  1. There are also gonna be the "right wingers" in the world, whats worse, is they typically have a huge group people that beleive every word they say, after all they are doctors, lawyers and scientist, how culd they possibly be wrong?....
  2. Its a law in Florida as well; I voted for it 4 years ago and it passed. I have alot of friends who smoke, and I could plainly see thier side, however...having two sons who were born premature and had lung problems at birth were enough for me. Smoke in restaurants can not read the signs that say "smoking area", nor does it stop at the walls that were intended to seperate the smoking section from the non smoking section. It is nice to know that I can goto any restaurant with my children and know that I do not have to worry about finding the seat the farthest away from the smoking section in a feeble attempt to protect my kids from the invisible clouds of smoke. I am speaking for the health and well being of my kids by doing this. Until they are old enough to make their own decisions about their health, it is my duty and I shouldnt have to sacrafice a night out ont he town with my family b/c my sons were born with health issues that can be severely aggrevated by 2nd hand smoke.
  3. the Sunshine Factory at Zhills rents rigs for around $65.00 for a full day or $35.00 for half a day. This (dont quote me on this) covers your packing as well, I know it covers a reserve repack if you happen to need one on their rental gear, but lets hope not....There is a link to Sunshine Factory on the Zhills website; Skydive City - Zhills
  4. Just with my expierence in life and the world, I know you are correct on this, however I still do not understand it, from my first jump to now, skydiving is such a huge part of my life and I can not concieve how someone can only make 1 jump or even more than that leave the sport after 3 or 4 years. It just doesnt make in any sense to me.
  5. My hubby is about 1/2 way thru getting his private license. He has been jumping for 4 years. For the longest time (from childhood) up to about 5 years ago I really wanted to be a pilot, even in the past 5 years it was still always somewhere on my mind. However, since I became a skydiver, I pretty much lost interest in it and then when my hubby started flying lessons and I got a good look at the practice tests and all the shit you have to know to just have a private license, i pretty much lost any remaining interest that I had. I had rather just be "along for the ride", with a trusty rig that is...
  6. I was born in 74, but I have, thanks to my Dad a very well rounded taste in music, and there are groups and songs dating clear back to the 30's that I love. To me, what I like musically, is actually a part of "who I am"...
  7. That was so sweet, I hope one day to meet you and you will call me a friend as well, everyone likes to know that they are appreciated, especially for the little things. Your post made me smile, thanks!
  8. as my husband was getting out of the shower the other day, I over hear him talking to our already insane kitty kat and I him refer to himself as "dada"... "Do you want to get in the shower with dada, kitty girl?" Given we have been parents for nearly 10 years now, but that still struck me as really funny!
  9. Damn, u made me fall off my chair in laughter, just caught me funny......
  10. I dont know whyt I was told that as a student and cant recall which instructor told me, its just something that I recall really sticking out in my mind.
  11. When I got married, I took my husbands last name with pride, and at the time was exicted about loosing my maiden name for reasons, that I have since overcome and wont elaborate into. I have been married for 7 years, and am still hapily married...however I since re-added my maiden name into mine, since my dad is someone I am very proud of and I am proud to carry both names. However it is not set in stone that the bride to be must take her future husbands last name, I have heard of, no name change at taking place as well as the groom taking his brides name. It would be interesting to do some research into it to see where all of the practices got thier start and why. BTW, congratulations to you an Morgan!
  12. say on a heavily loaded plane, somebody fainted from unseen medical problem and didnt immediately regain conciousness. What would most like be the chain of events to take place? I know this may seem to be a stupid question, but as I was pondering I came up with several different scenarios and possibilities of what may happen. One of my major questions is related to this; while I was coming thru AFF, I was taught that if I was going to ride the plane down, then my cypres should be turned off.... IF the plane was heavily loaded what would be quicker, a mass emergency exit (depending on altitude, of course) or everyone turnng their cypres off or is turning it off even necesary? I have miliion "what if's" pertained to this, so I hope to get some answers, as stupid as it may seem to some, I just like to be prepared for any situation on the jump plane.
  13. ditto, I dont have a whole lot of advice, if any since I am relatively a new jumper myself at 57 jumps. Relaxation is the major thing tho... I can remember being nervous about jumping from a new plane for the first time, I started AFF exiting from a caravan, and mostly finished from a 182. I certainly remember how it strange it felt climbing out of the 182 for the first time...I prefer exiting larger planes over small planes still, but hanging from the wing of a cessna is one of my favorite exits. I failed cat C like 3 or 4 times, I was very discouraged, and each time I felt more and more pressure to get it right. I stopped and took a break in the wind tunnel worked on "what I was doing wrong" after some time in the wind tunnel, i finsihed AFF and graduated w/ flying colors in no time. The wind tunnel, was a huge training aide and advantage for me. Good luck..
  14. Glad you got your power back quick... but 2 days, shit thats nothing for us "Florida" pros...haha BTW, todays forcast: high of 79, with beautiful blue skies
  15. Silly, who'da thunk it? 2 minutes from the airport... That would be a sight tho, laying on the beach and seeing that!

  17. I hit option two, sitting at 57 jumps, I cant wait to skysurf or learn how, it looks like so much fun!
  18. That was one funny story! Thanks for sharing. I worked at a stockyard thru my senior year sorting cows that came in on semi's. So I reallated to your story first hand, it can get messy. I have had cow shit from head to toe....
  19. so left me see if I understand your post correctly, someone WOULD have to give YOU a jump ticket to watch me runaround the tent nekkid?[
  20. damn , now im balling, I was left out twice.... do I smell?
  21. Okay, so the last time I was at my dz, hanging around the packers tent, I said I would run around the packing tent nekkid for a jump ticket, I was not being serious, just joking, then a ticket was shoved in my face, I didnt do it, shyness got the better half off me (and I dont think im really "running around the packing tent nekkid" material, im not ugly, just not all that either...."anyway, so it made me curious, what would you do fro a jump ticket?
  22. Wow, thanks guys! I didnt expect any responses really to my post, I was just "whining" I am feeling better today, not 100%, but been able to function somewhat normally. This has definitly been the worst and longest cold I have ever had, it was pure hell. At times, I litterally thought I was dying, now I have aspirations of actually jumping this weekend, and running around our packing tent nekkid for a jump ticket..(Long story...hehe)
  23. Is the merge a done deal now? Any cingular rep I ask has no idea, I have been with cingular for 3 years and love their service, I had had ATT before and like the majority of thier customers (past & present) I hated it. Cingular, however, gets two thumbs up in my opinion.
  24. crying cuz I was left out too......
