Jessica, that is wayyyyy cool! It just goes to show that the whuffos DO try to understand (a little)! I hope your birthday was a real blast!!! Did ya get to jump?
-
Saw them this time, Mike! Looks like a hoot... thanks for sharing!
-
Bingo! Ain't it great!!! You ARE a skydiver, Michele!
-
Ya, Speedy, I know what ya mean - it took me almost 3 years and 3 months to get to #100 ... but I guess if you're having fun, than that is what counts the most! I just read on another thread that Alex makes $16/hour ... I'd never ever be able to afford even 1 jump if I was makin' that -- but then Alex doesn't have the expenses I do... Since I got my B-locence, jumps are $10 cheaper, so that goes in the "plus" column!
-
eewwwww! No, really - sounds like you're having a blast! What aircraft are ya jumping? Can't believe you haven't seen a single jumper from here! Is the weather better than last year's wind storm?
-
Pie time! I did #100 after work today -- it was a solo sit, and I learned how to do turns! Yee-Haw!!! We are having a big party at the DZ on Friday (someone's birthday), so I fully expect to get "creamed"... maybe I will post pix if there are any taken!

I can't seeee youuuuu
-
huh? Witty reply, but what the hell are you talking about...

Hey, Carrie - how ya doing these days??? Sounds like you're getting lotsa those $10 jumps in! I only got one jump this weekend - weather sucks! Maybe tomorrow after work... how did your journalism class end up? Frank

Good story! I read in the Handbook that there is a French jumper who was around 5000 jumps with no cutaway... wow! I was taught to hang on to the silver handle - expensive for a small dropzone to replace! Just learned today that a buddy of mine was hospitalized for his second time in just 38 jumps... had some malfunction, cutaway, landed HARD under the round - broke his pelvis. It was his back last time... very much of a major bummer...

Are ya taking your rig, Bossman???

Well, I did #99 today - but the weather would not cooperate for #100 -- I guess I'll have to get a pie up my face next time! So I've jumping since May '98 ... has it taken anyone else that long to get to 100 ? (I work 2 out of every 6 weekends, have 2 young kids, a mortgage, vehicle payments, etc... ya, I know "excuses excuses"...)

Marc, I think 500 jumps is recommended around here... although I know several people who fly camera with fewer jumps. BUT - in light of the recent camera flyer fatalities, I personally am in no hurry to jump camera (I was when I started off in the sport, because I am known to some as "Captain Video"). Frank

Hey, Moooose - that rocks! If the weather improves just a bit, I'll do #99 and #100 tomorrow -- not warm enough here right now to go nekkid, though... If the camera flyer can get a good enough shot of my exit, it's gonna be used in a promo for a new TV show we are doing at the station I work for! YeeHawww

Gurl, I just LOVE reading your posts! You are a great writer! Anyway, altimiters can fail, so you must "eyeball" you altitude... you'll get the hang of it as you get more jumps in your log book. Same with the fear - more jumps will do wonders! And I agree with the others who suggested knocking off more than one jump each time you get out to the DZ... that will make a big difference in your confidence and skills... Keep flyin'! Frank
