Eliminating hunger on a clear liquid diet?
Thunderbow replied to DrewEckhardt's topic in The Bonfire
What a bunch of wimps. They found a small tumor in my bladder back in 98 and I had to have that scoped every 6 months for a few years. I'm down to every five years now plus the occasional endoscopy. Awake for every one of both. A little groggy for the endoscopes though. Asked the doctor if I would be able to play the piano when he was done before the first one. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am. -
That is exactly how I felt a little bit ago taking my noon walk at the park down from my workplace. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

Cool Larry boy. Hope to get to Midwest and see everybody this summer. Retired from jumping due to heart attack. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

It would be my hope that you could be happy for more than just your time here on earth. I know you don't believe there is more than this present "happiness" but I do and I am truly sad for you that if I am right and you are wrong that your happiness ends here. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

So, if we had no problems in this world, you would believe in God? I really don't think He needs a pyramid scheme. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

I have had several "bad" things happen to me in my 60 years. Several times I have noticed, "Gee, I would not have been able to help that person through his problem if I hadn't gone through it." Maybe not empirical, but proof enough for me. And I admit that not everyone is able to see the good that comes from their setbacks or maybe they just aren't looking. God is truly a mystery even to us who believe. But I am constantly looking around and I what I can't believe is that all of this "creation" around me just happened. In fact I don't think there is any empirical data for that happening either. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

You won't see that kind of loyalty to a team much, if at all, anymore. Hope some of the young guys take it to heart and knock off the chew. Someone brought some to practice every year in high school. Glad it made me sick the first time I tried it. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

I am really sorry about these, I too found a list online. When you get a bladder infection, urine trouble. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

My sister was diagnosed with kleptomania. I thought that was terrible. She says it’s not so bad – the doctor reckons there’s something she can take. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

Exchange between coastguard and boat in emergency: “Mayday, mayday. Can you hear us? Can you hear us? We are sinking. We are sinking.” “Hello. Zis is ze German coastguard.” “We are sinking. Terry - Wasn't Dave Kinney an alternate at some point? Don't think so in 73 but I remember he was around in 74 or 75 when they were practicing at that little grass strip near Athens, Mi. They had a video camera with a HUGE lense mounted in a gun turret on a trailer to video them from the ground. It was quite a feat to keep the camera centered on them. They were flying a DC-3 out of that little strip. I seem to remember the pilot saying something about bouncing it into the air on a small hill at the end of the runway. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

How many decades have you jumped in
Thunderbow replied to Krip's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Spread out my measly 500 jumps over 5 decades. 28 footers and t-10's, Thunderbow (imagine that), borrowed pc's, Strato Star, couple of Clouds, PD260, Silhouette 230, Pulse 260. What can I say? I liked to play with the gear as much as jumping it. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am. -
The four times you might quit skydiving
Thunderbow replied to decompresion's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I didn’t quit being a skydiver, I just quit jumping out of airplanes. I started in 1974. Fell in love with it that weekend. Paid a whole $99 for my first ten jumps. If anyone knows Norm Johnson he’s the guy that talked me into it on the way to softball practice one evening in Sturgis, Michigan. I loved the planes, the gear and the crazy friends I made. Got married two months later to someone I loved more than skydiving. Kept jumping. Raised four great kids. Jumped very sporadically during those years. Track meets, tennis matches, soccer games, little league. Loved it all. Had some pretty good years jumping after they left home. Now come the grandkids. Up to thirteen and hopefully still counting. Then last June at 60 years old my arms ached so bad I couldn’t stand it. A trip to the hospital, two stents later and I have to really think about not jumping out of airplanes anymore. After a lot of thought, prayer and discussions with my wife (who would never ask me to stop because she understands) I decided it was time. There are going to be more sporting events to attend and kids to help grow up. I had to act quickly. Stick an add on dz.com for my rig. Sell it to the first decent offer. Put my gear bag and other stuff in the closet because I can’t quite part with it all yet. I only ended up with around 500 jumps in all of those years juggling family and jumping and trying to do both well enough not to screw either up too bad. But that is 500 jumps more than most people on this planet make. But, I am still a skydiver. I look up at every plane that goes over and think, “what a waste of altitude”. I see a 182 or better yet a 180 and wonder it the door has ever been off or how hard it would be to take it off. In fact I have one of those doors in my garage that will soon hang in my basement rec room. Hope I didn't wax too poetic with this but it just came out. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am. -
First, congratulations on your deliverance. And yes I agree we only have the ability to point someone in the right direction. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

Yes, co-redemtrix (and mediatrix) is (are) used, and very misunderstood. To save a lot of typing I refer you to: http://www.catholic.com/quickquestions/can-you-help-me-resolve-my-difficulties-with-marian-doctrines >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

As to your "throw in", yes we are all called to go into the world and save souls. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it and we know many on DZ.com wish we were all more quiet or even silent about it) Catholics are a little more quiet in how we go about it. Sometimes the example says more than the words and it works out just fine. Not that all Catholics are good examples but sometimes it helps to be able to talk religion over a beer or two. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

Yep, used the wrong word but edited it while you were writing this reply. But have never heard cannibalism mentioned along with it. Again, I say, it was Jesus Himself that said "This IS", not, "This represents". Some of his followers couldn't take this as true either and left him at that time. It is a hard teaching. Leaving Christ on the cross shows us what He went through for us. Unfortunately most Crucifixes don't portray the cruelty of a crucifixion. I understand that just as looking at a bare cross we might forget this suffering, looking at a Crucifix we might forget that he was taken down from the cross and then rose from the dead. There is more to teaching on both points than looking at a cross or crucifix. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

I am only going to talk to the two points that stood out right away in your last post. 1) Most certainly Catholics believe that Jesus is God. I can't imagine what study of the Catholic faith that you could have done that would lead you to the conclusion that we don't. 2) The reason we don't allow non-Catholics to partake in receiving Communion in the Catholic Church is that we believe that just as Jesus said at the last supper "This IS my body" and "This IS my blood" that the wine and bread are miraculously transformed into His body and blood but still under the appearance of bread and wine. (The word used to describe this is transubstantiation) He told his disciples to do this in memory of me. This has been passed down from His disciples to us. This is one of the few points in the Bible that most non-Catholics do not take literally. I am editing to add that I missed some of your post that makes some of this redundant or not quite to the point you were making but I will let it stand as is for informational purposes about Catholic belief. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

My daughter rec'd her only non A grade from high school through college in her senior year at The University of Illinois because she wouldn't agree with the professor's viewpoint on religion. She graduated high school over 4.0 but wouldn't give up her beliefs to maintain that in college. I will be checking out the movie. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

Your opinion but it is wrong. No theological debate. Not only are you ignorant of organized religions you are ignorant of the enormous good the Catholic Church AND it's leaders have done. Yep there have been some bad leaders and some bad members. Every organization has them. Bad buildings? Probably not. But when it comes to the Catholic Church the bad is all that seems to be remembered. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

We are the Church, we are the body of Christ. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

It is simply amazing that all of the incredible things the Catholic Church does and has done all over the world to help people in innumerable ways just get dismissed over and over again. No, they don't make up for the evil of the priest dilemma and nothing ever will but they are there in more ways and places than any other organization has ever done. Blaze away at the bad but don't dismiss the good. Oh, and I know that I will be blazed away at for exaggerating and not listing every good thing the Church has done. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.
