Maybe then I can get a few jumps in on the one day a week I have off work providing communications support to troops like you." There used to be a dropzone outside Skopje. Not sure how close to Kosovo you are, but there are a few DZs in the Balkans (6 or 7). The one outside Skopje (if its still in operation) is probably closest to you. Drive 10 minutes down the road and jump at The Farm. ASC has a bad reputation that I am sure will be elaborated on shortly (business practices, I have no idea about their safety rating)... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD... -

When are you getting into Mississippi? I live in Olive Branch (just got home from WTS in fact). PM me your number if you want to go out tomorrow (sunday the 13th), even if I dont go out tomorrow I can give you some contacts there. Also be aware that we are closed next weekend (June 19 and 20) because Mike is flying the King Air to Missouri for the Hillbilly Boogie. Lots of belly flyers at WTS so no problems for you there... Wow, you do remember. Yep black and red Sabre 1 that has since been retired due to its trying to kill me (ultra hard opening resulting in 9 broken lines with me spinning on my back). Thurs night would be awesome, I can likely do that. Unfortunately I will not be able to stay for Friday-Sunday unless something changes in the next week... Thanks J. You might (not) remember me, I bought a J4 with a Raven 210 from you at WTS about 4 years ago and had a cutaway the same day - I will be at Skyfest this year (already registered). Any chance the balloons will be flying Thurs? I would be pushing it to be there until Fri and really want to get a Balloon jump in... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD... -

Thanks Billy, we have met you probably dont remember, about 4 or so years ago at WTS (my home DZ). Not sure if I can get to Culman anytime soon as I am using most of my vacation and $$$ to go to a few days of Skyfest. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

I will be at Skyfest for a few days and wondering if any CRW coaches will be there? I have done 2 CRW jumps now and want to keep trying it - have not gotten a dock yet - I am jumping a Safire 189 loaded about 1.3 or so... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
-
Finally attempted my first CRW jump today. 3 way, I was going to dock last on the 2 stack. Problem was, I was level and closing, but a bit too high - I would have hit around the head rather than the back/leg area of the bottom jumper. When I tried to sashay a bit using rear risers the stack got too far in ront of me to catch up to without front risering - and from there it became a circular problem. Spiral, on level but too high, sashay to bleed altitude, stack gets away, repeat I am well aware it was my first attempt and more jumps will likely fix the issue but in my down time wanting some input from you guys. Info - I was jumping a Safire 189 loaded at 1.3ish, one jumper was on a Sabre 170 loaded at 1.3ish, the other was on a Spectre 190 loaded at 1.3ish. YES I am aware (and discussed at length) of the issues using microlines/9 cells/ non retractable PCS. CRW is almost never done at my DZ so I am trying to learn with what is available to me which would be mostly 9 cells with microline. At least we had one jumper that was 7 cell dacron As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

Thanks to all who have given constructive advice and not just been an asshole or tried to only insult me. For those concerned about my canopy I am interested in learning CRW and finally found a mentor (I hope) so I am going back to jumping my SaFire 189 for the next hundred jumps or more. Seriously, for those that were just insulting (you know who you are), that is a HUGE reason that virtually noone I jump with posts here. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD... -

Not to be an ass, but very few of us are good enough to handle everything when it goes to shit. Most of the incident reports I have read involve up jumpers. Yeah a few are quick progressing swoopers but most are shit happens stories like Tonto or Jerry. Please please take any canopy/WL/jump# issues to PM/email! -

I trust my S&TA, instructors etc. They have told me I will be okay with this canopy. Please take it to PMs if you want to discuss my canopy choice/WL etc. Please keep the thread on topic, which is what to do when low -

Faulknerwn, feel free to PM me about concerns you have, but to address what you posted: I am NOT scared of my canopy. I did NOT "pull high" because of canopy fear. I waved off at 3500' and pulled at 3000' or a hair below - I was saddled out at 2200' according to my Neptune. At any rate, please PM me as I am interested in learning CRW and I know you are a big time CRW dawg. I need some advice As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD... -

Yep was a belly jump. As far as my tracking, I am still learning to flat track for max seperation but I can haul ass pretty well in a track according to several friends and instructors. It was really windy (54 knots I think at 3K). I have gone low plenty, just not like today where I completely lost the group I was with. Did I f??k up by starting my track before planned breakoff, should I have just gone to the basement, what is the best course of action when that happens? What is the best thing to do when you are low?
crotalus01 replied to crotalus01's topic in Safety and Training
On a formation jump I mean. I went low on a 7 way today, low enough that I completely lost sight of the formation. I began tracking at 5K (breakoff was supposed to be 4.5), tracked until 3.5, waved off and pulled. I was saddled out at 2200 according to my Neptune. Long story short, the other 6 were pretty pissed at me because they said I deployed dirctley below the formation (2 said they passed me while still in freefall). SO, what is the best thing to do in a situation where you completely lose sight of the group you are with by going low? I could have sucked it down another 1K before deployment but I am jumping a new (to me) fairly high performance canopy and like to have a little bit of cushion if I have a funky opening or a mal. Suggestions? (Other than not going low I mean) As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD... -
Statistics aside, tell your buddies the truth - this sport is dangerous. And take my word for it, maybe 1 in 100 that says they "want to jump" ever actually does it. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

Turbo fan goggles for skydiving - silly idea?
crotalus01 replied to tumbleroll's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I wear my googles under an open face helmet. On jumprun I put my googles on, put my helmet on and then raise my googles onto my forehead until it the group before mine is getting into the door. The few seconds I have them on my eyes before I leave the plane they either do not fog at all or only a little. Freefall takes care of slight fogging. When I deploy, after my canopy is open and I have cleared traffic, my routine is: collapse slider, unstow breaks, remove googles (this time pulling them down past my chin, which allows me to flare the canopy at the same time). Other option would be spend the money on a full face helmet that has a raisable visor. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD... -
