  1. I thought it was statistically weird too. I still think its fucked up. Fact is that the Feds investigated it here and said 'nothing to see', which effectively means that you'll find dick unless you know people who are intimately involved - and I dont know anyone who does. Yes, it's odd, but its just an oddness, but there are many of them to do with the entire situation, none add up to anything and most are rationally attributable to human error. I really dont know how much further they got than that, my guess (and merely a guess), instantly classified to follow up (doesnt take much thought to consider that it was probably someone involved closely, or closely enough) or it was a dead end and no one wants to admit that because people will start asking questions like "how the hell can someone get money anonymously, and can i have some too". Overall 9/11's conspiracy has been more about covering up the fact that so many agencies crumbled under pressure, and protecting those people from public scrutiny - rightly or wrongly. In all honesty if you were to say 'Hey, it was Bill in the FAA scan room' the poor guy would be fired and then killed by a mob. :) TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  2. What do you think it means for a person to be Christian and how would you know for sure if a person was? In all honesty thats what my question is to you all. To me a Christian is someone who believes in the religion described in the Bible and accepts Jesus Christ as the Messiah yadda yadda. What I cannot fathom is the fact that each sect considers themslves the keeper of the truth. No one has tackled this head on, except to reject the more extreme examples as wrong. My point isnt to mock anyones beliefs or even make a judgement on them. If no one understands my question about christian relativity and multiple instances of God that's fair enough, but I didnt think it took a great leap to see what I'm talking about. I'm not trying to challenge anyones faith, I'm seriously just trying to reconcile how each of you interprets your Bible differently, with the exception of the main points. To an outsider there's a huge difference between a moderate Christian and a bigotted hateful bible-quoting group that call themselves christian, but according to the definitions put out by yourself, Mockingbird and Chuteless you are all of the same faith. No one has answered regarding the question on those extremists who bomb abortion clinics in the name of the Christian God. I realize these are ugly truths and not what most of you think. I'm sorry but my mind cannot accept 'well, we just happen to be correct, those OTHER guys just dont get it' because it comes across as the height of arrogance to assume that you have the one road to heaven if everyone is using the same book and coming up with slightly different answers. To say that it doesnt matter is the difference between a burnt out church or dead doctor and a peaceful caring community. Mockingbird, perhaps a better title would be "If the Bible is the word of the Christian God does Humankind have the mental tools and perspective to truly interpret its meaning?". Judging from the conversation so far I'd say that its unlikely - not due to lack of intellect, but lack of perspective. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  3. Thank you Senator, Sir. I'm actually bored and looking for reasons to code. I know the material inside and out simply from being around the right people - but I'm not joking about my head falling apart during exams, its just something that has happened my entire life. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  4. Thank you Bill, for weighing in on that. Generally when I"m discussing something I dont discount an entire argument because I confused 'center of the world' with 'center of the universe'. After all, both statements are obviously correct. Your earlier quote: "I have been stuydying the King james and comparing it to some of the more "modern' perversions, for over 30 years, and what I said is true, and I have NEVER said "jokingly" that it is the WORD of God, because I don't joke about anything so serious. " I guess I misunderstood the meaning of 'perversion'. per·ver·sion: n. 1. 1. The act of perverting. 2. The state of being perverted. 2. A sexual practice or act considered abnormal or deviant. I'm guessing you dont mean the second interpretation... per·ver·sion (pr-vûrzhn, -shn) n. A practice or act, especially one that is sexual in nature, considered abnormal or deviant. Seems pretty strongly worded. I know you'll misread this and consider that I'm being disrespectful again Bill. It frustrates me that you choose to be so dismissive with what I consider to be an important concept. Please note, I did not bring Buddhists, Hindus or any other religion into this conversation. I am only interested in being able to reconcile what I percieve as large and gaping flaws in the statements I commented on before. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  5. Bill, I'd love to hear your critique of them if there's so little substance. I'm not trying to say that you, parajito, mockingbird or anyone is right or wrong. I'm merely trying to understand how Christians can all claim to be of one faith when quite obviously it's not true. You yourself have stated that the KJV is the only true and pure version of the Bible, the rest are perversions (your words). Parajito has been quoting the NIV quite extensively. So, is Parajito a christian in your sense of the term? he's learned his religion from a perverted form of the scripture, according to the comments you have made within this thread. Parajito, Bill has claimed that the KJV is the absolute word of God, every letter and sentence in the correct place. You use a different Bible. Bill believes that the KJV is absolutely correct because (among other things) London is the center of the universe. How do you reconcile your statement that you are all of the same faith when you obviously, from your statements within this thread, disagree. You reject Jehovahs Witnesses, LDS and whomever else doesnt fit your template of belief. But how can you reject Koresh, who also would claim to be a Christian? If its merely about extremes then who sets these boundaries? It has nothing to do with logical games, or trying to mock anyone, it has everything to do with reconciling a number of contradictions that do not make sense to me as an outsider of your religion. Feel free to call me a fool, blasphemer or whatever, but so far no one has tackled that question head on except to say 'ahh well those folks are wrong and I'm right'. By the way, throwing insults at someone merely because they ask questions seems to reinforce the concept that Christianity is a religion based on ignorance and fear and that the Gnostics were correct. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  6. Anyone know of anything in existence to help those of us who have examination problems. I have one of those brains that totally spirals into blankness, even though I may know the material inside out, so I have to study til it's muscle memory and an unconcious response. As such I'm wondering if there are any flash cards out there for the A and B license tests? (I only need A for now). If no one has any ideas I'll code it myself and put it up for everyone to use. If anyone wants to volunteer to help compile question/answers that'd be cool - ask me for the format needed. Thanks. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  7. Trade in part, mostly investments on both sides of the Atlantic. dont mistake cultural arrogance for snobbery. Both US and British have a strong belief that they are the superior race on earth. Rule Brittania and all that. Britain still has the mentality that it is great. Remember that less than 100 years ago that tiny island owned the greater majority of the civilized world (over 4 million square miles!). Add in the fact that they did it with remarkably little planning, it just sort of happened within a space of 30 years. That has instilled a lot of cultural arrogance that is only now starting to erode (I think anyone under 40 might understand what I'm talking about). The US shares this outlook, but from their own point of view, because they're pretty much where the UK was. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  8. This story ( US Spying on UN members) broke in the run up to the war. The UK is just being implicated now? I dont know much on history, but Britain was bankrupt towards the end of WW2, my guess is that concessions were made (such as the permenant US bases on UK soil). The UK and US have always been close, there's a lot of trans-atlantic investment on both sides. Historically the UK has remained outside of Greater Europe, the US was really the only other ideologically similar ally. Plus you wouldnt believe how much of the US business is British wholly owned or partially owned. I always found British arrogance amusing, as a native I always felt it was rapidly heading in a downward spiral. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  9. Yet the fact remains that these people believed, just as you do, using the same scripture as you do, that they were right. I bring them into the mix to say that you are most decidedly NOT worshiping the same god that you claim. Yes, you agree that Jesus is the Messiah and in the written history within the book, but the actual God that you worship is different because you interpret his laws and lessons very differently. This is the same as when the KKK try to justify their racism through scripture. The current anti-homosexual bullshit that the group from Kansas promotes. All Christians. Are you sure this is the same God you're worshipping? I dont care about playing comparitive religion, because Christians play it themselves within their various sects. To a protestant there can be no understanding of a Catholic, unless they've really softened up, since I heard that they disagreed with the whole virgin mary and graven images. Catholics god accepts and expects it, protestant god rejects it and says its a sin. Catholics wholly reject divorce as a concept. Church of England accepts it. Yet Catholics justify their decision on it being a sin against God. If Church of England (Episcopalian) does not consider it sin then obviously it is a different God. Are we not, at the end of the day, merely seeing one group of human's interpretations of God's rules here? If we are really to believe that all Christians follow exactly the same God then why so many sects? Koresh is a christian to be embraced by your rules: he accepted the basic memes of Christianity, it's just that his method of worship was not popular. Those who survived the seige and walked away have said that they are still Davidians and some still worship that way. Just because you dont have millions of people behind you makes you fake? What did they say about gnostics and other early christians? What of coptics? Is religion now based on popularity of interpretation rather than faith in your God? doesnt that seem somewhat antithetical to the teachings of Christianity? Just some thoughts. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  10. Wrong! According to Lady Diametricas Almanac of Incomprehensible Paradoxes (pub 1734), 'Humans are the only beings with souls' is attributed to Lord Percival Herringbone, a Campuchian Wombat from the Greater London Zoo. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  11. There's a mission later in the game where you will procure it for yourself. In the mean time.... T = Triangle, S = Square, C = circle X = X T, T, S, C, X, L1, L1, D, U (off the top of my head) I think its called a Hydra in the cheat lists. I've just found a few more new ones, so might have to tivo those too. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  12. Thanks, That 6 minutes is culled from 60 minutes of jumping (I'm a huge geek and I'm methodically jumping off every surface I can find. I put the vid together for Darius after a conversation we had a couple of weeks ago at the DZ about him not having seen the game, then I realized that I'd put some stuff in there I hadn't seen in other GTA videos so figured I'd share. I was really paranoid about copying other peoples stuff - except for using the camper as a boost on the platform of Mt Chilead, which I stole totally from someone elses video. If you wanted help finding the exits pm me with the jumps in question and I'll try to remember where they are. I've actually started sitting down with the included map and am trying to find a useful notation system for marking every exit i can find. Yes, I did say I was geek. 13. I refuse to let this thread die. Being timely I'm about 12 months late to the video party, but here's my first attempt at doing video from a PS2 game...via VCR, Tivo, Tivodesktop, bitshifting the tivo file to something usable and finally editing the damn thing. GTASA Vid Sorry, WMV format. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.

  15. TIA wasnt shitcanned. It was renamed MATRIX and implemented at a state level, then all the states linked up their databases (or are in process to do so). At least thats what was reported in the technology press. Not sure how well the data integration is going. Basically it's an easy system and most of the geeks on this board have messed around at a DB interface level. thats all this thing was (ok, it's a little complicated) basically you get all these disparate databases and write a 'translation' layer that allows for generic db-agnostic fields, once you have that you populate it with all the available data. Once you have that and all the info reconciles you have a usable system you can start using to profile. Once youve got that running you turn on the networking feature and point it at a master hub or whatever node system you developed. And you end run around the restriction on TIA and gain the same functionality. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  16. This is a great demonstration of something I've held true for a while. Those who vote republican tend to view the leadership as a single person, he is judged on the projection of his personality, this personality is moral, good, hardworking, no-nonsense. His foibles are unimportant. It is the public persona on which he is judged. To the people who vote democrat, most believe that the intellect and ability to reason is the most important thing, they want a leader with intelligence who can rationally approach a problem from several angles and select the one that serves the country the best. Absolutes are seen as dangerous. The persons personal life is not as important as his ability to do the job for which he has been selected. This plays out between Clinton and Bush. The Right HATES Clinton, can't get over his infidelity. Ignore all the good that he did and shit all over his playing with some intern. The left loved Clinton because he used his brain, everything was considered before action was taken, and they knew that action was what logically made most sense for the country. The left HATES Bush, they can't get over the fact he's an arrogant strong willed 'dunce'. He jumps to weird conclusions and does what he wants in the face of facts and opposition. The man doesnt think and is an idiot. The right love Bush because he takes no shit, acts decisively without a lot of flip flopping and does whats right for the country. Thanks for perfectly illustrating that model. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  17. This is a good news bad news sort of situation. 1. The Good News: RFID is a new technology, as such it'll be feared for a little while. RFID is a low range chip, it can't track you like GPS. My friend and I spent time looking into tracking tech and one was to manufacture a chip to be worn, scanning stations at the on transport and at the place of work would generate realtime positional reports. 2. The bad news. You dont have any privacy now. Public companies like Lexis Nexus already aggregate all information thats publicly available, and because they're private they are not limited in the same way that government is. These guys can grab all your retail data on top of all the openly available legal stuff. This is why the Lexis Nexus breakin and exposure of (650k identities was a big deal) - (this is a case I was personally involved in). In 2002/2003 the US Government ordered a multi-terrabyte RAM disk. This was to allow for high speed data manipulation of various databases, most likely PROMIS or it's replacement. PROMIS is the system that was developed as a commercial database and then the CIA stole and destroyed the company responsible (check public records, there are plenty of good sources on the PROMIS story, including a good article in Wired. Its easy to think that with the huge volume of data available that 1, there's no way to use it all, 2. if you're not doing anything wrong then why worry? The 'stop being so egocentric' defense is fine, until you realize that these databases are used to profile everyone. Profiling allows tracking patterns, the problem is that human beings, while quite easy to pigeon hole on the larger scheme, tend to generate a lot of false positive and negatives (so you'll hit innocents and miss the guilty). Many feel that this is acceptable if it helps stop crime, some consider it a violation of their basic rights. The 'too much data to crunch' defense used to be true, but in the last 15 years technology has leapt forward to the point where anyone can start with a generic profile and zoom down to a single entities records instantly. More concerning is the fact that while many of these systems are secured, there are a lot that have networks hooked up to the internet. Hackers are so patient that they will perform network scans of possible targets at the rate of one packet per day. The new laws regarding drivers licenses are so shortsighted technologically that they scare many of us in the computer security field simply because the legislation is hugely flawed. The current model has the DMV scanning in critical identifying documents into the data stripe on your license. It'll also carry more personal information about you. The thought is that this can be used to verify you at bars, by the police...........and by extension, anyone with a card scanner.........including people who want to steal your identity - which used to take a little more than simply scanning your card. Cars already track a lot of what you do anyway. Too early to keep rambling. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  18. I'm sorry, you're saying David Koresh and yourself both practice the same form of Christianity? TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  19. Is that what you said? If so then…….well……………..ok. Yup, thats pretty much what I said, just without the paranoia that someone might possibly think that wasn't what I was saying. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  20. Welcome back to the US. Your opinion seems shaped by your experiences. Unfortunately your personal reality is not the same one as seen by the rest of the world, or recent history. When you've decompressed a little more it's a discussion that could be continued. Conversly you could read back over previous threads that discussed and illustrated the falsity of your statement in great detail. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  21. Personally I disagree, unless what you're doing is criminal there should be no limit to free speech, but perhaps Im in a minority nowadays. I realize you just got back. I'm sure everyone here, regardless of their feelings about the war or this administration is grateful to you, and thanks you for serving your country. This thread is not about the army, or the war. No one, except you, has mentioned it. The rest of your post makes a lot of sense except the stuff about hippies - sounds like perhaps you used to be one and then rejected the lifestyle. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  22. It's tough to make a decision based on the sheer amount of pro and anti hilary stuff out there. Of course, not knowing who she's likely running against is also a factor. Wait, what am i saying, she jumped on the anti-gta bandwagon and showed exactly how much of a vote panderer she is and how insincere and uninformed she is. If I wanna have simulated half dressed pixelated dryhumping in my MA-17 rated video games I'll have it, I dont need you to re-rate it and accuse it of being the root of all evil in US society. "Everyone" knows thats the job of the current Administration. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  23. not subtle and not enough confusion, with that you can get away with anything TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  24. Couple of things: 1. Bush isnt the only guy working in the civil service, unbelievably he has thousands, perhaps millions, of people under him on the org chart. I know, tough to believe, but exactly how it wasnt Clinton screwing everything up, it isnt Bush either. 2. Presidents take holidays because it shows people that they are confident. Someone better aquainted with US politics can tell you which president it was that refused to go on holiday during a war and then lost voters confidence. I dont understand something, and I don't particularly like Bush from the personality he projects, but if you hate the guy so much isnt it a good thing that he's on vacation and having other people make decisions? God forbid people should think Im defending the right here. They're possibly worse with their anti-clinton bs - and then claiming that they are shocked by the hostility from the left wingers, conveniently forgetting the millions spent and the sheer volume of vitriol aimed squarely at Clinton for the majority of his presidency. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  25. Your friend could always ask forgiveness. No damnation there. Couple of points in general on the thread: I mentioned Jews and the Messiah because someone said the prophecies were so accurate. My feeling is that an accurate prophecy can only be considered so if everyone says 'Ohhh THATS what he was talking about' not if only a few people say so. Abusing/Mocking God.....actually I was abusing and mocking his more abusable followers, not God. If, however, I was mocking God (which is always possible since I'm rarely paying attention to what I'm saying) I'm pretty sure that God will take the time to point it out at the designated time, and while he may appreciate some of you trying to correct me he may very well be laughing his ass off at what I said and nodding in agreement - that's the funny thing about interpreting scripture, there's a lot of room for a lot of different gods. While there are many of you here calling yourself christian's there are some who quite obviously disagree with each other. Parjito takes the position that the Bible, while factual, is not the absolute word of God and requires interpretation and knowledge of the source materials, languages and cultures to truly understand the whole message. He also takes the tack that the Bible was inspired by God, but does not necessarily have to be absolutely without syntactic error to remain viable. Seems pretty reasonable to me. Chuteless, and others, however take the point of view that the KJV is absolutely and without doubt the absolute uncorruptible word of God in every paragraph, sentence and letter. The translators were tools of God and the KJV english is exactly what God intended as the Bible, even over and above all other translations present and past. Although Chuteless has yet to comment on those books in their original languages. David Koresh (not a member of DZ.com, yet still quite famous) interpreted the Bible in a way that allowed him to be the Messiah and get lots of chicks. Koresh was a rock Guitar player. This feeling is not uncommon for most rock guitar players, we just dont collect women and guns (often, usually one or the other), and we dont have the patience to start our own cults (although I've been asked to on more than one occasion). Jehovas witnesses also interpret the Bible differently and have their own faith. As to Seventh Day Adventists. As do Protestants As do Roman Catholics (in english speaking countries). What of the NIV and other English translations which OPENLY contradict the exact wording and 'color' of the KJV of the Bible. Any number of Biblical sites will allow you to confirm this yourself, just read the same chapter of a book in the various versions available. Jesus will still be crucified, he will tell the same stories, but the wording, context, inferences can all be subtely different - and when we're dealing with somethign which is so obviously an ABSOLUTE with many of you then it raises further questions about the ability to adhere to the exact word of God. If that makes any particular sense to anyone but myself. Each and every one of them will tell you that their brand of truth, that their interpretation is the only true interpretation of Gods Word. Each will place different weight on the Bible, whether it be Gods only tool to communicate with the present day (or the future from the authors perspectives), as a guidebook to be understood through the teachings of people who've spent their lives researching its content. Some will absolutely follow the absolute letter (although they pick and choose the specific laws that need to be adhered to from the OT and tend to ignore the ones that seriously dont make sense anymore) So, my Christian friends, I ask each of you, with no sarcasm: Which of you is correct? You each have unwavering faith in your God. You each have unwavering faith that your interpretation of the Bible is the correct one. You each have unwavering faith that your method of worshiping God is the correct one. You each, in some form or other, have spoken to your God (at least I would hope so, seems a complete waste of faith if you're not actually having some sort of relationship with him). It would be inaccurate for you all to link hands as one and say 'we all beleve in One God' because while you may all follow an entity who is described within the pages of The Holy Bible, you do not follow the same God if your perspectives of that single book conflicts in any way with each other. For you to reject Koresh and JW but accept Chuteless and Parajito makes no sense, simply because Chuteless and Parajito seem more reasonable to your ingrained biases about religion. It does not, in my mind, lessen the fact that perhaps Koresh was correct and everyone else is gone. He prophecised his death and it happened, he died for his faith, he died while doing work that he believed that God had ordered him to do. Who are we to suggest that Koresh really did have a direct line to God, that he did hear him and was doing God's will? Only our human sense that he was wrong. Only that his method of worship and belief is at odds with what you are so convinced is correct. Each of you feels the truth of your faith physically, and each of you is absolutely balls to bone convinced of that. Nothing anyone is going to say or do is going to change that. Yet the fact remains that each will think the others faiths are incorrect/ignorant/under satans influence. Can multiple conflicting spiritual realities co-exist within the same physical space and be equally valid? For your sakes I hope so, or there's a lot of you who are in for a big surprise according to the rules you're all playing by.
