  2. I am not kidding about advocating clemency for Snowmman. We'd have a better forum if he were back. The kidding part was that there is a quota for badness, and now with two folks banned there might be room for Snowmman. Hope springs eternal. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 3. Actually, it's about time both of you go. So here's what's going to happen. Blevins is going to be banned for the personal attack. The attack will be deleted and georger will take himself out of the forum. If he doesn't, then I will do it for him. In the future, please refrain from attacking each other via attachments. This goes for everybody, Farflung as well. Quade, more permabans or are these "vacations"? Does this purge open up some room for Snowmman? Just kidding. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 5. Sure been some interesting info posted about Ted Braden. If accurate, it paints a picture of someone who might be untouchable. He seems to have played that get out of jail card successfully. Wonder what he knew that made the govt treat him with kid gloves on serious criminal matters? Is he a viable DBC suspect? Billy Waugh thought so. Did Jerry say he knew Braden? I can't remember. I know he says he knew McCoy. Anyone who could do those SOG jumps (see Snows posts on SOG ops) in Nam could have made the Norjack jump. What always fascinated me about the SOG jumps was that the SOG jumpers could find each other on night jungle jumps in rainy weather. They used radios to do it. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  6. I'm more of a salad bar guy than a Hometown Buffet man, but to honor you I'll give it a try Farflung. I did go to one in Arizona (?) years ago. I saw an old guy eat enough fried chicken to feed a big family. Nothing else, just a mountain of fried chicken. We are fortunate to have Fresh Choice. It's a giant salad buffet. You can be kinda healthy without getting all tofu-ey and organic. Hometown buffet is rumored to be subsidized by the makers of Lipitor. How else can they feed a guy 7 lbs of fried chicken for $7? So Farflung, why are you so modest about being a military pilot? I've never seen similar behavior. You never give the usual "there I was, SAMs coming up everywhere" stories. Even if you were a Herc or Buff driver you could spin some good yarns. Jumping next weekend. Gotta get some more airtime while the weather is still warm. I used to jump in bitter cold until one day, miserably near hypothermic, I said "why?". 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  10. You'll recall my test jumps that demonstrated that Cooper and an accomplice (if he had one) could have easily communicated for distances of 20 miles or more using inexpensive walkie talkies, especially if the accomplice was on a peak. There has been speculation that an attached money bag would have put Cooper into an uncontrollable disorienting spin and possibly result in a no pull fatality. In my next test, I jumped with a bag full of radio telemetry gear strapped to one leg. It presented a significant aerodynamic assymetry. I jumped from 18,000 feet, freefell for about 3000 feet then opened. The bag DID present some freefall stability problems but I easily overcame them by repositioning my body to compensate. At no time was I in a spin or tumble. It might have turned out different at night without a good horizon reference, but I think I probably could have maintained a stable position even then. I've attached a photo of the bag. The payload was certainly lighter and smaller than Cooper's loot, but I have a lot more radio junk than money so I was unable to perfectly model his jump. My next test will involve a food fight in the back of a King Air. I can't afford to charter a 727 at the moment. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 11. Farflung's Monica and Bill poster is funny. I wonder if Monica and Marla should form a support group. They could call it "Out of the Spotlight." Of course Monica might not like it, with the pun about a "spot" in it. Speaking of the FBI, Clint Eastwood is doing a movie about JEDGAR. He submitted a FOIA request seeking info about FBI file references to Hoover's sexual orientation and/or possible cross dressing. He got nothing. http://www.examiner.com/crime-tv-in-washington-dc/fbi-s-j-edgar-hoover-again-profiled-clint-eastwood-s-biopic-j-edgar The old guard of retired agents is getting touchy about having their boss possibly portrayed as Clyde Tollefson's lover. As long as you remain in a dialog with Jerry don't blame your health on him. You are like the little kid who keeps putting his finger in the electrical socket, over and over. I did that according to my Dad. I apparently showed early signs of adrenaline addiction. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  13. Georger, it's hardly going to expert testimony, just observations and a bit of speculation. The subjects I am going to talk about are: 1. The rigs and canopies, as I have jumped all the basic types that Cooper had aboard, although the military bailout rigs I jumped were modified to accept chest mounted reserves. 2. Jumping from a transport category passenger jet. I have done that (only once) from a DC 9-21. 3. The choice of rigs and speculation about whether it might have been an intelligent rather than random choice to pick a military bailout rig with a C9 over a sport rig with a PC. 4. The Thailand 727 static line jump videos and what they tell a jumper about the issues involved in trying a freefall exit. 5. The risk of a fatal spin/tumble if Cooper were inexperienced and tried to freefall, especially at night with asymmetrical stuff possibly strapped to him. When I learned skydiving there were no AFF jumpmasters hanging on to you. You had to teach yourself freefall stability and it was not easy. I've experienced wild tumbling and disorientation, big time. Do I know who Cooper was? No, I don't. Jo, however is sure she does. Do I know if Cooper survived the jump? No, I don't. Jerry, however is sure he does. I wish everyone who posts here would come. I'd like to meet em all, even those I spar with. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 14. Jo wrote Jo, When I jumped from a DC 9 jet airliner there was no cabin air turbulence inside the door opening. None at all. I don't mind you bragging about your RE exam score, but I sure wish you'd stop promising to produce extraordinary evidence which never is disclosed. Also, blaming Jerry for ruining your health and causing you to make ER visits says more about you being hysterical than Jerry being physically harmful. At any time you could have simply ceased communicating with him. You chose to let the dialog continue and it has been going on for years. He didn't physically assault you. He just sent words your way. If words could physically injure people and send them to hospitals the military would be researching word weapons. We are a few days into the "few weeks" you asked us to wait for your case solving evidence. You wont deliver, you never do, and you will blame the FBI. Prove me wrong. The story about the food all over the cabin is intriguing, but I see no evidence that it's a true account. It's like the story about Cooper checking rig packing cards. Intriguing but unverified. If food was thrown all over the place it wasn't caused by simply having the door open. I'd bet on that. As for the crew killing Cooper and keeping the loot, it's a great drama story but highly unlikely. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  19. It's easy to pose as a pilot if you do your homework. Poser fighter pilots abound. They mostly just need to avoid telling their bullshit stories to real fighter pilots. I outed one and I'm not a pilot. This guy had heroic stories about flying Route Pack Six in a USAF Phantom and attacking SAM sites way up north. He really knew the lingo and tech details, but completely screwed up on describing refueling ops in Nam. Turned out most of his resume job history and degrees were fake and he quit as the noose was tightening. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  20. Farflung wrote I represented lots of accused criminals back in the day. Prison didn't seem to be a deterrent at all. They all thought they'd never be caught (or caught again for the ex cons). Prison was for dumb guys. His use of "TACAN" flagged Farf as a mitary pilot. None of his online vocabulary indicates that he spent any time locked up in government brotherly love condos with Duanes and Bubbas. Perhaps prison has been an effective deterrent for Farflung. One really ugly side of prison life in the HIV era is that any sentence can be a death sentence. If you think lifers who are already HIV positive care much about infecting others think again. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  22. Jo wrote Seven years is a long time inside Jo. I've spent quite a bit of time at both Folsom and San Quentin (as a court appointed lawyer for indigent appellants). They aren't nice places. Lompoc is like a country club in comparison. Rapes and sexual coercion are common. The food is bad. Life is grim. People come out changed and not for the better. Guys get shaken down. It wasn't uncommon for the wife of an extorted prisoner to have to make regular payments to the wife of another prisoner to keep the payor's husband from being attacked inside. Guys get "punked", turned out and enslaved to a more dominant inmate. You probably don't want to know what happened to Duane inside those places. Just sizing Duane up I can see him on the wrong end of pecking order. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  23. Blevins wrote Duane habitually shoplifted substantial quantities of Kool Aid which were never consumed. Jo has confirmed this. 24. Allen, Welcome to the forum. We are honored to have you participate. For those who are unaware Allen Tyre was the Scottish national parachute champion back in the day and participated in the first baton pass made in Scotland. Tell us some more about Ted Braden. Did he seem like the type who would hijack an airliner for ransom? Do you know if he smoked and what brand? Favorite drink? How did you come to meet Ted at the truck stop? Are you aware of his Army combat experience in Viet Nam? Although not 100% certain, this death record appears to be the Ted Braden you knew: TED B BRADEN Born: 24 Sep 1928 Death: 21 Jun 2007 (V) Last Residence: 18360 (Stroudsburg, Monroe, PA) SSN 366-32-4946 SSN issued in Michigan 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver.
