Thanks Jorge, I've been through SJU a couple of times in the past year, and security was pretty fast both times. I was thinking about going to Old San Juan. But if there really isn't enough time, It may have to be the beach. Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!

Ahhh.... Yeah,...thanks Ian. Maybe, I'll go see the baggage handlers do their thing or go to the bank.... BTW, the layover will be on a Sunday, so I don't know what would be open Thanks Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!

In a few weeks, I'll have a 6 hour layover at San Juan Airport, and the idea of just sitting there isn't very appealing. Any suggestions as to what to do during that time? Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!

I actually don't know what the diagnosis was -- I think it was hemorrhoids. The diagnosis is a small part of the grade, how you conduct the interview and the questions you ask is far more important. Yes, i agree that sex up the pooper should not be considered as the only possible cause of bleeding. It was just really unexpected. Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!

Med school exam (2nd year) Today we had a Behavioral Sciences oral exam -- We get 12 min to conduct a patient interview and get proper history, and explore the all aspects of the pt's personal life. We are graded on the questions asked flow of interview, diagnosis, a couple of differentials and plan. It's 11% of the total grade so it's important enough. There are few scenarios they use -- mine was nice and simple - pelvic inflammatory disease __my proctor was a bastard but that's ok. Here's the WTF? The other scenario they were using was: 25 year old male - Homosexual with Rectal bleeding - WTF ! What do you do with that? Tell him to stop it doing it or lube it up? :-) **Disclaimer** I'm not implying that there is anything wrong with being a homosexual. **Disclaimer end** It was just an odd case that surprised a lot of people. Other cases included a hypochondriac with migraines and another was a depressed patient who started to hitting on the interviewing student. Really weird. Most cases in the past have been nice, simple and straight foward. They must really hate my class. Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!

How do you buy a used aad?
Superman32 replied to Superman32's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think that most of us would not even think about buying a canopy or container (from a stranger) without getting it checked out by a rigger, aside from any claims the seller may be making. So the question is, how do you buy a used aad? Should you send it back to the manuf. for a check up? Are riggers able to test them? do you just trust the self diagnostic? Just trust the seller? I would like to believe, that we are a big happy family, looking out for each other's best interest and safety, but unfortunately that is not always the case. Wouldn't it be nice if it were? Thanks for all the kind words. I do hope to become a good and caring doctor someday. This case was specially gratifying to me, because just about a week ago, one of my classmates told me she too was very depressed and suicidal. Her mother died of cancer about a year ago, and to make matters worse, we are currently studying cancer. We talked, I reassured her, but not much else to do. She is undergoing treatment, but its still an uphill battle. The funny thing is that I'm last person I would talk to. I'm a total ass, always taking things lightly and making fun of people, just an overall jackass. It's surprising these people felt comfortable talking to me. P.s. Psychiatry is something I would never consider as a career choice. Everything is up in the air, no immediate satisfaction. Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!

As some of you may know, I'm the distraught med student, who stops lurking about every 4 weeks and bitches about my upcoming exams, but this post is not about that. As a 2nd year med student a lot of emphasis is placed on how to properly and thoroughly conduct a medical interview. Once a week we get patients, that come in, complaining of the normal stuff, like pains, diabetes, high blood pressure and the like. Today, I did an interview with a diabetic woman that came in complaining knee pain. The interview went in as it normally does, nothing exciting, until it came time to discuss her mental health. She discussed her 4 kids and work, but I felt she was holding back, so I dug deeper. My nice, run of the mill knee pain, was very depressed and SUICIDAL. She had made several plans as to how she was going to carry this out. This mother of 4 went as far as having set up and placed a rope around her neck to hang herself, but was interrupted by her 3 year old child walking in (poor kid ). This poor woman did not have anyone she could talk, and no real coping mechanisms. She was very reluctant to talk to doctors, but with some care and constant mention her children, she finally agreed to meet with our program director. The pt. said this was the first time she had ever spoken to anybody about these feelings, which had been going on for a couple of years. I know she came in looking for help, so if it wasn't me she would probably have spoken to somebody else, nevertheless, it felt good. It felt really good to help this woman get the aid she desperately needs. I'm not sure, if it was the training we are getting, or just general empathy that allowed this woman to open up, but today while drowning in a sea of books, facts and sometimes useless information, I felt I was actually a step closer in becoming a doctor

I bought a Dell PDA, Axim x50v, a couple of years ago for school but have hardly used it -- maybe 3-4 hours total. I want to start using it now, but yesteday the thing wouldn't go on. Talked to Dell today and long story short, the operating system they sent me isn't compatible with the x50. So Dell is willing to send me a REFURBISHED Axim x51v to replace my essentially new X50, or send me the older operating system. The question is, have you ever gotten anything refurbished from Dell? What kinda quality was it in? Was it scratched to hell? What do you think? Thanks Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!

Like I said, it is an asexual experience, especially when you have cold sweat running down your brow as the preceptor, patient and other students are starring you down.....

I have a friend who is drop dead gorgeous, female doctor. During her residency she would periodically get some dirt bags, that would suddenly develop all types of penis ailments, which ofcourse had to be checked by her. Unlike you Billy, they did not try to hold back their bonner, and occasionally added some moaning to it. This became such a nuisance that she made a deal with one of her fellow interns, where she would do pelvics and he would address the sudden urologic problems. Suprisingly, when the pts found out some guy was going to be doing the exam, their ailments would dissappear just as quickly as it had appeared. Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!

During the 2nd year of Med School young doctors to be, start to learn how to do physical exams. While the experience is completely asexual, I have this HUGE FEAR of the words: "Can you please remove the gown" be quickly followed by wood So what you do... Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!

DON'T It f'ing sucks. It's now 3:30 am and i've been here since 9:00 am (again). There's more info that anyone could ever know, shoved down your throat and you only a few hours for learn (memorize) it until the next day comes with an even bigger mountain. I wish I had time to REALLY learn this stuff. -- Little piece of trivia: Did you know that most med students don't go to class. It's a waste of time. I missed the days that I would skip class and do something fun, but now, its just like the weekends -- Just more time to study. BTW. I REALLY WANT TO F'ing JUMP. questions about adrenaline
Superman32 replied to aloneinthesky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Great topic, I just had adrenergic drugs last friday in Pharm, so here a few adverse effects of epinephrine (aka adrenaline) *Central Nervous System - Cerebral hemorrhage - i.e., stroke (from marked elevation in blood pressure), anxiety, tremors, fear, headache, tension, etc.. *Cardiovascular - Hypertension(see above), ventricular arrhytmia, tachycadia (sinus), anginal pain, palpitations, etc... *Lungs - Pulmonary edema Thats all I remember, need to go study... but procrastination is so gooood so it could end your life or debilitate you if you're in the habit of getting shots of epi. , but not from endogeneous production. Your friend is sorta kinda right, in a completely clueless wrong way. Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches! -
Because you're finishing your first semester of med school. You had 2 practicals last week, a test covering the past month, (in a few hours), a semester final in 9 days (only about 5 phone books worth of info that must know by then), You have not slept more than 4 (sometimes 5 hours) in the past week. You feel you don't know anything.... Yeah skydiving is cool. Nothing I rather be doing right now Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!
