    hmm, good question I do beleive in soul mates, I don't think you have to have met them (physically). In my opinion this person has always existed, and sometimes it may take months or years of just being friends over the phone, internet whatever and waiting for "your" time to come together. (ex: if your currently in a relationship with other people) There's is somethng in one's gut that gives you that inkling, I think.
