  1. Just leave Outlook open and it will do it automatically without any further configuration. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  2. First chop AND you kept the handles... job well done I would say. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  3. My "gear bag" was full of extra crap and I had so much luggage due to the duration of my trip another duffle bag was impractical (and would have been $$$ for excess baggage). I tied up the leg straps with a pull-up cord, through my hook knife in my checked baggage, and otherwise wore it like a backpack. At the security check point and when boarding and departing the aircraft I did a quick pin check to make sure nothing moved. After all, if the pins hold while getting beaten up in a funneled 6 way exit, I'm sure they will survive a ride in a nice pressurized aircraft. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  4. I just flew with my rig as a carry-on for the first time... no problems from Tucson to Phoenix to Dallas. I have all the print-outs and references from the TSA SOP on my person just in case a screener needs "refresher" training. I showed up ridiculously early for my flight as an extra precaution. Aside from some second looks and a smile or two from the flight attendants while boarding the plane no one even knew what was slung over my shoulder as I wandered through the various airports. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  5. I generally don't use a helmet unless I am doing RW. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  6. I went out with my goggles around my neck doing a feet first exit transitioning to a back fly out of a skyvan... I didn't notice until I flipped onto my belly; then calmly put them on at about 6000ft. From a zillion years of motorcycling and 170mph windblasts it didn't really seems like a big deal to me. I even wear contact lenses and had no problems. I don't think I will try and do it on purpose in the near future though. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  7. I'm really surprised that no one else on the load was smart or attentive enough to stop him from doing that. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  8. I started quite early with ~1.1:1 loading... but I am VERY current and have a lot of coaching and studying under my belt. I won't be going any higher for a while though. A man's gotta know his limitations. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  9. DOH! Now I HAVE to buy it... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

  11. Reasons I use a packer most of the time (and yes I can pro and psycho pack just fine): 1. I used to rent gear and wanted to get on as many loads as possible w/a half-day rental. 2. Lazy. 3. Because I can afford it and packers are there to make money. 4. New canopies are a pain to bag. My new-to-me Safire is really easy to bag, so I can't use that excuse anymore, esp since I put in a lot of time practicing. If there are packers available, I use them... if not, I pack my own sh1t. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  12. Ditto for the relaxing and breathing! Personally I would try and get more than one jump in per weekend if it is technically and monetarily feasible. That way, if you make a mistake, you can get right back up there and try again. Video is a great learning tool as well if available. Remember there is no such thing as a perfect jump. Good luck, welcome to the sport.
  13. Mirage G3!!! NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  14. Buy Brian's book! http://www.bigairsportz.com/publishing.php#parachute I just got my copy and it is loaded with info! NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  15. I know what you mean... I have my gear laying all over my living room, my reserve needs to be repacked, Cypres put back in rig, and new-to-me main canopy arrives via UPS any minute now!!! If the weather doesn't clear up here I am driving to Eloy and if the weather sucks there I'll just keep going all the way to Elsinore. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  16. lol, me too... for no reason in fact! NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  17. heh....me too....cool. linz me too NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  18. My $0.02 is to do whatever you are comfortable with. I stuck with the same DZ until I earned my A license and since then have been to a half-dozen or so. Each DZ will have a different "personality" (or lack thereof). Good luck! NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  19. I learned VERY quickly to "fly the openings" on the Sabre2 after getting tossed around on a couple openings. I will have to try the feet together trick next time I fly one. Thanks for the info.
  20. LOTS and LOTS of divorces NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  21. Cool, over half of my jumps are on Sabre2s of various sizes and have had a great experience with them (except for the openings ) It was more fun than a Spectre to fly but it took me about 5 jumps to get respectable landings out of them, unlike the Spectre... I'll just have to see how it compares to my "new-to-me" Safire this weekend.
  22. 1) what made you start jumping / how you became interested? A friend of mine in the Army used to tell me about his skydiving exploits. That and my bro and his wife started jumping too. 2) How long have you been jumping? How many jumps do you have? First tandem 18 Jul 04... 53 jumps total 3)What method of training did you do? ASP, a structured 25 jump program, 2 tandems, 7 AFF, 3 solos, 12 coach jumps, A license solo. 4) how has skydiving changed you life? I don't really think it "changed" my life. It is just something I enjoy. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  23. Do a search... there have been a bunch of threads on this recently.
  24. I had dinner with a fellow consultant at Morton's in Phoenix and racked up a $167.00 dinner bill for the two of us, and that was before the tip. Basically just a couple of drinks, appetizer, steak, sides, and a half-bottle of wine. It was one of the best cuts of Filet Mignon I ever had... but I am really glad that I didn't have to pay for it.
