New to jumping and wondering what is the best gear to buy
2shay replied to Honeybee's topic in Gear and Rigging
USED do not buy new once again as everyone else has said. Containers: Vector 3, Mirage, Voodoo. Canopies: Spectre, triathlon, or relativley any other entry level canopy, no sabres though. Reserves: PD, Precision raven. AAD cyress why say this and only this is because they are proven from years and years of saves. I highly reccomend speaking with your rigger and instructor. Try to talk to them both at the same time. It is a lot easier to understand why and how about gear when you do it in person. Good luck don't try your bullshit with me!!! -
thats why i said all reccomendations are excellent. =) don't try your bullshit with me!!!
-
All of these reccomendations are excellent however PD has the proven track record for extensive research and development. That is what I would reccomend don't try your bullshit with me!!!

thats effing awesome I have really been wondering when i would see someone with some power help skydivers out. I am still worried about the whole faa restructuring crap. don't try your bullshit with me!!!

I have landed by a nursing home before and an old farm women who had a heart of gold gave us a ride, not my spot though. The fun ones are when the uppers are one direction and the ground winds are in a different direction. I have also seen days when the winds were doing little to nothing and we couldn't land on the dz even the owner, who had thousands upon thousands of jumps, was scrathing his head about it. I have yet to blow a spot, but I think they are kinda like mals you will after a while. this sport can be pretty funny sometimes. I love this sport too =) don't try your bullshit with me!!!

finally im no the only one who has seen javlelins screw people. I used to jump one myself. so many people love them and think they are the absolute best and I just don't agree don't try your bullshit with me!!!
-
well people in the uspa are on this website and i can almost guarantee they know about the issue don't try your bullshit with me!!!
-
I can see where you coming from and it kinda makes sense. Most of the time 100 jumps is just not enough to have much knowledge of anything in the sport. I have seen people pushed through the coach programs who were not skilled enough too. don't try your bullshit with me!!!
-
did you go through rawa or aerostore. I got mine through aerostore. I tried to just get it from radir the owner of rawa, but the language barrier was too much. If anything i think aerostore if of course you haven't talked with them yet, could certainly let you know whats up. don't try your bullshit with me!!!

i had over 100 jumps before six months i am athletic and pick up on stuff fast and had more skill than some people who had more experience BUT, there is no way that i would get my coach rating then. My opinion is that you should be pretty damn good before you can jump w students however many would not agree with that. would you feel comfy with someone that had six motnhs in the sport, or even a year for good measure for that matter? I personally wouldn't. Hopefully this may give people a different view on the subject don't try your bullshit with me!!!

All just reccomendations but they are there from years of history and research. I would go by the numbers on this one, but its up to you I started camera around 150 jumps and had no problems at all. I don't reccomend L bracket type set up. I have friends that jump them and don't have a problem, but my opinion is that you eliminate snag points when going with an enclosed set up. don't try your bullshit with me!!!

Sherry the owner, is an excellent person to work with. She knew exactly what i wanted before i could tell her. I told her my size and how i fly and she put it all together and she had it on my doorstep the day i asked her to. The suit really looks fantastic. Awesome job Sherry!!! Thanks
-
to me that shouldnt be an issue you shouldnt have to modify your rig to be safe it should come that way hence vector 3 mirage etc. javelins design is old most companies got rid of the downward closing flap years ago other than that javelin is an excellent rig and they also need secondary riser covers seen couple of friends w em open and didnt know it i mean come on totally easy fixes in my opinion they need to get with the program don't try your bullshit with me!!!
-
firefly builds an awesome suit at a awesome price and sherry is awesome at what she does she is very easy to work with don't try your bullshit with me!!!
-

-
needing a good digital setup for tandems this summer this will be my first digital set up i want a solid camera and still not lose my bank account in the process and if anyone knows anyone w a good used set up let me know please. I jump a rawa w a pc 109 if that helps at all. was also going to go with goldmember pretty sleek lookin to me don't try your bullshit with me!!!
-
vector 3 but all you have listed are great would not recommend javelin. i had one and sold it the main closing flap would always be open when sit flying. seen that on other peoples javelins as well. then of course have people tell me that theirs have never been open the sheer design is outdated in my opinion don't try your bullshit with me!!!
-

-
to me and people i talk w true eliminates confusion w flat to pro thats all and yes i totally 100% agree w the nose pointing forward, the nose pointing to the outside will be no different, but why not have it oriented w where you want it to go don't try your bullshit with me!!!
-
flat pack but nose is to the outside is what i think of when i hear flat maybe not right but thats what i think don't try your bullshit with me!!!
-
thats what i meant. and said that because people have a million diff names for flat packing, flat , side, flat to pro, side to pro etc. don't try your bullshit with me!!!
