Blevins wrote Robert and others: This is a skydiving website. Threats of lawsuits and calling the cops don't play well at any DZ, really. Try settling personal beefs without involving the courts or the police. Whatever Bruce did or said falls short of a crime in my book. Also, the courts and cops are so busy with REAL crime, serious stuff, that adding minor matters to their workload is just stupid. If Tina felt threatened let HER call the cops. If she wants a restraining order let HER apply for one, they are easy to obtain. Obnoxiious behavior and breaches of journalitsic etiquette or protocol are not crimes. Even if you could stretch a statute to cover what Bruce did it isnt worth burdening the cops or the courts with. Have some sense of proportion. There are big deals and there are little deals. Farflung wrote: Snow raised all those jumps too, but the WASHOUGAL DEATH WOODS legend endures. Why? Amazon, time for you to join the debate once again. We have many examples of successful jet hijack jumps and even one by a Whuffo. Why does Jerry and the FBI insist that Cooper's jump HAD to be fatal? Amazon has some highly relevant qualifications and knows the area. She does not share Jerry's certain fatality outlook. I still stubbornly cling to my theory that DBC KNEW FOR SURE that a 727 could be jumped. Otherwise he was dumber than a rock. Without that certainty he had a very good chance of trapped aboard. Sure, there would be a big hostage drama when the plane landed with him aboard, but it would end with him jailed or killed. I have a hunch that knowledge of the jumpability of the 727 actually lead to the intial thinking about how to do the crime. Sure, it's just a hunch, but it's my hunch and I like it. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Farflung wrote Are you forgetting Tom K's boat propeller snag upstream transport theory? To be fair to Tom, that quote was taken out of context. As I recall he had been asked if there was any way something could move upstream, and of course there is. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Skybill, please post some of your propliner jumpship videos on youTube. I can't get enough. I made almost every WFFC C 54 load when Jim and Connie brought her to Quincy. I just missed one. Loved Southern Cross, the DC 3 with Wright 1820-86 engines which came to Rantoul, what a climber. The ATL 98 double deck DC 4 mod that showed up in 2005 at WFFC was a blast too. My first DC 3 jump was at Elsinore in the early 70s. A bunch of seasoned RW guys took pity on me and turned my 2 way into a 13 way earning me an SCR. When I showed up at Pope Valley with the SCR patch people who knew my RW skill level thought I stole it or bought it from someone. I just love DC 3s. I wish Skip Evans would fly N26MA as a jumpship more often. I'd fly down to Elsinore to jump it. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Jerry Thomas wrote I'm not so sure Jerry. Sport chutes were placarded for 150 mph max. Energy goes up as the square of velocity. Chances were good that your exit speed would exceed the stated structural limit of sport canopies. I'd have given serious thought to picking the military rig. C9 rounds are probably one of the toughest canopies ever made. The suspension lines run all the way through the canopy up to the apex and down the other side. They are made for high speed jet ejections. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Farflung, dont get distracted by the flatulence decoy. It's really about Kool Aid. It played a deadly role in Jonestown and even Jo admits Duane spent his golden years stealing big quantities of it for reasons she cannot fathom. Jim Jones has yet to be linked to Duane Weber, but JFK, RFK and MLK have. Its probably just a matter of time. There is a common link, asassination. Jim Jones' crew shot and killed Congressman Leo Ryan. The puzzle pieces are all there. Who will assemble them? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. I dont think the rig ever got over 85 degrees F. It was indoors in a dry windowless closet in the SF bay area. 377 maybe not sunlight, but was the rig exposed to heat? erm, can one of you chemist types help me out - I did a search for "rubber degradation" and this came up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymer_degradation How much of what we call "rubber" is actually natural rubber and how much is really polymer? 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. pek771 wrote: pek771 may have a point here. West Coast Dungeness crab pots (commercial crab traps) have their steel rebar framework wrapped in rubber stripping. The rubber cracks and erodes when left in the sun which is why the pots are tarped or stored indoors in the off season. Sometimes when trolling or trawling you snag old crab pots that got lost or had the buoy lines cut by pasing boats. Some are so old that the steel is crumbling but the rubber is still good, no cracks no erosion. It isnt latex rubber bands, just strips of the same material tire inner tubes are made of. On the other hand, sometimes rubber bands self destruct when totally shielded from sunlight. I had an old rig that had been packed up but not jumped in a decade. It had all new rubber bands installed when last packed. I opened it to inspect it and about 40% of the rubber bands had rotted into a gooey mess. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. I aquired one of these gizmos (see photo link) and assumed it was an altitude switch for an old school UK AAD. It is basically an altimeter with a presetable SPST switch that will close the contact at a selected altitude. Turns out I was wrong. These are called Contact Altimeters and were installed in WW 2 RAF Sea Fury aircraft to sound a warning horn during a dive bombing run when the plane had reached a preset pull out altitide. Well, dive bombing is not really swooping but the same safety issues arise: start arresting that high descent rate before it's too late. Someone is seling one on eBay now for an absurdly high price and that's where I learned what the application was. Mine cost $10. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Finally found out what this gizmo is (see photo link in prior post) It's the world's first swoop audbile altimeter, so to speak. It was used in RAF WW 2 planes to sound a horn during a dive bombing run when the plane had reached a preset pullup atitude. A California state appellate court has just ruled that a ballot measure (Prop 69) that passed and mandated the collection of a DNA sample from all arrestees, is unconstitutional since it amounts to an illegal search. That puts the state at odds with federal courts which have held that DNA samples are like fingerprints and do not require a warrant. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Or, was it Myers and Dvorak, with Snow reading? Remember them? Could be Georger, I cant really recall, but Snow whipped it up into a froth. He ruined Marlas's future. She'll be waitressing in a diner instead of signing books and staying at nice hotels. It's all his fault. She was just a sweet vulerable small town girl with dreams of fame. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

I dont think Farflung would see it that way Vicki. He has already purchased a bunch of Indulgences, hopefully enough to keep you both out of hell. from Wikipedia: In Catholic theology, an indulgence is the full or partial remission of temporal punishment[1] due for sins which have already been forgiven. The indulgence is granted by the Catholic Church after the sinner has confessed and received absolution.[2] The belief is that indulgences draw on the Treasury of Merit accumulated by Christ's superabundantly meritorious sacrifice on the cross and the virtues and penances of the saints.[3] They are granted for specific good works and prayers.[3] Indulgences replaced the severe penances of the early Church.[3] More exactly, they replaced the shortening of those penances that was allowed at the intercession of those imprisoned and those awaiting martyrdom for the faith.[4] Alleged abuses in selling and granting indulgences[3] were a major point of contention when Martin Luther initiated the Protestant Reformation (1517). 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. What you really mean Vicki, is not YET. A traumatic event can change all that. A bomb threat, a double malfunction, a date with Farflung... 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Blevins wrote Yes Robert, I was kidding you. When you got to "double blonde" it should have been apparent. BUT... look at the big picture. Snow started this whole Dan Cooper comic thing and it is becoming deeply imbedded in the Cooper legend. It's like a virus. It is infectious and it replicates. It turns infected people into agressive legend advocates. Your candidate is now thought to be more credible if he was a reader or even better yet a collector. The comic is featured on th FBI website. We have witnessed a phenomena. Am I the only forum memeber who finds this interesting? It's probably old hat to psychologists. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Sailshaw wrote Thanks for the concern Bob. My spouse echoes your worry about a 62 year old jumper. I like to think I'm still able to jump safely and handle emergencies. I stay in decent shape, always review emergency procedures prior to jumping, use a written pre jump checklist and avoid high winds and marginal weather. I had a a main canopy malfuntion and did a cutaway (my second) just a couple of years ago. Everything went well and I had an open reserve at about 1700 feet. AADs add a huge measure of safety as do audible altimeters and I use both. I jump a fairly lightly loaded conservative (Triathlon 7 cell) non elliptical canopy and fly my landings like an airliner rather than a dive bomber. I'd like to jump into my eighties God willing. I jumped at WFFC with a guy in his eighties and he could fly circles around me. I'd like to be that guy later on. If my reaction times degrade significantly (you can measure them) I'll have to face the facts and hang up solo jumping but so far so good. Back to DBC and Sheridan Peterson. I sure wish someone could interview him. He has cancer and won't be around forever. Even if he isn't DBC he may have some ideas. I'd like to know how widespread was info about the Air America 727 jumps in Thailand. He jumped in Viet Nam as a civilian. Had he heard about the 727 jumps? In his novel there is an odd passage about walking along the Columbia River in very cold weather with inadequate clothing and footwear. It doesn't prove anything but it's intriguing. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Blevins wrote How do you know it was a conscious lie? Have you considered the possibility of a remotely induced false memory? I see it as proof that Snowmman's mind control experiment worked. He only uses hot women as test subjects. No randomized sampling, not needed. Snow's research protocol calls for double blonde in place of double blind. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Jumped yesterday in gorgeous CA summer weather. The views were incredible, Sacramento River Delta, SF City and Bay and quite a few sailplanes sharing the clear blue sky. Windy, but everything else was perfect. Somewhere in reading about the newest Cooperette, Marla Cooper, I saw mention that the FBI found DNA on the cut up reserve remains (lines?) and on the tie. If they match then the tie almost certainly had been worn by Cooper. I cant find the reference. Is this true or reporter generated "evidence"? I am late on the voting but I really like Farf's words and artwork. He is a real asset to the forum IMO. I wish Quade would consider probation for Snow. He will probably get banned again but until he did he'd really add value here. How about a ban vacation for a few weeks Quade? Let all the exhiles back for a trial period, Bob Knoss, Jamie Cooper, Snowmman, etc. Maybe they've mellowed and will "behave". Gray is appearing at a local book signing soon and I plan to go. Snow thinks I am nuts, but I'd like to see what Gray says and also get a feel for the book buying public's interest in DBC. Sluggo says Gray is a good guy and a Sluggo seal of approval means something to me. I hear Sheridan Peterson isnt even mentioned in Gray's book. That's odd to me since he was definitely an FBI suspect who merited a DNA request and lab work. He was cleared by the DNA test but is still a viable candidate in the eyes of some. I realize I might be doing a "Blevins" here by reposting a mantra about a suspect, but please look at these qualifications: USMC verteran USFS Smoke Jumper Boeing employee in tech docs during 727 roll out Night jumper Water jumper Skydive instructor Was broke in 1971, allegedly living in a mud hut in Nepal Witnessed attrocities in Viet Nam and has a grudge Reportedly asked a Boeing engineer about 727 rear door and stairs prior to his own employment there Wrote a novel mostly about Viet Nam which has bourbon drinking in it, a oddly out of place walk along the Columbia River during freezing weather in inadequate garb and ends with a semi suicidal solo parachute drop into enemy territory with anxiety about height of terrain below. He even tips the helo pilot a twenty as I recall. None of that makes Sheridan DBC, but it sure qualifies him. I am confident he could have pulled it off. On the other hand, Pete seems to be a very principled guy, strongly opposed to violence and no criminal history that I could find. He also reports that he was broke in 1973 and retruned to Viet nam as a civiilan contractor. See http://www.smartvoter.org/2006/11/07/ca/sn/vote/peterson_s/paper3.html Any Cooper publicity is good from my perspectiuve, Gray, Marla, Blevins, bring it on. Were it not for these periodic flareups the fire would have died decades ago. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Jo wrote about Jerry Thomas Jo, The armed forces would be very interested in these word weapons that can hospitalize targets. Come on Jo, Jerry didn't put you in the hospital. That's too big a stretch. And blaming Jerry for his daughter's drug problem (if she has one) is a low blow for you. You normally take a higher road. I know you blame Jerry for deliberately misleading you and he does attack you as a liar all the time here, but don't let his actions cause you to lower your own conduct standards. I do hope your health is improving and that you got your accident damage claim resolved satisfactorily. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

From Snow. I deleted an expletive here and there so that Quade won't shoot the messenger. The whole Dan Cooper comic facet is fascinating to me snd not because i see a link to DBC Here is the Snow material: This line bugged me from an interview with GG. I really hate authors that are full of [....] "While working with Carr, however, they were able to determine Cooper almost certainly took his alias from a French cartoon about a pilot and parachute expert." http://www.wtop.com/?nid=209&sid=2491179 I think it's important to see Gray for what he was and is. He wanted to pump up a story from the first day he heard about comic books. It didn't matter what the reality was. He excitedly brainstormed: " if we agree the the dan cooper comic book lead is too good to ignore, have you taken it a step further?" G Gray never posted to the forum. He did send me two PMs. I told him to fuck off, based on his obvious desire to come up with a story, as opposed to any reality. Here are G Gray's two PMs to me in 2008. Some mirrors work in two directions, GG. He is "ggjumpshot" at DZ.com. Now, anyone familar with Snowmman Industries, may wonder just how far this fraud went, and how much money was involved. Cat dead. Details later. -snowmman From: ggjumpshot Date Sent: Nov 3, 2008, 3:43 PM forgive me for waiting so long to contact you. i'm not a message board person, but have been following the case for some time and am now working on a book for crown publishing. (I know, another book, right?) anyway, i'm after pretty much everything in this thing but was particularly intrigued with your take on dan cooper the french comic. and other things. i have much to ask you. what's the best way? my email is xx@nymag.com (xxx-xxx-xxxx) after I replied to him, telling him he was a nut, he replied From: ggjumpshot Date Sent: Nov 9, 2008, 4:32 PM i see a lot of things in the toast. Jesus, maybe, but also Albert Weinberg. who? he's the creator of the dan cooper comic. he's from belgium. i think the coincidence between the cooper name and the cooper comic is too great to overlook. agree? if so, then how would the hijacker become acquainted with the french comic? i think he's european misses the point. he could easily be an american, or maybe even a canadian, stationed in france or elsewhere in europe during that time. He could even be at an airforce base. but now i am speculating... my question is: if we agree the the dan cooper comic book lead is too good to ignore, have you taken it a step further? i agree: this thing doesn't have to be so complicated. that's why the name he gave (dan cooper) seems like such a no-brainer lead. 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver.
