  1. Jo wrote Jo, You vastly underestimate the FBI's power to ignore Duane stuff. You'll see. They won't do a thing besides a yawn. You've been teasing about soon to be released blockbuster evidence for years. You never deliver the goods. We've all grown accustomed to your MO. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 2. Jo wrote: Jo, Blaming Jerry for damage to your heart is over the top. It's an extraordinary claim. Where is the proof? If words could cause heart damage the military would be all over it to develop word weapons. Sure, stress does produce elevations in adrenaline, cortisol, heart rate and blood pressure, but it's a huge leap to say that Jerry damaged your heart. Has it ever occurred to you that YOU could have simply ignored Jerry? You've made all your points about Duane. The Internet assures they will be preserved. If all this stress is killing you then walk away from it. Devoting your last years to an obsession is a poor choice in my opinion. Take up a new hobby. Meet new people. Don't stay in an environment that you claim is dangerous to your health. Or admit that you exaggerate and over dramatize a bit and continue with the status quo. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  3. Yikes Blevins. That lost month was a close call. You agree Jerry? Amazon? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  4. I had a similar but far less dramatic dilemma when skippering a commercial fishing boat. Other fleets had installed voice scramblers so that they could pass radio info on hot fishing spots without being mobbed by outsiders. They paid a lot for their scramblers and were told they were "digital" and "unbreakable". It was a lie. They were not digital and were actually fairly simple. I recognized the scrambled voices as simple speech inversion and built a tunable decoder using an EXAR analog multiplier chip. I had to be really careful not to come their way too often after a intercepting a descrambled radio report of hot fishing. It was hard to keep up that discipline. One day all hell broke loose and the descrambled voices told of huge catches taking place right in the shallow anchorage I had left an hour earlier. I gritted my teeth and stayed in deep water 7 miles away. Over the long run it paid off, as they never suspected I could decode their radio comms and about 15% of the time I'd profit off the info. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 5. Interesting reading indeed Guru. The fog of war certainly obscured things during the 911 intercept operation, lots of wrong info etc. Pretty amazing that shoot down orders can be given by the President targeting a donestic airliner full of innocent passengers. Of course they eventually saw that the hijacked airliners were being used as missiles so it was likely that the passengers would be killed anyway, so why not limit the deaths to passengers and spare the lives of people in targeted buildings by doing shootdowns of ones still in the air? What if a shoot down order had been given for the NORJACK 727? Some trigger happy NORAD commander possibly could have convinced the White House that the hijacker ws likely to blow up the plane after exiting and do it over a populated area. In that scenario the crew was toast anyway. It would have been very embarrasing to the USAF. The F 106 interceptors scrambled from McChord AFB couldn't even find the 727. The big old C 130 transport that did intercept it was incapable of firing weapons. If DBC was a true sociopath blowing up the plane after his exit would have made sense. It would have destroyed eyewitnesses and any physical evidence left on the plane. Glad he didn't do it. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  7. Another conspiracy theory debunked. 9. Jo teased Would you mind telling us what this next promised blockbuster event is Jo? If it won't be done here, where should we look and when? Do you stay on touch with the "Night Clerk"? 10. It isnt hard at all. A big student canpoy is very forgiving. The main thing is dont flare too high, wait until you are really close to the ground. Your instructor will be radioing commands to you, just follow them and you'll have a very soft arrival on Terra Firma. You can try the canopy flight simulator here,: http://staticlineinteractive.com/index.php It's called Canopy Glide. The graphics are primitie but the flight physics are quite realistic. It's actually harder to fly the sim than a real canopy so if you master the sim you'll be fine. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  11. Nice job, and very smart to use a diapered round reserve. I am REALLY glad your riser released at main deployment altitude. It would have been horrible to have your R3 partially release during your pull and come apart later at very low altitude. My first reserve ride was in the early 70s at Pope Valley CA. I was saved by a 26 foot Navy conical belly mount that I bought for $25 when everyone was going to more modern gear. It did the job. My second reserve ride was at the 2005 WFFC on a PD 193R square. It too did the job but cost about 35x what the surplus reserve cost. Some whuffo ran off with my free bag and pilot chute, but I got my main back. I leave jumping the old gear to people more brave than I am, like pchapman and Beatnik. I did well over 100 surplus round jumps and thankfully didnt break any bones doing it. Now I am turning 62 and have grown accustomed to those cushy Triathon landings. I miss the quiet round rides but have no need to revisit the old days where a good PLF was needed every time. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 12. Georger wonders Well, good question. I think those glorious false color images produced by pro and am astronomers have a tabloid aspect to them. I was all excited when I saw my first star cluster with my Orion reflector. My daughter, staring at the white cloud through the eyepiece, said "Dad, why dont we get one of those COLOR telescopes?" 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 13. Yeah, I know, but tabloids do serve a function. I need to know if Jennifer Anniston is pregnant. I need to know if Angelina is cheating on Brad, or vce versa. That info is available nowhere else. My wife will not stand in a grocery checkout line with me unless I promise not to pick up the Inquirer and read it while waiting. There is a reason why the Economist is not stocked near the cash registers. 15. Jo wrote Jo, I went to considerable trouble to find and send you numerous photos of parachute hardware. Now I ask you to show me which photo resembles what Duane had and you decline, saying you have to physically hold it. How do you propose to get the physical item may I ask? This is why people get frustrated with you. There is no sense of fairness or reciprocity. How can you ask for help and then tease about the results? The book theory is so far fetched as to be laughable. Don't waste your time on these ideas. You could be doing something far more fulfilling. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 16. Jo wrote Jo, Does it really make sense that Cooper would take a couple of books left behind by passengers? Every minute counted. He barely had means for carrying the currency. Why on earth would Cooper take a couple of books with him on his jump? Nobody is interested in your book theory. It's too speculative and unlikely. Show us the picture of the parachute hardware that resembles what you found in Duanes belongings. Don't tease just show it. You have repeatedly ducked my question as to whether you attended a smoke jumper convention. It's a simple question. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 17. Jo it's truly remarkable that you insist that your prisoner smoke jumper publication is an accurate memory when all the evidence says it isn't. Not a huge deal, but it points out your bias. You simply ignore evidence that is contrary to your opinions. Do I sound like Orange? Yeah, I do. Jumped today. Had a great time. I still can't believe how cheap it is. $20 to 13,500 ft. If you adjust for inflation it's far cheaper now than when I started jumping in 1968. Back then it was a dollar per thousand feet. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 18. Jo wrote Jo, I wish the FBI could satisfy your need, but that's not their job. It's also an impossible task. If they say Duane was ruled out on DNA you say the tie sample is no good. If they say the fingerprints don't match you say print cards were swapped in prison. If they come up with anything that rules Duane out you will dispute it. You have it backwards Jo. The claim of DBC=Duane was made by you. The burden of proof is on the claimant. You haven't presented a shred of verifiable evidence supporting your claim. Your memories about tickets and parking stubs are unreliable. Why? Bias, that's why. It affects the accuracy of you memory. Look at your stubborn insistence that there was a prison smoke jumper program. There wasn't. You claim to have seen an article describing the program with a photo no less. Prove it!! My extensive searches have convinced me that the article is a distorted memory. Did you attend a smoke jumper convention? Did you examine smoke jumper hstory records? Did you correspond with smoke jumpers? If so did any person or data corroborate your memory? What does it take to make you see that your bias influences your memory? Put Duane on the plane Jo. And please tell us how info regarding an Englebert Humperdinck performance is relevant to this? I've grown used to your teases and consistently unfulfilled promises of huge revelations. They no longer annoy me. It's just Jo being Jo. I still welcome you as part of the family here. You are in the Vortex. The Vortex is compelling. 19. Jo wrote I am not being sarcastic or derogatory Jo but that newly posted "angle" photo doesn't look significantly different than any other Duane photo, at least to my eye. The front of Duane's head slopes like the figures in ancient Mayan carvings and statues. It's pretty distinctive. I've not seen that feature described by any DBC witnesses. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  21. Quade wrote Just sitting in his seat??? I am certain DBC was having Bourbon fueled "mile high club" fantasies about Tina. I'll bet his metabolism was in 4th gear. Kenny C. would not have been similarly handicapped. I used to fly PSA with the semi naked stewardesses. I was just sitting in my seat too but I and a lot of other guys were sweating big time. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  22. Robert99 wrote: Yikes Robert. What were you flying? I have jumped twice from 24,000 breathing O2 in the plane but jumping without supplemental O2. I've jumped many times from 18,000 with no O2 in the plane or during descent. I did one hop and pop from 18,000 with SpO2 telemetry. My readings were in the low 90s at exit and increased during the canpoy ride down. The climb to exit altitude was VERY quick in a souped up King Air 200. That helped a lot. Those 24,000 ft jumps were FREEZING, even in the middle of the summer. My goggles iced over right away and didn't clear until about 12,000 ft. Remember we have a 130++ mph wind chill factor in freefall up there. BRRRR. The 727 crew probably could have put Cooper into a stupor (hey that rhymes) by donning masks and climbing to 24,000. But then what would you do with him? I know what Rataczak would have suggested: a swim in the Pacific. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  23. Robert99 wrote The passenger drop down O2 systems I have seen are not tank fed but have individual O2 generator cans feeding each mask. The cans contain chemical ingredients that mix when the mask feed tube is sharply pulled and begin a VERY hot exothermic oxygen producing reaction. They have caused more than one fire. The Value Jet DC 9 crash in FLA was caused by a bunch of these carried in the cargo bay. They ignited and caused a fire that resulted in loss of the acft and all pasengers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ValuJet_Flight_592 The "quick donn" pilot masks are fed by tanks. Skydivers assembling gear for high alt jumps buy those quick donn masks dirt cheap from the places that salvage airliners located in the AZ and Mojave CA deserts. You can remove the quick mount head bird cage and fit straps to the Scott brand quick donn masks pretty easily. The same type of mask with OE straps can cost 30x the price of a quick donn type. The pilot masks have very high quality internal microphones which are great for doing radio jumps. With those masks on and the sound of labored breathing, the appropriate use of pauses, clipped speech and "ahhhhs", I can sound just like Farflung. I want to make an iPhone app that will do that on cell calls. If you are gonna talk why not sound all hunky and fighter piloty? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 24. Every major conspiracy theory eventually draws in the Masons. Was Tina once a Job's Daughter? Might DBC have given the secret sign that obligated her to assist a Mason in distress? Come on folks, this is fertile ground that needs to be plowed, planted and harvested. Was Duane a Mason? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
