I recently found out that commissions are paid to the store and the sales clerk for pushing buyers to finance. SO... rather than make some commission on the sale like Jim's case... they push it so hard and make it sound like they hate cash customers that they send them out the door. The silliness of paying clerks commission or spiffs on the extended warranties, financing and every other up-sell ever developed to illicit more money than develop a returning customer base. Whilst good intent... just creates a black market of sales for cash to purchase drugs. There will always be abuses in a system of welfare, but the best prevention is in educating the next generation on what opportunities they have and the path to get there. Most cities now have a pretty fair-good Workforce Development team. I find it interesting in the number of 20ish year olds who show up because THEY want to change the cycle. One thing popular prime time media has done is expose these kids to "seeing" what they can do; not what's always been done. The issue is not the medal. The issue is it's ranking above the BS(V) or SS(V) What is the problem with awarding an ARCOM which... is awarded to any member of the Armed Forces who distinguishes himself or herself by heroism, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service. This award can also be granted to a foreign national who distinguishes himself or herself by an act of heroism, extraordinary achievement, or meritorious service which has been of mutual benefit to a friendly nation and the United States. The ARCOM can be given for heroism in combat or noncombat and for achievement or service during peacetime or wartime. I'm still seeing red. One doesn't even have to be in THEATER!!! They can be in St. Louis at a computer screen and the ground pounders that are getting shot, shot at, CBRNE up close and personal can get the BS or SS with "V" and the guy in Stl Louis gets a higher fucking medal.
