CPC CHAMPIONSHIPS updates...
bob.dino replied to CanopyPiloting's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Why not here? -
HDV is MPEG2 at 19Mbps (720p) or 25Mbps (1080i). Bitrates are video only. AVCHD is MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 at "up to 18Mbps". The difference between 18Mbps and 25Mbps really isn't all that much. I don't know enough to comment.

She's in SA. There's quite a few decent SA skydivers around (National champs are turning about a 16 avg), and I'm sure some of those in SA at the moment would be happy to help out.

What country are you in? (hint: fill out your profile for more accurate answers in general) The rules differ by country.
-
Remember that bigway mainly jumps in the UK, where things are rather more regulated.
-
Isn't the whole idea that AVCHD will replace HDV? I haven't done a huge amount of research into the different encoding algorithms, but I'd be genuinely surprised if you couldn't get AVCHD to look as good as HDV.

Complete your student training before you buy gear. Then you'll have an idea of what kind of gear you need.

If you can download it, but it won't play, get VLC. It'll play pretty much anything.

Apropos of nothing, Aussies don't know what shrimp is. Their term is prawns. And they eat a hell of a fucking lot of them. Indeed it is

Does the USA have an equivalent of the UK's Advertising Standards Authority or Trading Standards? These are the bodies that regulate advertising and business conduct, and they're also the people you go to when you believe a business is lying to potential customers.

Now available from the official plugin website. Enjoy.

I've no idea as to whether you're arrogant or not, but your flying skills and time in sport have no bearing on it.

Do you know if Panasonic will be releasing an AVCHD camcorder before the end of 2006? Flash/HDD/DVD?

Hey AUSSIES, who's the best for mobile phone service these days?

I've just chucked my K750i due to repeated persistent failures of the joystick (lovely phone otherwise). I am not buying another SE phone without an Australian warranty. -
Was: Recommended specs on reserve exit weight, do you go over max?

Jumping canopies that are seriously out of trim can result in funky openings. Why not get the canopies relined if they're out of trim? As to the pilot chute question, I'm afraid I don't have enough knowledge to comment. -
Yeah, but since the answer was given in post #2, we've gotta amuse ourselves somehow .

How much better does it get after AFF?
bob.dino replied to AEsco48's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Seconded. The person offering has a fairly decent idea of your skill level. They wouldn't be offering if they weren't going to have fun too... -
I'll bet that with a little searching you could find an old d-bag and pilot chute someone would be willing to donate for the cause of science. The pilot chute needs to be attached to the d-bag, but the d-bag doesn't need to be attached to the canopy. You just have to be okay with losing if not exactly a freebag, at least no more than a cheapbag. Y'know, I didn't even consider that approach. Thanks for the suggestion.

Club Chief Instructor. As I understand the structure of UK parachuting, they're pretty much the last word on what happens at the DZ they're in charge of.

...because most non-packing 100-ish jump folk know how to sew bridle attachment points to canopies .

PD have a Reserve Demo Program.
