right now seems like a perfect time to get shitfaced... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

Go easy with the "mandatory" there... I know plenty of people that did 0 tandems before AFF and a lot of static line grads as well. Just because that method worked best for you, doesn't mean everyone needs to do it the same way. I did 2 tandems myself before ASP (an AFF variant) but that doesn't mean I think everyone should shell out $300+ for the same experience before moving on to AFF or its many spinoffs. Next thing you know, people will be saying tunnel time should be required before AFF. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

~10 seconds for the first 1000ft and ~5.5 seconds for each subsequent 1000ft... so ~30 seconds until the planet runs you over, give or take a couple seconds. So a "B" level of experience jumper should be waving off about 15 seconds after departing the helo. Sound good? NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

My 1st jump with pictures at SkyDiveMiami.
mattjw916 replied to JeepDiver's topic in Introductions and Greets
I was concerned about flying the landing pattern properly for my first AFF jump as well but the instructor for my second tandem (tandemphil) explained it very clearly while we were under canopy. It is easier than it seems. As for stability for your first AFF jump, there will be two AFF instructors holding on to you. Just pay attention to their hand signals, remain calm, take your time and execute the required elements. And don't forget to pull. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080 -
I know plenty of people that don't use an AAD, and I don't consider any of them "dumb". It is a personal choice as to whether to jump with one or not... a choice that everyone should make for themselves upon careful consideration. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

I think "used to be" are the operative words here. There has been remarkable progress in IT since then I assure you. It's all in good fun. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

howto explain to friend that (s)he is dangerous?
mattjw916 replied to gravityizsexy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Uh, no students should be jumping with each other anyway!!! If you don't have an "A" license you can only jump with an instructor/coach present anyway. You, and presumably your friends, have quite a few more jumps to go before you can "legally" jump together anyway. Read section 2-1 of the SIM if you don't want to take my word for it. Novell?!! I think you identified the problem already... Let me be the first to encourage you to join us all in the 21st century and ditch the Novell servers. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

I won't flame, but I'll comment since I am a lowtimer. While I personally don't care if there is a 30 day suspension for a Cypres fire, I really don't see it accomplishing much. Perris' rule seems to leave a bit too much room for interpretation or opinion though. But that could be by design, so that is fine. What does concern me, is that if an individual or group of individuals is distracted or inattentive to such an extent as to "forget" to pull, what other safety issues are they also neglecting?!! Perhaps that, in and of itself, is just as good a reason for a suspension. Or maybe it is all just a big plot to get people to buy tunnel time since they won't be able to jump. The rule is fine IMHO, since I really don't see it ever applying to me... knock on wood. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

Maybe with the proper motivation I might be persuaded... as long as I don't have to do the dishes afterward. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

That's strange... because all the girls I have met recently seem to be of that mindset. They just want a few free drinks, bedroom calesthenics, and then depart. It's been a while since I met a woman that was looking for a relationship, probably due to my proximity to a local state university. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
