  1. I sat down and read through a variety of news stories this morning, local, US, International, etc. Out of 10 articles, 8 of them quoted a source who "talked in exchange for anonymity because they were not cleared to discuss the issue." They why the %#^$ are they talking about it!!! This was everything from a local cop to representatives of the CIA. What is the point of confidential information if nobody can keep their mouth shut? Anyway, I know our current state of "journalism" would be lost without people willing to open the floodgates to the first person that asks them to, but I just get frustrated wondering where the line really is. 2. Here is the song I mentioned we're using as a placeholder for a moment. Probably going to end up using it in the final version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKpRptPGtvI Killing threads since 2004.
  3. I've spent a decent bit of time in Jacksonville, and my impression was that every building came with it's own drug dealer. I'm pretty sure you'll find it listed on the welcome wagon home page. Killing threads since 2004.
  4. This is the first Christmas I'm really excited about in years. My family is all going on a cruise together and and will just be doing a small white elephant exchange with some extended family. What I'm really excited about though is that my sister has spent the last 6 months scanning photos and pulling together videos and is turning them all into a DVD w music for my parents. I just arrived in Atlanta (from Texas) last night and saw it for the first time. Still have some work to do and happy I can be of some help finally, but I venture to guess there won't be many dry eyes in the house when it is watched as a family for the first time. 5. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. A few here that I hadn't found with google searches. For the moment we've settled on Song for Dad by Keith Urban, but we're still trying to come up with a name or some lyrics for a couple songs he used to always sing us. The problem is we know he used to make up lyrics all the time because he would forget the real ones. We know the tunes, just not the actual names or lyrics! Thanks again! Killing threads since 2004.
  6. My sister is completing an AWESOME DVD of all of my family's pictures and videos from growing up. We have PERFECT songs to go along with everything except for the section on my dad. Seems like most good "dad" songs out there are about dads that left, or weren't there, etc. How about some songs about a dad that rocked the house, and made his kids who they are today? Any suggestions are helpful. Killing threads since 2004.
  7. Jello J made the comment quoted below about Lee and I think about him all the time while remembering this comment. I've quoted and paraphrased it to co-workers and friends that I feel just need to take a little more time to enjoy life. Jay about Lee: "One of the great things Lee did for me was to validate the idea that life is too short to waste time on being sensitive about stuff. That man was very good at making you look at your sensitivities and realizing that putting your emotional bank account in the red was just so much bull and a waste of time that could be better used on getting the fun out of life." 8. True enough...makes you wonder what could be done to turn that frown upside down! Killing threads since 2004.

    Single..

Tough vote. Single for some time now. Certainly don't hate it, but I sure as hell don't love it. Killing threads since 2004.
  10. My favorite iphone application of late is Pocket Universe. You can hold your phone up and scan around the sky and it shows you what constellations, planets, etc. in your field of view. You can also look at "tonight's sky" and see what should be visible. Do a "find" search and it will guide you until you are pointing in the right direction, etc. For many of the features in the sky you can link to a Wiki article on it as well. Not sure it will do you much good living in a big town with lots of light pollution, but out here in rural country it's amazing!!! Killing threads since 2004.
  11. Fucker! I was finally able to watch the episode today. Killing threads since 2004.
  12. Using Disk Utility on the Mac worked well. I'm able to open/save on both windows and Mac. One more question though. How come every harddrive I attach has less total capacity than advertised. For instance...brand new Iomega 320gb, new out of the box, shows that it has 298gb of space total. What happened to my extra 22gb? I've seen it with the two other portable drives I have too. 13. Spear 'em with a toothpick (or tiny screwdriver, awl, etc. on a multi-tool). When I used to do extended kayak trips I swear half my food weight was those little cans. I start to gag just smelling them now after eating as many as I did at one time, but as you mention they get the job done. I miss the long distance kayak trips. No better way to go long distance as it's a lot easier to pack what you need in a boat than in a backpack (as long as you don't have to do too many portages! Killing threads since 2004.
  14. ...that's gonna make it tough. Knocked out my best 4 suggestions. Just means you aren't going to win. Doesn't mean you can't post them here! Killing threads since 2004.
  15. One important thing I haven't seen questioned is what exactly does $4,000 mean to you? Does it mean that's a few thousand less in a savings account still quite large enough to be a good buffer for unexpected emergencies or does it mean you are going to have trouble making a mortgage payment or will have to put it on a credit card without the ability to pay it of quickly? 16. Am I the only one who watched that movie and laughed out loud at the scene where they're charging across the field and they do a slow-mo of him on horseback? There are a number of guffaw worthy obsurd moments in this movie, however the scene after he rescues her and is trapping water in the tree leaves for her to drink more than makes up for the rest. 17. Hehehe...to quote a friend of mine when he saw the story: ...and in similarly obvious news, fire is hot, water is wet and tater tots are delicious! Killing threads since 2004.
  18. So who is your favorite? Male or female. All about the character they play. For me one of those at the top is Julia Ormand as Guinevere in First Knight. Hardly a showstopper of a movie, but for me a heartstopper of a role for her. I haven't seen it it almost 10 years but just finished watching it and fell in love all over again. I'm not really thinking in a hot tits and ass direction, but whatever works for you. Killing threads since 2004.
  19. I sure hope you are just fucking with me and didn't really put a spoiler like that in the subject line!!! I feel like you know better than that, but dammit now I really can't wait to get to my tivo. I'm on shift for the next 48 hours though! Killing threads since 2004.
  20. Now I'll admit that I think I probably have some of the coolest parents on the planet, but I feel like having a bunch of family on facebook has only enhanced our relationship (from thousands of miles away). Now when we talk we get right into it because we both have an idea of the daily grind that has been going on via facebook updates. I have never been much of a phone talker and I never will be, so with little comments back and forth now regarding status updates or pictures, etc. we communicate on a much more frequent basis and are much more part of each others lives than we ever were with a phone call every couple of weeks. My mom logged on initially just to check it out. Friended a couple people from work and a couple good friends. She told all of us that she had an account but that she would respect our privacy and not send a friend request (but wink, wink, I would be happy to accept one). We all joined her right away and she got addicted and it's amazing the kind of people she's gotten in touch with. You can always cancel if you don't like it, so I see no reason not to give it a try. 21. Have finally had time to read a little more. Sounds like if I use mac disk utility and choose "ms-dos format" it will automatically format as Fat32 based on the size of my drive. Going to give it a go and hope it works! Killing threads since 2004.
  22. Is there a benefit to formatting it on the mac vs pc? Mac is a year old and runs great, pc is 10 or so years old and runs like a slug. Would like to do it via the mac if possible. Killing threads since 2004.
  23. The Night They Saved Christmas Everyone in my family can pretty much recite it word for word. We watched it off a taped from tv version for 20 years and about 5 years ago I found a VHS copy on Amazon and bought it. It was a poor quality tape and started to degrade quickly so my brother had it transferred to DVD! Killing threads since 2004.
  24. So it's only a file size concern and not a total drive size concern? I have a 500gb drive that I would like to use to move upwards of 400gb of pics, music, videos, etc. off of a PC and my Macbook. Do I understand correctly that if I use FAT32 I can make use of the full size of the drive as long as my files are under 4gb? Killing threads since 2004.
  25. Some college road tripping friends who usually called me J (may name is Jason) for some reason thought it was hilarious when we pulled through a FlyingJ truck stop and started calling me FlyingJ. Bought me a FlyingJ hat and everything to make it official. That was the only thing I could think of when I signed up. Lee was the only one that actually continued calling me that.
