You are so going down the right path. I have a vet, which a dear friend uses too, that cares for our pets like you would not believe. She is there every step of the way to counsel us as to what is right/wrong/good/bad for our pets. She has been there at "the end" too. She has helped make the decision and has given us insight as to what is best for our pet. She has shed many tears, right along with us. This as a patient/consumer/whatever has helped us immensely. It shows that she has heart and loves what she does and most of all loves our pets and sees them as we see them, as family members. "Must be a generational thing" Not so sure about that. I watched him occassionaly and my parents (76 & 81) watched him too, as well as my kids 8 & 11. He brought the outdoors, well indoors. I realized that I wanted more out of life. I had partied for about 7 years straight. I got to an age where I had thoughts of, "there has GOT to be more then this to life". I was living with a guy and he was worse then me when it came to drug abuse (I was using about 3 grams a day PLUS whatever pills I could get my hands on). I had pleaded with him to get "clean" with me and start a new life with the possibility of kids. It would never happen, so one night I decided I was going to do it by myself. I left work and didn't go home. I stayed with a friend until my friend convinced me to let my BF know where I was. I called him let him know where I was, told him I would be by in a day or so to pick up my "stuff" and continued to stay clean. I picked up my stuff from our apartment, quit my job, found a new apartment 50 miles away, left no forwarding address with my "friends" and never used again. To this day I can not walk thru a Home Depot or Lowes Garden department without smelling whatever chemical they sell there that used to be an additive that they (drug dealers) used in coke to "cut" it. Talk about flash backs! LOL! Makes me ill immediately. I have a friend that does X (recreationaly) He has tried me to "try it, its great" I can't I will never go back to that "life style". Yeah, I don't think recreational drug use lasts for very long, from what I have seen (and myself included) they end up fooling themselves with the "I can stop at anytime" line. Aaaah shit, it not meant to be impressive. Its only part of a very ugly story. I hurt alot of people and did alot of shitty things to myself too. These are the things that can make me lie awake at night and ponder the "what ifs". Thank you though, I appreciate it. Speaking from being a former addict. Its a form of escape. It is feeling so crappy on the inside that you are willing to try almost anything to feel better even if that "anything" can ruin your life. Your life is hell anyway, so really whats the risk? In the beginning the high is well just that "high" and it only takes a little to achieve that feeling and then the cycle begins, just a little more and then a little more to get to that "high" and so on. Next thing you know you would rather cook with your gas grill and have the gas turned off in the house cause,well what the hell, you have a gas grill to cook with and you can use the money to buy an eight ball.
