A Safire 2/229? Oh, don't bother with a Front Riser Turn
bob.dino replied to ntrprnr's topic in Gear and Rigging
Collapse the slider, and bring it down behind your head. Loosen your cheststrap. Initiate from brakes. The difference will be remarkable. -
This is worth repeating. Without the slider pulled down and the chest-strap loosened, harness input will have little effect.

Do you have a large version of "Mike Vaughan by Kuri"? It doesn't really look like him, and that's definitely not his JVX...

I'd like to read that research. If you find it, could you PM it to me? I'm not sure I fully follow your point. Are you suggesting that people don't ever change? Or that they just discover what's inside themselves already?

Childhood toys you want your kids to play with?
bob.dino replied to windcatcher's topic in The Bonfire
Yup. Read with your kid from a very early age. Help give them an open, curious mind, and you'll have done well. -
Define reality.

Southern Hemisphere - NZ or Australia.

Because it's challenging. Because the scenery is good. Because of the people.

So, what you're saying is that 1.5 - 2 years of skydiving have no effect on who you are once that initial infatuation wears off?

Do you wear your wedding ring when you jump?

The velcro holding on your wrist alti will give way some time before your arm does. A metal band around a finger will give way some time after the flesh on your finger. -
Kim Dear's Birthday Tandem student from Quantum Leap
bob.dino replied to joewantaharley's topic in The Bonfire
Happy Birthday Kim! If you fancy another jump in Australia, I'll cover the cost, or if Bigun insists on paying, I'll shout one for your Dad. -
The Formation Skydiving & Artistics meet is in Gera, Germany. The CRW and S&A meet is in Stupino, Russia and is being run as part of the Malevsky Cup - a link for which is in this thread too.

I'm not a Mac person, so I can't give you a definitive answer. However, the Crucial site will! When you're looking at the memory for your particular G4, scroll down to the bottom of the page. There's a 3-step guide. Step 2 tells you the info you need to know... if your G4 is in banks of 1, you can just buy additional sticks as you like. If it's in banks of 2, each pair needs to match, but the pairs can differ. So, for example, you could buy 2x 512MB and end up with 2x512 + 2x256= 1512MB. Or you could throw out the 256MB sticks, and replace them with 4x512MB, giving you 2GB.

Where did you place the excess? In the tray? Did you rotate the bag so the grommets faced the BOC? If so, did this create any issues with moving the lines around?

For good memory go to someone like http://www.crucial.com/uk. Apple will charge you an arm and a leg for exactly the same part.

Re: [beezyshaw] Fatality - 30 july 2006 - Romania
bob.dino replied to bob.dino's topic in Gear and Rigging
A Cypres is designed to fire at ~750ft, if you're stable on your belly. When stable on your belly there's an area of low pressure around your main container (the burble). If you're vertical, there's no low pressure area there and a Cypres can fire as high as 1000ft. So, if your snivelling main stands you up but doesn't slow you down below 78mph at 1000ft, you're likely to have a Cypres fire. -
It's almost time....World Meet 2006, who's it gonna be?
bob.dino replied to GQ_jumper's topic in Relative Work
Unfortunately, no they don't . Rain stopped play. Some Aussie links: 8-way team Deton8. 4-way team Airtite, and pics. -
Google Earth Drop Zone Project -- Ideas and Discussion
bob.dino replied to quade's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Lots of Aussie dropzones. Note: you will have to create an account to access this thread. -
Bill von Novak has built a mount with a Sony DSC-V1 and a remote. Note that he says the camera can only handle about 1 shot/sec.

Could you clarify that please? Are you saying that students got put out before freefliers? Most of the time (jumprun into wind, winds at opening and height same direction) that's correct.

There's lots of good pizza available in Sydney, but since I don't order deep-dish, I can't help you on where does good stuff.

There's an advanced class at the World Meet now? What will they think of next -
Are you aware that that doesn't contain a recording device? You need to plug it into a unit such as those mentioned by Dan, or into a camcorder.
