  1. The same counts for Icarus. Their reserve need to be re certified after 40 repacks as well. I don't know if they will keep this requirement for the Nano as well, but I will not be surprised if they do. 2. But you do need to hold a rigger's certificate or be under the direct supervision of one to sew the patches. So with that said, someone's rigger certificate should be in play here. MEL You are just assuming that he is the one doing the job. It could be that he buy and resell those canopies . Now is the time that somebody will tell you that since this is a main canopy and it's not TSO'd ,anybody can do whatever they want with it and we gonna end up with another thread "who can do what with the gear" "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  3. Just because he is selling gear that doesn't mean that he is a rigger. "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  4. No it doesn't. It looks like an Icon that has too much bulk in the ears, which can cause the riser covers to not want to stay closed. It's more like a Quest from Atmogear, but you are right about the bulk in the ears
  5. I don't know how they did it, but non of the rigs were set for left handed deployment. The red handle is the cutaway handle, not a soft reserve one. "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  6. You'll get 12 opinions from 10 riggers on this
  7. That's fine. I teach people to read, understand, follow the manual and use their common sense. And you are right. Using PdF method on Aerodyne soft links will be an unacceptable unsafe practice, because there's a big difference between those two. This is exactly my point. You won't know it unless you work with them. What's common between Aerodyne's, Precision's and PdF's soft links? They are all made from Spectra line and a metal ring. What's the difference? They all have different mounting instruction. If you mismatch the links and their instructions, you/ your costumer might be in trouble. I believe that this is what exactly happened to the rigger whose work made the OP start this thread. Just for the record. I don't like PdF soft links. Not at all. They are pain in the butt to connect and disconnect. But to be honest, PdF was the first company to make reusable soft links. They set the standard. ( somebody must correct me if I'm wrong) There are millions of jumps on those links over the last 15 maybe 20 years without problems, and that makes them "industries approved"! 8. PdF soft links can be used only on type 17 risers on a main with micro lines. They can't be used on reserves. One, because they are not certified and two, because they are really short. You won't be able to route them around type 7,8 or 13 risers. Send me your postal address on PM and I'll send you an old soft link to play with
  9. Yes! That's the way it should be. When you assemble/disassemble PdF soft links once, you'll see that this is impossible to happen by itself. The loop is too tight and you really have to force it over the ring. Not only that, but the soft link is short enough so the ring can't move freely. 10. If you have ever tried to undo PdF soft links, you will know that accidental release it's not possible. Not to mention that they are designed to work without lark's knot, so the rigger has one less chance to fuck up! And as you can see from this thread... riggers DO fuck up! I wouldn't use them on my canopy either because of few other reasons, but accidental release is not one of them! But let's not hijack the thread. The thread is about the great job the OP did by spotting those misrouted reserve soft links
  11. I like my Sabre 2. I didn't like the Pilot at all. As for the Sabre 2 inconsistent openings... the attached is a video from my openings from the last weekend.... ...I don't use packers
  12. Maybe because they use snap buttons? "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  13. I said that. Not Paul. I guess, you were not in the same room with me and about 70 other folks during the PIA symposium when Candie Procos from Vigil USA made that statement?! And there's really no place for name calling here. I hope you gonna learn this when you grow up. P.S. I didn't post any flier ,because I don't have one. Do your own research! "This statement is partially incorrect. I'll explain why. Apparently they have changed that function on the Vigil. The new Vigils ( from # 26172 ) WILL shut down after 14h even in flight, but don't bother reading the manual. It's not there. The info is on the flier they will put in the box with the new unit. When I asked why, not in the manual, they said that the change is not significant to change the whole manual. " ONCE AGAIN WE HAVE PEOPLE THAT SPREAD MISINFORMATION,... tHIS INFO IS NOT IN THE BOX WITH NEW UNITS,...NOR HAVE YOU CORRECTLY QUOTED THE VIGIL FOLKS... MY POINT IS THIS: THERE ARE THOSE OF US THAT EXPECT CRITICAL INFORMATION TO ACCOMPANY THE THINGS WE PURCHASE AND THEN THERE ARE THOSE OF YO THAT SPREAD MISINFORMATION! Sorry for digging out an old thread, but my buddy ChrisD should see this. ChrisD, are you there buddy? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4499749;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread The name calling was for nothing. There was a change in the function by the time of my first post, and now it is a SB. Is there something you want to say? If you do, please do it with the caps lock off! 15. Congratulations! You're an idiot that ran the gauntlet and survived...so far. Say a prayer those that didn't. Pops - maybe it's just me but I interpreted Sparkie's post as sarcasm. If it wasn't then you are right on! Thanks, I didn't think of that. If it was sarcasm I will apologize sincerely to Sparkie and everyone for the misinterpretation. Yeah, Sparkie is a funny guy and sometimes his level of sarcasm in quite high "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen

  17. What EU mfgrs?! On a more serious note, I'm not aware of any of them using it! "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  18. Thanks for that I thought about it, but as I said maybe somebody know a place in EU that I can use in the future. Shipping stuff overseas is a pain in the ... "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  19. Para-Gear doesn't have it and all other places I know don't sell less than 5 yards... but I need 2. I rather buy it from somewhere in EU, but if you guys know a place in the US, it's also good! Thanks "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
