"The system that beats the system" text in the purported DBC letter was not pieced together from individual cut out words. The entire phrase was contained in a Playboy ad for KLH stereo systems. It doesn't prove anything but it raises the possibility that the writer saw the phrase (perhaps for the very first time), liked it and clipped it. Sheridan is perfectly qualified to be DBC and bears a resemblance to the sketches, but we have no evidence that puts him in the plane. He has no criminal record that I could find. Also he appears to abhor violence. Sheridan certainly does look good in his 2011 photo. I sincerely hope he is healthy. Sailshaw has recently flown in a wind tunnel and I must say he showed really great form. I saw a photo of him in a stable belly to earth position pivoting on the helmet of the instructor standing below him. OK Sailshaw, you are definitely ready for the real thing. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

If you just called him a highly qualified candidate rather than accusing him of a crime he wouldnt have much of a libel case. Threats of lawsuits abound on the Internet but 99.99999% of them never result in real litigation. It's too damned expensive. No lawyer would take a case like that on a contingency and the hourly rates would bankrupt most ordinary people. I don't know why Sheridan is largely ignored in the Cooper lore. He is one hell of a candidate. The FBI thought so too and only dropped him after running his DNA. On the other hand, Sheridan seems like a guy who after being in Viet Nam and witnessing atrocities, wanted nothing to do with violence. One self selected online moniker is Peacenik Pete. Frankly I have a hard time envisioning him threatening to kill innocent people with a bomb. Sailshaw, a retired Boeing engineer, is certain Peterson is DBC. He recalls Sheridan quizzing him about the 727 stairs years before the skyjack. Peterson went to work at Boeing in tech documents after Sailshaw was unable to give him 727 info. Sailshaw was working on the 737. Peterson was a USFS smoke jumper, expert skydiver, ex Marine, had night jump experience and a BIG grudge related to US atrocities witnessed in Viet Nam. His semi autobiographical novel has some striking parallels to Norjack. After I pointed this out on this forum he took down the web purchase site and wouldn't answer my inquiries about buying one. As far as I know sales were tiny and now it cannot be purchased. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

According to Marla's Facebook page, her manuscript is 435 pages long in Microsoft Word. Thank you for doing your research before commenting. Bad timing for Marla. Can you imagine if she had released the book right when the FBI was calling Dewey a promising suspect? Not one "Cooper" in the title of her book. Most folks these days wouldnt connect her title with DB Cooper. Anyone have a good street address for Sheridan Peterson? I have a Santa Rosa address but it's an old one. I want to send him a Christmas cheer basket, some wine, cheese, smoked salmon, tasty snacks etc. Seriously. Sheridan is old, sick and mostly forgotten. We need to let the pioneer jumpers know that the skydiving community still cares about them. He might still read this forum. If you do Sheridan send me a PM with your address. No strings, no demands for a DB Cooper interrogation, just want to send you a gift. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Blevins wrote Good for you Robert. Few here so readily admit error. You'll probably get crucified by the Blevins haters for this correction but I think it shows diligence, humility and good journalistic ethics. Gerstman was lying. His Foss tugboat story was pure BS, tug voyages aren't that long, but none of his lies are provably linked to complicity in Norjack. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Mark B wrote Likely outcome. The US Attorneys office could offer him immunity and force him to testify to a grand jury but "I don't recall" is used by a lot of people to dodge the perjury bullet when they can no longer invoke their 5th Amendment rights and are forced to answer questions. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Back in the early 60s there was no GPS. We couldn't afford radar. Tidal currents in SF Bay that vary from place to place made dead reckoning navigation inaccurate. One foggy night coming in from a fishing trip my Dad strayed inside the no sail zone at Alcatraz. By the time we figured out where we were our boat was quite close to the Alcatraz shore. They lit us up with a searchlight and warned us through loudspeakers to exit the area immediately or we would be fired on. We weren't interested in a gunfight and left right away. It was actually scary. I was pretty young at the time. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Blevins wrote If they had arranged boat pickup wouldn't it make sense to be picked in the bay up just outside the Alcatraz no sail zone? The voyage to Angel Island was extremely risky in a homemade raft. Also Angel Island is big. How would you arrange a night rendezvous? The guards on Alcatraz paid no attention to boats unless they came within about 100 yards of the island. If you came closer they got real excited. Searchlights, loudspeakers, threats to fire unless you exited promptly. Ask me how I know. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Thanks Mr. Shutter. It's a plausible report as to the scant body detail observed. Nothing more than a body with white trousers. What isn't plausible is the no US radio channel story. EVERY commercial ship had the international distress freq of 2182 KHz. Larger ones had in addition another international distress freq of 500 KHz. Their position at the time of the body sighting was within a few miles of USCG radio station NMC at Pt. Reyes which monitored both freqs 24/7/365. Other commercial shore stations such as KLH, KMI and KPH all had receive antennas in that area and all monitored at least 2182. KPH also monitored 500 KHz. I'm not buying the radio story told to the FBI. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Jo wrote Jo what evidence do you have that the events above actually occurred? Secure line? What exactly does that mean? I had a secret clearance and worked on classified programs but we didn't have "secure lines". We were cautioned that any call could be tapped and to use caution in what we discussed over the phone. What record is there of this alleged FBI contact? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Jo wrote Jo, Nobody here is working on behalf of the govt to prevent Norjack from being solved. That really is paranoid thinking. It's just a chaotic blog here. It threatens nobody. We don't matter to the govt. I know you disagree, but I think the FBI would LOVE to solve Norjack. It's their only unsolved skyjack. Your speculative conclusions about Duanes familial connection to 727 secrets is a perfect example of your bias. Not even the pilots, flight engineer or NWA operations had any info indicating that the 727 could be safely flown with the stair deployed. Yet you want us to believe that Duane knew this because some relative sold paint to Boeing??? Please Jo, reconsider your accusations that any forum participant is working for the govt to sabotage your investigation. You are way too smart to believe something that absurd. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Jo, In my opinion, using image recognition firmware embedded between my ears, they are photos of two different people. Horans ears extend higher above his eyebrow line than Anglin's. Horan's nose bridge width and taper is quite different from Anglin's. Horan's chin is narrower also, even accounting for age droop. Just my 25 cents worth. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Georger, Do you believe there was a currency debris field at Tena Bar? I've seen conflicting reports and just wonder what you think. The Tena Bar money is such a mystery. If I knew it arrived there by natural means, rather than human transport, it limits the possible explanations for its presence. A currency shard debris field would make it more likely that it arrived by river rather than human action. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Blevins wrote Good suggestion, Galen should do it if he hasnt already. The answer, however, may not be reliable. When I was a kid my best friend's dad was in the National Guard. On some weekends we'd go with him to the armory. He'd sign in and leave immediately. He joked with us that he was a weekend warrior for a minute a month. The guys in the unit all cooperated to falsify attendance records. There may also have been sloppy or after the fact attendance record keeping at Army bases. I dont think Gosset was DBC, but if he was he may have figured out a way to have a good alibi, such as base records showing he was present during the skyjack. Just a thought. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Farflung has proved again and again, by providing concrete examples, that whuffo skyjackers can make a jet jump and land alive. I continue to ignore this evidence and focus on the perfectly qualified candidates such as Ted Braden and Sheridan Peterson. Why do I act irrationally? In an earlier post I wrote Although it would arguably reflect badly on the skydiving community if Cooper, a felon, turned out to be one of us, I bet in their hearts most jumpers hope that he was. Many if not most old school jumpers kinda like the cool bad boy outlaw image of skydivers and DB Cooper sure nailed that one. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. A ship in 1962 not having a radio? Baloney. Ships in 1962 all had radios and several types. When entering SF they would almost certainly have required a Bar Pilot. The Bar Pilot pickups outside the SF entrance are arranged by radio. It's illegal for ships to enter SF without one unless the Master is a certified SF Bar Pilot and I've never ever heard of a foreign ship captain having this ticket. This ship story is so full of holes that I wonder if there is any useful info in it. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

When patches certified status and proclaimed skill

Steve1 wrote That braggart may have been lying but there were some Special Forces MACSOG HALO recon jumps in Nam. http://www.modernforces.com/SOG_halo_1.htm From my experience real Army SF, Army Rangers, USCG Rescue Swimmers and USAF PJs don't bring it up right away. The wannabes and posers launch the conversation with it. I've heard a lot of party and bar talk by supposed ex military jumpers who obviously had never been under a canopy even once. Speaking of patches conferring status, I got my SCR visiting Elsinore in the 70s. When I showed up at my home DZ wearing the patch the good RW guys thought I had stolen it. I "earned" it by letting a bunch of pros dock on me after a DC 3 exit. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968. -
Something's not right about this alleged incident. There is no bay traversed by ships that lies 20 miles NW of the GG Bridge. Saw a body in June and reported it in October??? If they were 20 miles NW of the GG they were beyond the dredged ship channel and would have been going full speed which was at least 16 knots and likely much faster. No way, even with binocs, could you see enough detail to say the body resembled someone. If they saw a body, especially one in obvious prison garb, they would surely have reported it right away. Drakes Bay is roughly NW of SF but in decades of commercial fishing I've never seen a ship in it. It's shallow and out of the transit routes for ships rounding Pt Reyes. See chart image attached. Shipping lanes are marked in purple. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Pretty unlikely. Ships exiting the Golden Gate have to use a dredged channel through various shoals including the Potato Patch, whose official name is Four Fathom Bank. With all the wind, current and tidal flow vectors a ship must maintain a certain speed to have steerage. My fishing boat's top speed was about 7.5 knots. Every ship I ever saw outbound from SF between the GG Bridge and the SF Lightship (later replaced by the SF entrance buoy) was going significantly faster. The decks of ships are high above the water and their bridge (wheelhouse) is even higher. So an observer on a ship would be seeing a floating body from at least 40 feet up and they would be passing it at speeds exceeding 7.5 knots. Not a chance in hell that they could see much detail IMO. http://www.epa.gov/region9/water/dredging/sf-channel-bar/ 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver.
