of this thread. Please, Steve, understand there is NO disrespect intended for your loss. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  22. Sure, which ones would you like? Pm me (unless others want them), and I'll send you whatever you want. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

  25. Hear, hear, what did you say??? LOL... Um, yes, well, I have written some, ah, "blue" things, but the only thing on that topic was rather tame. So tame, in fact, that I couldn't get it published (under a pseudonym, of course....)....so I suppose I don't have the, ah, experience to produce something a bit, ah, racier.
