Pitting of course leads to corrosion; which once started was hard to stop in areas of high humidity. There are something like 50 grades of stainless steel and the harder the grade, the less likely the galling process was to start. Add to that; that one could help minimize the galling process by using a better lube (one of the reasons for not using WD-40 on your weapons - its not a lube). Lubing not something one wants to do on their three rings. I am not comfortable making any kind of recommendation when it comes to your situation, but I personally would be more inclined to be concerned if it were chrome rings against stainless steel. Since we're now in the area of metallurgy... would recommend that you wait to get a definitive answer from the manufacturer or a Billvon type.
