http://uspa.org/news/current_news/carryons.htm Carry it on, explain the rig's components, don't let them pull the handles, if they get sketched out show them that the cypress turns on and off, let the know that you're a member of the UNITED STATES parachute association and the FAA has made it very clear that Sport parachutes are totally safe and allowed as carry on in commercial flight, be super friendly, smile... (If they detect explosives on the rig with the swab test, they HAVE to open the reserve) Carry a printout from the link above, and a copy of the following document:http://uspa.org/news/images/TSA_ltr_to_USPA.pdf -drew

http://www.mondial03.com/modules.php?name=Videos I am especially impressed with Rook, Mike, and Jon's freefly round and the Russian Male Skysurf. Enjoy -drew -
http://www.nytimes.com/2003/09/12/opinion/12KRUG.html Why not add more to the whole arguement?

My PD canopy demo program experience

Kolla, Kolla, Kolla!!! Yippeeee! -
You have no idea if any have been thwarted and stopped... what about 9/11 indicated that they were going into high gear with attacks... And, maybe some people in Iraq are doing what they're doing because there have been a number of innocent victims killed by accident by coalition forces? Are you sure that's it?
-
I got one of those like 2 months ago about his choice of canopy size... How funny is that!
-
Hey you liberal leftist scum, how dare you disagree with Steel. Super funny! I'm just pulling some liberal game of deceit, bait and switch, and finger pointing... "not true, not true, not true!" -drew
-
I think that you're digging a hole here, broh... Liberal games is such a strange statement to make... doesn't conservative games sound funny too? All that name calling only because someone sees things a little more objectively and is willing to put some fault on the administration that we are governed by, rather that covering your eyes with one hand and using the other hand to point blame at the rest of the world while you spin around like a top? How about calling things the way they are, right?

http://nytimes.com/2003/09/09/opinion/09KRUG.html http://nytimes.com/2003/09/09/opinion/09TUE1.html Two very interesting editorials from today's New York Times... I know that we can all go and bash the nytimes, but these pieces both push arguements that can really be debated... -drew
-
Sorry, I mistook the statement to assume that you were placing a name or label because of the stance that someone may have been taking in something that they wrote... rather than actually addressing the topics in a constructive and objective way...
-
Here we go again with the name caliing, right?
-
Let me start by saying that I don't care if the next administration is republican or democratic, just as long as this entire administration's reign ends...
-
Don't even get me started...

They've finally released the name, and show video clips on the pd website... www.performancedesigns.com/katana/ -drew

Obviously there aren't more "high performance landing" than "non speed enhanced" landings but, I think that the majority of landings are not under accuracy canopies, and the pure method behind the way that they are flown can be hazardous to the "general population", in that they tend to fly/hover at lower altitudes and slower speeds congesting the landing area. I know that there are negatives to hookin' it and swoopin, but I am intentionally not addressing them here because I don't think that that's where the problem lies. -drew
-
Or do it like Skyidve Arizona does and use an alternate landing area for Accuracy canopies? Doesn't THAT make sense too? One of the Golden Knight teams was training at the Ranch, and they were exiting first and flying their accuracy canopies in deep brakes all the way across the landing area, and they were in everybody's way... I spoke to their camera man and they all designated a different place to land at very far away from where everyone else was landing. It really wasn't a big deal, and no one got upset about any of it... -drew

Post TSA or USPA letters to help carry on your rig
freeflydrew replied to mirage62's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I flew back from Orlando this morning, they hassled me at the check in counter, I showed them the letter from the uspa website, they were totally cool about the whole thing... We ended up talking about the sport with them for about 10 minutes... I think they may go for a tandem! -drew -
I just refresh the page and it updates the icon...

5500 or 5000, usually open a little on the high side 4000/3500, sit in brakes, swoop after everyone else has landed... -drew

Picture Posting Approval email???
freeflydrew replied to freeflydrew's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
It would be nice if there was only an email sent if an image posted wasn't approved... I know that my email will be overloaded when I receive over 60 messages saying that my pictures were approved... Maybe the email could be optional? Thanks -drew -
