  1. Fine, whatever.... You are as hard to impress a point upon as ever. With the new rules about attendance vs placement to advance to the finals, I don't care anymore. Do whatever you think is right and it'll all work out in the end. I can only do my personal best and at my current level, you'll have a clear advantage. I'm probably going to be one of the least experienced pilots in the region even though I've trained very hard all winter but run your 5s or 10s and do whatever you want. I'll be competing against you sooner or later. I'm not afraid of competing against anyone, I'll take something away from it every time until it's money, and even then there'll be more to learn. JUST BRING IT because I'll be ready.
  2. NO. BULLSHIT. I wanted a nine cell class so I could have competed where I was comfortable at the time. You were the one that stressed so importantly that rules couldn't be changed to allow something like that. You've proposed(with some specialized guidlines however) basically the same thing I asked for, except the class that will be introduced per your description will be for the top pilots, not the new ones. My proposal made competition a possibility for every high performance pilot that could meet the minimum quota for participation. Isn't that what the CPC was supposed to be about? Taking competitive swooping at a regional level to a more accessable arena and education about do's and dont's. This is about creating a vehicle for busy people like you, who can't or don't want to commit to becoming a pro pilot can stick around and compete on an organized circuit with all that it entails. That is not what I was asking for last season.
  3. If you're really prepared to do that, and money isn't an issue, why don't you run the qualifier course in attempt to go pro? You'd rather throw the money on entry fees/local travel(which will still add up) away completely to compete 'down' instead of stepping up? You're not really making sense to me yet. You say on one hand, "give me my pro card I'm qualified....Hand it to me, I'll gladly take it," and on the other then you want to stay on the CPC for another year. Exactly what is it you want changed and what is it you want done about it. If you spell it out, you might avoid all the flaming and criticism. Just a thought.
  4. Curious, that's all. I just wanted to see which competitors who placed in the top 10 in Denver would be returning as guests. Tyler was ranked 9th, according to the standings on cp.com. I'm just not exactly clear on the guidelines as to who has to compete as what. I also wanted to see who would just be doing it anyway, even though technically they don't have to.
  5. Just curious, will you be competing as a 'guest'?
  6. Quoted from your post to the thread on Banning the use of weights: "but im no longer going to be in the cpc. i would be sandbagging the comp." I'm a little confused about your comments in this thread; being that they lead me to believe your perspective is quite contradictory to what you've said up until now. You've earned your chance to qualify for your pro card, but for some reason you don't want to yet, ok. What bothers me about a situation like this is the point a few people raised being that you, and anyone else at your competition experience and piloting level, will be potentially taking slots away from the people that want to advance and continue who would gladly run a qualifier to go pro. I mean you already earned yours, so why not allow the people coming up to get their chance as well. You can't get picky about when and where rules need to be changed just to suit your own 'agenda'. You reminded me of this many times when I was trying to get the nine cell division started. I don't quite understand how the points system works yet, so I can't really comment as to wether or not I agree with you about what you proposed in that respect. Having more seasoned competitors in attendance would always be an asset, but for the learning experience, not direct competition. The CPC after a few seasons would turn into an arena of bad ass pilots that earned a chance to qualify out, but choose not to and stomp the new guys. Nobody expects to have their pro card handed to them, so why the sudden 180?
  7. I think you'll see this issue addressed soon. Flip through the new SIM and there's plenty of new canopy information compared to older volumes. You are defintely on the right track if you are seeking more information about canopies as it will greatly impact your learning curve. Get a copy of Brian Germain's book too, it's an excellent source of information(and if you need any clarifacation, he'll gladly assist you). Whether you've got your sights set on just being a more rounded pilot, to a world class swooper, or you're interested in CRW, arm yourself with as much information from sources like these as well as the attendance of canopy control clinics. One thing is for sure, you're going to be under a canopy at some point on every skydive. Good luck!
  8. It depends on the canopy design. Something with a steep trim and line configuration that puts you out under the nose at full flight will just get heavier as the WL goes up.(Such as the Crossfire1) Demo everything you can. You CAN swoop a 190 at your wingloading. Scott Miller can prove that.
  9. If you have a line on either of theses cameras used, let me know which you don't buy because I'll take either one. I can't find one anywhere.
  10. Demo the 103 and 96. Keep your katana if you can becuase if you miss a weekend under the velo, you will notice it.
  11. If it has the good "d" series Nikon Nikor kit lense I'll take it if he doesn't want it!
  12. I worked at a music store in Tallahassee for a few years. One of the owners did some soundtrack work for the '96 Olympics. Send me a PM if you'd like me to get you guys hooked up. He's still very active and runs a recording/production studio.
  13. No thanks. I'm more interested in learning to shoot the videos first. I've been told it's excellent experience for tandem video.
  14. I would really like to start to learn how to shoot 4 way video. Any suggestions?
