It promotes twisted brake lines (so I was told - I don't daisy-chain, so I haven't actually seen this happen...)

It took me most of yesterday morning to get mine up! Sophisticated skydiving equipment? Nooo problem... pushing the buttons in the correct sequence on this computer? AARRGGGHHHHHH Don't give up, Divadiver!!!

Yeah, I agree he was in over his head. Some people here have found this "amusing" or "funny", but quite frankly, I don't think a bystander being seriously injured in a skydiving accident is the least bit funny. I wonder how her family is feeling today... I bet the jumper isn't too proud of his actions, either. It reminds us that jumping in high winds is not safe, particularly if your jump is a demo... Frank

Hey, Bossman - hows' bout a skydiving song? "...exit, exit..." Remember that one? Frank

Hey, Grogs - I have one bad eye, too. I fell out of a tree when I was a kid and damaged my optic nerve... So I don't see too well out of my left eye, but my right eye has compensated and has above average vison now... anyway, my depth perception is a little weak, too. Does it cause you any grief at flare time? Frank

'Sis, I agree with the others who have concerns about the laser surgery... make sure you do LOTS of research and get the best, not the cheapest. Working in news, we recently did a series on laser surgery, and sure enough we had a fellow who was totally screwed after a botched surgery by a "cheap" outfit. Remember: "buyer beware". Frank

The people who taught me how to pack advised against "daisy-chaining"... instead, try rolling up the lines like you would an electrical extension chord. Once you are up to the slider, lift the mess off the ground, reach down and get the pilot chute and d-bag with your free hand, pass them over and grab them with same hand you are using to hold the lines, and swing the whole thing over your left (or right) shoulder.

Spring Break??? Oh yeah, I remember those days (vaguely)... Be good, and have lotsa fun!!!

Sorry if our conversation is not to your taste - but we don't want your pity! This is the only place we have to share our thoughts and ideas about a variety of subjects -- sometimes one thing turns into another ... if you need a serious discussion about hook turns, perhaps try the safety and training forum... there is less of the "chatter" there that you find so annoying. You can find a short clip of the accident on this page: http://www.mycfnow.com/orlpn/countynews/volusia/stories/volusia-53012820010307-150325.html

Ah, yes, the American legal system... everybody sues everybody else. I think I want Jackie Chiles for my lawyer... (please don't sue me because of my comments!)

Ok, then he did one "not too high" turn before a low turn... I would check the web pages of the NBC affiliate in the area to find streaming video of this... I'll take a look and see if I can it anywhere.

I just watched video of the crash on an NBC server (I work in a tv news room). The canopy pilot didn't look confident during his approach, and he seemed to be using way too much toggle input. He did 2 low turns, and crashed into the woman during a turn. Nothing funny about this at all... Frank

Ok, I think I've got it this time...
-
I wonder how many demo's he had done previous to this crash landing?

Let's see if I've uploaded mine properly... hhmmmm ... needs some more work I guess...

With regards to the "sick feeling" for some tandem passengers, I have heard speculation that motion sickness can occur when you are not the one controlling the motion. Anyone have any knowledge of this? Frank
-
Definitely not! I'm already an "enthusiast"... I just wanna appear to know what I'm doing when I reply to other posts... (because, as you know, appearance is everything!)
-
Ok, as everyone is feeling "testy", somebody please make it clearer to me how to reply with a quote... Thanks! Frank (not quite computer literate - yet)

'Sis, you'll always be a "super sky goddess" to us!

Some people here (triple F for example) are real car buffs ... for me, a car is just a form of transportation to get you from here to there. I drive a 91 Voyager Van which holds my hockey gear, skydiving gear, scuba gear (sounds like I might get to use it all again soon!), my telescope, plus my wife and 2 kids! And it's gonna pull the tent trailer this summer, too...

Carrie, I'm a "Senior ENG Editor" at CHEK TV in Victoria, BC. Translation: We put together all of our television newscasts. I've seen lots of tape today of the storm in the North East. And too many pictures of the school shooting in California. I edit all the video that goes on the news!

My DZ is small, and it gets pretty crazy in the summer... you can only squeeze so many loads from a C-182 -- but $$$ are my limiting factor. I usually do 2 per day, but once I did 3...
