Robert, Standing next to a river like that without a fishing rod in your hand? Unacceptable behavior. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

So who did this brilliant satirical video collage? DORKZONE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UV40OIFQmIw Snow? Farflung? a lurker? I find it amazing. The whole forum experience in a few minutes minus the bickering. What do my fellow film critics think? Could it be primarily a web crawling spider harvest of pictures posted here? Perhaps, but I think I see images that have not been posted here. It has my vote for the DBC forum Oscar. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Thats proof enough for me Sluggo. Still, I am really pissed that the FBI missed me. I had travelled to Seattle recently, was still jumping military gear, and had all kinds of Boeing airliner flight manuals in my home library. I think some jumpers lied about being questioned. It was a status symbol back then. Funny, I spoke with some friends whose daughter has taken up jumping and has about 100 jumps at Lodi. They told me just weeks ago that the DZ was run by a person believed to have been DB Cooper, Bill Dause. Bill isnt even close to the physical description but the legend persists. With over 26,000 jumps and a lot of left seat hours in transport category aircraft there is little doubt that Bill had the air skills. I think about Larry Carr reading his forum, barred from posting and getting a few laughs at our wild tangents and intermitent squabbling. No real progress has been made. We need some new blood, some new ideas, a visit from Tom to tell us what he has been doing with all that test equipment and instrumentation. What about pollen, was that wild goose chase? What about the edge erosion and bored holes in the money? Dredged up ionto the bar or not? Inquiring minds want to know. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Q: What is the model of the largest radial engine ever used to power a civilian jumpship? A: The P&W R4360-59B Wasp Major "AKA corncob"... 28 oil sliinging cylinders, basically four 7 cyl radials lined up with a common crankshaft. Four of these beasts powered the surplus C 97 that dropped demo teams into an airshow in Southern Calif back a few decades ago. The plane was owned by the Foundation for Airborne Relief, an ill fated venture to assemble a fleet of surplus C 133s and C 97s for relief flights and medical support. That's 224 spark plugs on one plane! 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Georger wrote: Georger, I think you are confusing the DC7 pilot with Sheridan Peterson. Different people. Sheridan was never arrested by the FBI or anyone else as a Norjack suspect. One thing about Sheridan that distinguishes him from many others is that everything he posts about his remarkable history checks out. No lies, no exaggeration. He is a rabid peacenik. I like seeing him take on war mongers on military blogs. He fought in the South Pacific as an underage Marine in WW2. He was a skydiver, smoke jumper, Boeing employee etc. Made night jumps too. All of it checks out. None of it makes him Cooper, but the FBI didn't rule him out until they got a DNA sample. He has a huge grudge against the govt that has it's roots in atrocities he witnessed in Viet Nam as a civilian refugee advisor. He looks a lot like the FBI sketch too, but I don't put much stock in witness assisted sketches. During my work in criminal law I saw so many sketches that were waaaay off. They'd catch the guy who did the crime and the evidence was overwhelming, and he wouldn't look at all like the sketch. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Jo wrote: Funny how every single piece of tangible evidence that might prove Duane was DBC is "missing". Could there be another logical conclusion one could draw from this state of affairs, such as Duane lied about being Dan Cooper and had nothing to do with Norjack? Please Jo, just consider the possibility. You have no evidence that what Duane told you from his hospital bed was true. You just have unsubstantiated hunches, beliefs and yes... hopes. It pains me to see this obsession consume you, but maybe it is what keeps you going. Still, I am glad to have you here. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Jo wrote: Jo, Sorry if you feel bullied by me, but your wildly speculative posts linking every anomaly in Duane's life to Norjack simply invite frank hardball responses. It is absurd to think the FBI planted re-sellable traceable "bait" in with the twenties. Any hijacker with half a brain would see the trap. The FBI did plant tracking beacons in some hijacker's chutes, but that makes sense. If I thought a friend was Cooper and I found an unusual medallion in his belongings would it make sense to think that it was something planted in the loot by the FBI? Of course not. You HAVE said in numerous posts that Duane was Cooper, then you backtrack and say he was DBC or knew him etc. Put him on the plane with solid evidence, don't assume every odd trinket was some secret "plant" by the FBI. Read about "confirmation bias". Orange called it spot on. I still think Sheridan Peterson would have made a hell of a Dan Cooper. Does Georger think Pete's cranial facial features rule him out? The FBI sure didn't. They had to use DNA to eliminate him as a suspect. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Ignore all threats Sluggo. Keep posting. Cooper looks chuteless in that mock up for the display. Isn't that just an ordinary back pack on him not a parachute harness and container? Hey, who cares, it is a neat exhibit and keeps the legend alive. Good to see you back on the forum my friend. Hey, what happened to Tom and the the Science Team? http://www.comicvine.com/dan-cooper-laffaire-minos/37-233354/ The artist who drew Dan Cooper knew a lot about aircraft. His simple depictions of RCAF CF 104 Starfighters are exquisite, that plane must have been a favorite. He also does a beautiful CL 215 amphibian, another Canadian plane. His accuracy on parachute stuff is OK, but not nearly as good as his airplane drawings. On the "Minos" cover, he draws the old style pinch and pull Capewell riser releases about right, but is missing some structural detail. The deploying canopies look wrong, loose lines and not squiddy enough. He does get the pulled ripcord held in hand correct, but seems not to understand how a sleeve works. The sleeve would be retained (it isnt in the pix) and the lines come all the way out before the canopy is unsleeved. The artist does a very good Beech 18 on one cover. Far Flung should study it closely 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Jo, what on Earth are you talking about? Norjack was just a crime, not a conspiracy involving the US government. Do you also think the govt planted explosives in the WTC towers to assure their collapse after the hijacked 757s hit them? When you have to resort to a massive conspiracy theory to explain an event, you are almost always wrong. We should all be shaving regularly with Occam's razor, too many five o'clock shadows around this forum. Blevins is OK in my book. As Orange pointed out, he is one of the very few here who retracts a claim when it is proven wrong. The KC story is interesting even if he wasn't DBC. I wish Blevins could weave in some intrigue about KC and the atomic tests at Bikini. Where is Mr. Nuke these days? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Nope, we are no longer even Far Flung. Your second photo labeled Lockheed Electra is a Twin Beech (C 45). You must have seen Amelia, the recent movie and been confused. They alternated between a real Electra and Beech 18 throughout the movie. I was appalled. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

You definitely got me on confusing Chester with Festus. We'll call it even. I havent seen a Cessna T 50 flying in years. I did see one being decimated by beetles a few years back. The fabric was shredded and insects were feasting on the airframe. Sad, but the ultimate in aircraft recycling. Still see a Beech 18 flying now and then. If we legalize marijuana in CA (up for a vote in Nov) the Beech 18 will have very few prospects for gainful employment. I think one DZ in Canada may still use them but in the US I dont think they fly regularly at any DZ. Arizona rolls out the radial powered antiques once in a while for a boogie, but it's a turbine show day to day. Did you notice that the chase plane in the Air America 727 Thailand jump films appears to be a Beech 18? Wonder if it was a Volpar turbine conversion? Pretty big speed mismacth between a 727 and Beech 18. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

I've said it before, but GPS ground speed tells you VERY valuable info when you are at the door deciding how long to wait after the prior group has exited. Slow ground speed dictates long waits to exit after the prior jumpers. It's pretty simple physics. I wish DZs would mount a GPS showing ground speed near the door. That info combined with your eyeballs and some common sense would eliminate a lot of hazards and misconceptions about exit separation. I fooled around with a wrist mounted Garmin Summit GPS (it has a baro altimiter sensor and flux gate compass built in). I was trying to see if I could fly circles during descent and calculate winds aloft by looking at peaks and dips in ground speed indications during the turns. It was useful at the door also as I could see ground speed of the aircraft. I was surprised one time over the Monterey CA DZ. Ground winds werent excessive but they were honking aloft. On jump run we were doing les than 10 knots ground speed. I waited a long tiime at the door and you could see that we were barely moving relative to the ground. Prior jumpers seemed to descend nearly straight down. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Shirley Ellis, "The Name Game". 1964, reached number 3 on the charts. I greatly preferred "The Real Nitty Gritty" which she recorded a year earlier but it only made number 8. I wonder if NWA still was flying Boeing 377s when KC was working at Sheyma? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Farflung, you have made the classic airplane trivia mistake. Before Sky King upgraded to a Cessna 310B, his sky mount was a Cessna T 50 Bamboo Bomber, not a Twin Beech. You can redeem yourself by recalling the RIPCORD heroes TV names and their company plane type. I never could get used to limping Festus from Gunsmoke being a skydiver on another channel. And how could you leave out Col. Steve Canyon. the squarest jawed of all the comic strip/book square jaw aviators? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Not exactly the response of a scammer. Good for you Robert. I do believe truth matters to you and you've demonstrated it here to my satisfaction. People have false memories all the time, jumbling up chronologies, etc. Skip may have reported exactly what he found, but it was bad info. You can see I am an optimist and it extends to character assessments. Carry on and keep us informed. BTW, do you do the commercial house cleaning yourself or just manage it or both? No shame in cleaning, real work is honorable. I worked as a janitor for a summer in a factory, cleaned floors, injection molding machines and toilets too. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. And Quade, don't jump on us for posting relevant info that originates from Snowmman. Neither Jo or I are fronting his personal stuff, just his research. I should give up trying to get Quade to let Snowmman return. Snow would never show any respect for Quade and he'd probay get exhiled again. I keep hoping Quade will be bigger than that and let Snow back on with a lot of slack. Snow is one of the best researchers who has posted. He finds all sorts of stuff others miss. BTW Quade reads everything. I did a little Cooper fishing in the bat wing thread and he was on it in a flash, but he went easy on me. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Snow is in exile on Devils Island. Requests for clemency have fallen on deaf ears in Paris... or is it Perris? I apparently am not permitted to channel Snow but can relay facts. Snow thinks Blevins and Porteus are scamming, but I don't agree. They may be misinformed but I don't see cynical stuff in Blevins. Call me Pollyanna. Anyway, Snow knows a lot about the history of the Dan Cooper comics and has the following relevant info 377 Dan Cooper by Belgian cartoonist Albert Weinberg (1922-) appeared originally in the weekly TINTIN Magazine. The Cooper strip started in 1954. Weinberg started working for Tintin (Belgian magazine) in 1950. The first issue of Tintin was Sept 25, 1946. The Dan Cooper character existed from 1954-1977. Again, the first Dan Cooper strip, anywhere, was 1954, well after Cochran was on Shemya. Rick Cochran was only on Shemya from 1950-51. His email is available here, along with confirmation of 1950-1951. (he was there for only about 8 months?). No matter what that f*er says...he's not in on it. So ignore him. http://www.hlswilliwaw.com/aleutians/Shemya/html/northwest_airlines_on_shemya.htm It is not possible for Rick Cochran to have seen a Dan Cooper comic, of any kind on Shemya. Please, everyone on DZ.com, don't reveal this until after the History Channel deal is done. We can work out the details after it's over. There's plenty to spread around. People can google the details above. 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

His personal and skydiving history is remarkable. I have tried to contact him but he doesn't reply to my emails. I too would love to buy him a coached jump. Cossey has been known to give out incorrect and misleading info. I think he likes messing with Cooper people. Norjack was really one big hassle for him, a moment of fame and no bucks. Unless the FBI paid him for the lost and damaged gear, Norjack actually was a real net loss for him Arguably Cossey still owns DBC's chute. It is valuable. A collector would pay several thousand to own it, perhaps a lot more. He could slice it up and sell pieces on eBay. If the Amboy chute was the one Cossey packed and Cooper used he wouldn't just let it go. He'd verify its identity and claim it as his own. For these reasons I don't think the Amboy chute was Cooper's. Besides, it is too old. I don't think Cossey would be using a 1946 chute for his bailout rig in 1971. By then more modern C9 ripstop nylon canopies were dirt cheap and far better than that vintage rag found in Amboy. The buried aspect is very curious though. Why would anyone bury a canopy unless they were trying to hide it? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
