So I had an interesting night last night. Driving home from Target last night with my two boys in my truck a drunk driver promptly decided to pull out in front of me. The driver was pulling out of a biker bar that is on the way home. She didn't even stop to look both ways and just pulled onto the highway. This happens often there because the highway is not used all that often, so when you come up on the bar and you see a car near the highway you know that it may or may not stop. I was prepared. So she pulls out in front of me and continues up the highway. I am following her. She is all over the road. She hits speeds of 75 then goes down to 45 and then back up. My oldest son says, "Boy Mom, she must be drunk." I am thinking to myself , "do I make a call on my cell phone of do I just "look" the other way." Well she ends up driving like a banshee. Convertable sports car, top down. This could be really ugly...So as soon as we cross the county line I make the call. I stay on the phone with the 911 operator for a good 15 mins (we followed for about 5 miles) telling the operator what the cars is doing and not doing..she asks for the liscense plate number and I told her that I couldn't catch up with the car (not with the two boys in the car, had I been alone, MAYBE. I was doing 65 as it was on a dark road where deer like to hang out). So anyway, we reach the city limit and guess who is waiting for the drunk driver? Yep, Coppers!!! Cherries on and all. My kids were really impressed. So the 911 operator tells me to pull up behind the squad car and wait for the officer to walk back to me. My boys and I watch the events unfold. The driver or should I say, drunk BIMBO driver steps out. daisy dukes, high heels, plunging neck line and ooooh about 50 years old. YIKES!!! They make her walk the line, the whole nine yards. Well needless to say she took a ride in the back seat of the squad car and slept it off in jail. My job here is done.

Possibly a "family meeting"? You can try all you want to help but I think the best bet is to possibly listen to the advice given here, do a little research find a few different Drs and pass the info along to the closest family member, ie. the one that can "sign that person in or out of treatment". At this point, yeah trying to figure it out may help you in dealing with them and possibly understand where they are coming from, but to do anything in the real scheme of things is up to the spouse/closest loved one. I think if you feel any kind of threat from them you have all the right to distance yourself from them and the situation they bring with they visit. Don't spin your wheels too much, you have your own little circus to deal with. I don't mean that in any kind of nasty way. Dealing with kids, husband, work, house, etc is enough for you to deal with.
