I'm sure some plaintiffs' lawyers will disagree with that statement. I know at my age of 47 that ANYTHING is possible... But John do you think that there is going to some sort of civil action the air carrier and or the pilot/creW? As far as the few posts about our about not needing to be a glider pilot/expeirence to be able to land it, I am just referring to Sullys 15-90 SECONDS of knowing RIGHT THEN that he was not going to make it back to LAG or TET because you can see his DECISION making in the flight path... and the WAY he laid that bus on the water... I believe that is why his time in a glider is what helped him here.

I dont know how much muscle memory had to do with it. The A320 has a joystick. I think the old timer just HAS some skills and experience and a lot of luck. the reports i have heard this pm says that "Sully" (pilot) is a Glider in his offtime... Of all of the "ditchs" in commercial av history, i would like to find out the AGES of the pilot!

so glad that you put "Jinx" in the subject or I would probably never had opened this thread.... 1st of all our sport and love of SKYDIVING is not the place for wondering about any type of JINXs!!! GOOD and BAD Karma maybe, but that really has to do with how we interact with other HUMANS nots just planes and jumpers.... In other words we "reap what we sow" Are any comps that WE compete in being judged on SKILL, accuracy, "style" (no not the clothing) or are they about how clean our gear is? This isnt little league baseball where if we wash our socks before the CHAMPIONSHIP our team will lose that game.... well well well..... Here we are nearing the end of the jumping season above the 36deg parallel line? Im hardcore tho I WILL jump in the cold and snow if the DZO allows the aircraft from the confines of the warm hanger.... But anyway, I am back here in this thread to uPdate on the PD STORM that i did buy like I said I was going to. My last post was jul 3rd. I chopped my old used uP PD210 the next day on the 4th! Ordered my STORM a week or so later and recd it the day b4 I busted my right heel jumping over a car/truck racing my grandkid to the trampoline! I still WON that race by the way and was not the "rotten egg" lol!! With the few jumps on my 170 STORM that I have made in between chops and injuries (yes plural) I can absolutely without hesitation say that my STORM is the badass canopy that it was made to be. I have but one question for other PD STORM jumpers out here, demos or owned, I want to know who has noticed ANY stabilizer flapping? Both of my stabilizers flap continuously in flight and in turns of every degree. I had spoke with a PD rep about two months ago about this and we agreed that if it was possible before i send it back or think that I should, that if I could get video FIRST and send that video in versus the actual canopy, that would be a great idea, however... (this is where the {plural} comes in) I had another heel injury after recovering from the first and so my flight time has been VERY limited this season... so NO video as of yet! arghh. Anyone else noticing their stabs being loose/flapping while in the saddle? Everything else about the STORM is as perfect as a canopy can get by far and barr none!!! ...and yes this is the most interesting most informitive thread on the STORM of the three threads on dzzy dot com. I can also honestly say that at the age of 45, i have started to find my limits of FUN while on the ground! hehehe lil ;) peace blue1s and STAY healthy out there!!! :)

Why? ummmm... old habit was hard to break away from! Anywho, on my next 8 jumps I didnt rol and I really felt no difference. BROKE... THX dude! ;) Anyway folks, I sent the STORM back last week and this is the first chance at a puter in awhile! Of all of the ten jumps I made, the last seven were endcell closures. It went like this R R L L/R L R R... Now if this is from NOT rolling the nose, I do not know. I will learn more about WHY this happens. I still plan on buying a new one as my last remaining funds build.. This is an absolutely sweeeet canopy for me. I heard some talk in here awhile back about South African ZP material... Whats uP with that? Good stuff or what? Is this what PD uses or do I have a choice or what? I suppose I could call kolla about it or kim maybe... I cant seem to find that thread about it! The STORM (in my lil expierence) is the one for me! peace and happy 4th all :DD

DougH... It opens very very sweeeet! Just got my demo on friday and jumped it yesterday! I demod the SA2190 and Spec190 last season and I can honestly say that the STORM is definately an in between type canopy! I was a lil concerned with my first opening because my pc is a big one (33" standard ZPwith hacky RI) so needless to say i was ready for a slammer in the crotch, but that didnt happen, of course i was not at terminal either.... Packing has a lot to do with openings, i think we all know this by now!! I rolled the nose maybe half to one full roll but it probably came out when I layed it down tho, but anyway it opens really nice. Today I will get some more time on the STORM and will creep up my deployment speed a little bit more on each jump... The flair is also nice too! Now mind all of you that this 170 is still set at the factory brake settings so I was deep in the toggles and had a nice smooth runout. THANK YOU KimmyKim and all at the R&D team at PD!! You all have hit the target with this canopy as far as a nice allround design for weekend jumpers and perhaps the PROS!!!! YOU guys ROCKKKKKKK!!!! Overall, what I think about the STORM is this; I AM BUYING ONE

I have a "floPPy" hacky~sacky too! .... I've wondered about it also, but with about 80 pulls on it, no adverse side effects as of YET!! I will take a closer peeka boo at it!
