  1. Certified by whom for what? Just curious.
  2. they use ProTecs for rentals if I am not mistaken. Yeah, but a Pro-tec is not a skydiving helmet. It's an actual protective helmet that was appropriated for the sport. It's also the only helmet in the sport that's certified. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  3. Yesterday, I would have agreed. Today though, I would disagree. I went for my first flight today, on a Prodigy. I missed the loop the wing attachment strap goes through when I suited. Everything went fine until ~7 grand when I lost my left wing. I immediately entered a suprisingly quick spin, had to diagnose the problem, free the other wing and then regain stability. 200 doesn't seem so bad to me, since it should give you more experience with dealing with fast-happening, high-stress situations. -Blind [edited for spelling] "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  4. I'm sitting in the monkey mansion, waiting for my ffc tomorrow. We are not sucking in Z-hills!!! -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  5. Well, they've got the original voice actors doing the voices of Optimus and Galvatron, so Bey could do his worst and it still turn out ok. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  6. Me and Skyeyes will go -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  7. Not feeling the luv, where's the Prodigy? -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  8. I've got an old RW suit that my gut outgrew. I was going to sell it when I noticed the other day that the zipper was busted. I was just going to replace it when it occured to me that a little extra fabric on my arms and legs would be good during hybrids. I had to open the center seam up to just about the crotch to replace the zipper, so I was wondering if there would be any problems (other than looking bad) with just installing a center panel to widen the suit and then installing the zipper on that? I've put the suit on, and I still have good ranage of motion in the shoulders, arms and legs, my gut just sticks out of it.
  9. Damn, that means that I'm going to have to get a job quick! -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  10. I clicked on that. It says they have 4 suits, but then only names the other three, and gives information and prices for those 3. I can't find anything about the single layer aside from the photo that shows it and says it exists. http://www.tonysuits.com/Wing%20Suits%20Intro.php4 The price ($400) is mentioned in the bottom black test box, near the end of it. 11. Anybody have any experience with these? -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  12. Ordered my Prodigy the last week of Oct, and it's supposed to be here by next week. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  13. Any of these big guys fly Prodigy's? I ordered one since I've got low #'s and it was recommended for beginners. I'm beginning to worry that the small wing might not be big enough for my fat ass. (6'0, 300 lbs) -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  14. Just curious. I currently fly a big camera-style wing and have found that if I step off backwards from the step, I'm relatively stable but have no real ability to turn left until I'm off the hill. OTOH, if I dive towards the tail from the step, I feel totally in control and get this nifty feeling like I'm riding a toboggan down the hill head first. Was wondering if that will roughly hold true with a wingsuit or if the tail wing will dramatically change it up. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  15. Bridle is standard legnth (7 ft? gear's at DZ, I'm not) and the PC's 30 inches. I said "obviously" because I was told by a Master Rigger that it was an option that was not retrofittable. Please tell me more. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  16. I'm just counting down the days until my Prodigy gets here, and I'm trying to get all the details knocked out. I was reading the owners manual where it talked about the longer bridle, dynamic corners, and d-bag orientation. Obviously I can't do much about my rig's corners but I was curious about the other stuff. The manual was kind of ambivalent, so I was wanting to get opinions from here. My current setup is configured so that I can comfortably deploy at speeds around 160 mph. It consists of a Mirage RTS(over-engineered G3) with type 8 risers, an over-sized cazer F1-11 kill-line pc, tandem slinks and a 270 sf Safire II with an over-sized slider and custom extra-heavy duty(beyond what would go on a tandem) vectran lineset. I currently pack the rig with the grommet towards the bottom of the container. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  17. An M8 will hold a freepacked MT-1X(370 sf) if you put the last bit of fabric up beside the risers. It will also hold a wet MT-1X, but it looks like a total CReW packjob with all kinds of fabric hanging out. That was with a mesh slider, the standard MT-1X slider has some absolutely massive steel grommets which might change things. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  18. I thought the really funny part was that the judge hearing the FAA case, counted his attempt to BASE the WTC as one of the reasons to consider him mentally unfit. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  19. I don't jump for the rush, I jump for the challenge of achieving things I didn't think were personally possible. As long as BASE and skydiving keep offering me ways to challenge myself, I will be doing both. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

  21. That's weird, I was on what I thought was the L&B Accessories page right before I posted this and all it had was the Protektor and the Patches. And thanks for the links, ebcause the LCD is really more what I'm looking for. Does anyone here has experience with it? -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  22. Anyone know anything about it? Is the LED accessory a proprietary thing or will any off the market do? Also, does it work with all the various warnings or just the three atitude alarms? -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  23. If you heard him referred to as Sofa King, that was him. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  24. He died on his mom's weekend so I don't know can't say with 100% certainty, but I think it was a Costco Scenera. I'm about 95% certain she was using a seatbelt instead of LATCH. The seat was front facing, and he weighed ~29-30 lbs. The car was a 2000 Chevy Impala 4-door. he was seated on the passenger side of the rear seat. The car was struck from behind by a Tarus at an estimated overtake speed of 40 mph. The Impala series is rated as poor for rear collisions. To be fair, the institute that does these test test at a lower speed than 40 mph, so there is the possibility a car with a "superior" rating might have had a similar outcome. I know a very good engineering firm that specializes in acident analysis, so the car will be checked to see if it was a case of poor design or simply too much force. Unfortuantely, the county has been proceeding very slowly with the criminal investigation so the car hasn't been released yet. The DA's office tells me that they'll make a decision next week so I hope to have the engineers begin their work by the end of next week. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  25. Arrrgh, too late, I've already ordered it. Maybe when I'm ready to move up to a Phantom, I can go all pink! -MaxGrav "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
