Must be air miles, a straight line between point "A" and point "B" It says the nearest dz is 52 miles (I wish) actually it is about a 115 mile drive. And another DZ that is actually a shorter drive (78 miles) is listed at 68 miles. You can't cross large bodies of water with out a bridge.

What is your DZ chant? At what time do you chant? Take off or jump run? The old Beaver Oaks chant went something like this....(on jump run) ISHKY BISHKY -response: HOBLY MOBLY! Bobo squat doc! Die, you gravy sucking pig! Eat fuck skydive hoo-hoo-hoo! AHHHH! BEAGLE SKY RANCH: (on jump run) Cock suck mother fuck eat a bag of snot! 69 Douchebags tied in a knot! Root hang, gang bang, nibble gobble chew! We're the Beagle boogie boys, who the fuck are you! Central Oregon skysports: (on take off) Yeee- Ha! Eat fuck skydive!

At 3000 feet going 120 mph you are doing about 1000feet every 5-6 seconds so you have about 15-18 seconds untill impact. If you do a hop and pop at 2000 feet it will take you 10-12 seconds to fall your first 1000 ft. After that it will take about 5-6 seconds untill impact. So either way you have about 15-18 seconds untill IMPACT! A hop and pop at 2000 feet has just as much time as a skydiver in freefall doing 120 at 3000ft. untill impact. Don't they teach you turbine babies the basics anymore? It does not matter your exit altitude, the last 2000 feet treats you the same.

I remember making a joke about four years ago how someday jumpers would exit with absurdly small canopies with no intention of ever landing them. No Shit! They would just fly them around at high speed and then cut them away and deploy something that could be landed safely. The cutaway toy would have some high tech beacon to find and retreive it. I never thought it would end in tradgedy like this, I honestly thought it could not be worse than jumping a board, and quite likely safer. Just because we can push the limits of what is possible does that mean we should? Baby steps people. You don't have to die to be a "pioneer" Breakable risers=bad idea Secondary automatic release? I would love to see this explored. I hate to rely on gadgets but I think this might be the next phase in aads. An aad that can ALSO release a spinning malfuntion before firing the reserve? Tough questions, what altitude, what speed, etc. Welcome to the 21 century.

Grow some balls. Or rent some and see how you like them. -
If the pins were swedged by Ralph don't worry about it. Hey Jerry, you still making rigs? I aint seen a Baumchen since the 80's and you were the only one that would jump it. Whats up with that?

I was at a boogie two weeks ago and a good friend of mine had a hard opening and broke his rear mini riser on one side. It was a new canopy and the canopy was not damaged. It ripped in half just below the toggle keeper. He is about 265+ gear exit weight. The canopy was new but the risers had 500+ jumps. He had a hard opening about two weeks before that tore lines on an older canopy resulting in a reserve ride. He replaced the canopy but not the risers so we speculated the risers were weakened by the first hard opening and snapped after several jumps on the new canopy. Makes you think....The tandems don't use mini risers do they?

I just got a 1991 Para Flite Super Evolution and I am looking for more info on this canopy. It is a 140, z-p fabric on top and f-111 on the bottom and ribs. It is new in the plastic and has never been jumped. Of course this canopy has been out of production for some time. I was going to hook it up to my container and jump it but it needs a special set of triple risers. Any ideas where to find a set? The rigger at my DZ says they don't make them anymore and would have to be custom made. If I can find a set I was going to hook it up to an infinity container that currently holds a Triathalon 135 with a collapse-able pilot chute. I would be loading it at 1:28 According to the manual that is max for this canopy. Looking for general info on flight characteristics rigging, pros and cons, etc. Post it here or send me a private message. Thanks!

How much time do you have? I have lived about 33 miles from downtown DC for about 4 months now and I have only made a dent in all there is to see. My favorite is the aerospace Museum, you can spend all day there, The dinosaur museum is also cool. You have to walk the mall if you have never been here before (like me) and ride the elevator to the top of the washington monument. The metro is cool, being from a small town in the Northwest I felt like I was in a science fiction movie. Kinda creepy at the same time. It's all good!

I don't have a job and don't want one. I don't mind working for jumps, that seems worthwhile.

"I think you can either live in the past or join the rest of us in the present. " I think that was rude and uncalled for. You don't speak for "The rest of us" You seem to speak for the few and the greedy. Blue skies -

peckerhead replied to peckerhead's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Once again you have proven my point. Skydiving is not skiing. I was a professional ski patroller for ten years. I learned to ski when I was a kid... I would pay extra for a helicopter ride and a guide but I would never pay a buddy to go ski with me for a day... "Hey you buy my lift ticket and I will give you some advice" Yeah, sure no problem....... Buy your own ticket dude! -

If you create more catogries you will have more to do. You have made it nearly impossible to select the "ahem" proper forum. I thought this was a skydiving website? IMNSHO .
