Limit her time time on the PC, block attachments and keep opening that door to her. Ask "?'s", don't make statements. She is at that age where it is uncool to hang with her family and her friends know everything, get to know her friends, ask them "?'s", get to know the friends parents. Make it better to hang out at home rather then somewhere else. Mull around while they are there but try not to butt into their conversations too much. Their thoughts and desires may seem lame compare to what is going on in the world today (poverty, world peace, etc), but don't discount what they are feeling and dealing with. I think what y'all have to keep in mind, when you feel "stupid" or are afraid of saying something silly, is that there are some who can put there feelings and thoughts into words like a great writer and there are others who when they post their thoughts, it comes across as jibberish and you sound like an ass. I find you either love it or hate it. Does it lead you to harder drugs? Who the hell knows...I think you have to figure out if that person has an addictive personality first. I used hard drugs for a long time and I still enjoyed pot. I have since given up the hard drugs. I have a Christmas ornament that I made in 1st grade, I remember making it and being proud of it. It is an angel with black eyes (signs of things to come?). The paint job is crappy too, but I just can't throw it away and my family cringes when i hang it. I usually hang it on the "back" of the tree so no one sees it, but I know its there and it has hung on my tree every year! I also have some ornaments from my parents tree, though quite a few have broken over the years..moving, tree falling over(yes this happens, we nailed the sucker to the floor one year!LOL!), etc. I still have one huge hand blown glass ornament, faded as it is, that is from when i was a child. I remeber this ball distinctly and it is my absolute fav. It is precious to me. My kids get an ornament or two every year (plus the ones they make at school each year), so by the time they are ready to move out of the house and get a tree of their own, they will have a great start....plus they will have memories to "hang" on their tree. I guess I need to answer my own post..... Really don't do a themed tree persay.....we tend to get cool lights though, every two or so years. Agonize about what lights to put on...not sure why that is, but we tend to put on alot of lights....this year its blue and white twinkle lights, not so cool, but it was a last minute thing. Last years lights weren't working and we didn't feel like going thru the hassle of searching high and low for the ultimate lights, we'll do that next year. Bobbi A miracle is not defined by an event. Don't focus on what is out of your control, but instead focus on what you can control. I think you also have to allow yourself, or maybe even expect, to grieve what has been lost. This may take time. I think you took the right step in opening up and talking about what happened and your feelings and fears. Some days will be better then others, when those dark days loom, push yourself to step out into the light. That will be hard, but after awhile it will become second nature and then it will become a way of life. Life as you know it will be different, accept it and embrace it.
