As of Sunday, the tube exit is my favorite

0:9:2 First tube exit First time jumping without an altimiter on my wrist (turned out to be my most accurate landing of the day)

An amount I'd rather not admit to on skydiving. An amount I'd rather not admit to on skydiving an tunnel time in Perris.

Some people like to think of them as pets...

Dear Sunshine, I drank too much last night and sent incoherent IMs to several people. Were you among the victims?

Imagine the media circus if this girl got killed? I bet that would really help BASE grow as a sport...

Have fun Full review of the Wynn required when you get back... I still haven't been able to make it back out to Vegas since it opened

Bellagio is awesome... and the Wynn is supposed to be even better, but neither is going to be very reasonable in price.

Congrats

I actually sat him down in front of his mother the other night to talk to him after I found out that he told her I was "being an asshole" for not driving him to the DZ. I spent about an hour explaining to him that I didn't want to see him hurt himself, and I definitely didn't want to see him hurt someone else. At certain times I actually had to scream at him to stop him from interrupting me with ridiculous excuses and justifications. I gave him some conditions to follow if he wanted me to bring him to the DZ again (I'll elaborate in person if I see you this weekend...), and he agreed, so we'll see what happens. Personally, I doubt he'll be able to follow the conditions I gave him... and even if he does, I doubt I'd ever get on a load with him, and I'd make sure anyone else who planned to knew exactly what they could be getting themselves into.

Does anyone have any samples recorded at the highest quality it's capable of? I've been waiting for a stand-alone solid state portable DVR for quite a while now, and the manufacturer is ignoring those of us who pre-ordered and has been lying about when it will ship for over a year now. The SC-X105 appears to be the only other option that fits my needs. Thanks in advance.

How many times should you have DIED already?

I see lots of squids attempting to do 200+ on Hayabusas every day on public roads... wearing t-shirts, shorts, and flip flops. -

So was that problem ever rectified? Still haven't quite figured that one out -
Passed the AFP, got my A, hoping to get my B in the next couple weeks and possibly going to start studying towards a private pilots license this winter

Not breathing when I was born. Bad car accident when I was 17. Hit by a drunk driver trying to fly across a busy 4 lane street at 60mph out of a side street. Luckily my Jetta sacrificed itself and saved my passenger and I. Several close calls on my waverunner, motorcycle, and in various cars. -
I've convinced a few friends who have never been in planes to do tandems... they all loved it. I still remember my first time in a plane when I was 6 or 7... I was in awe. I can't imagine how cool it would be to jump out of it the first time

Signing-Off to Let Your Minor Kid Jump..?!
hexadecimal replied to somethinelse's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If a parent really wants to sign off to let their kid do a potentially dangerous tandem, it's their choice I guess... though letting a kid under 13-14 do it seems pretty crazy to me since it's pretty unlikely that a kid that young would be able to fully understand the potential risk involved. As for letting underaged kids jump solo... that's insane. I sure as hell wouldn't get on a load with one. -
Reptiles have taken a beating as pets "with children in the house" because of a bunch of uneducated rednecks who purposely leave their children in the room with uncaged 10ft+ snakes, large lizards, etc... and then come home wondering why their 3 year old has become a meal. A responsible, educated owner of any potentially dangerous animal would have it in a part of the house not inhabited by children when not under adult supervision, have them in cages with locks on them, have that room locked, and have the keys stored safely out of reach. It's not much different than keeping a gun in the house. If you're responsible and smart about it, it can be done safely... if not, it can't.

^^ What she said. I know other people who have the "...but it hasn't ever caused a problem in the past" argument, but that's not to say it never will cause a problem. Also, if you can get your snake to accept pre-killed, you can eventually start buying frozen rats (which is quite a bit easier than keeping live ones around or constantly going to buy them). This is coming from someone who used to keep and breed chondros, emeralds, etc...

I fail to understand how you could think it was on. Also... it's my understanding that a gear check is YOUR responsibility. Having other jumpers gear check you is simply a backup measure "just in case" and to make sure nothing got knocked around in the plane.
