Houston Peeps, Looking for a texan with a truck
BlindBrick replied to BlindBrick's topic in The Bonfire
We're coming down to Skyfest and would like to rent a trailer and place it at the dz. Unfortunately my towing rig just broke so I have nothing to pull a trailer with. Right now I'm considering renting a trailer in Houston and figuring out a way to get it to the dz at Rosharon. I was wondering if any of you texas jumpers might be interested in the job. I'd be willing to pay fuel plus some more to compensate you for your time. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." -

It's also no longer the standard for discussing what we are talking about. They've been officially referred to as STI's for about 5 years now. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Nah, more like an A-10. I'm slow and butt ugly, but I'm also tough as hell and get the job done. And for all the boys and girls reading, Tony personally went in to the shop on a Sunday so as to ship me my Mach One just three days after I ordered it. He is da man! -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Just wanted to post a pic of my new Mach One, or as some of my friends are calling it my new Anvil One. Just going out on a limb here, but since I'm 5'11 and 320 lbs, I'm guessing it's the largest that Tony's ever made. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Wow, what was the lead time on that? Scott C. Tony got my Mach 1 done in 3 days. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

I didn't realize it, but I lucked into to ordering late enough to get one of the new Mach Ones. The airlocks are slick and believe it or not, the new M1's are easier to gear up in than a Prodigy. I've only got to jump it once today, but the inflation on the wings is near instant and noticeable. However, finding my hackey was way easier than I had worried about (comparable to finding it on my Prodigy). And Oh My God, does that thing haul ass. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

No need, law enforcement where we are moving is seriously old school style. The deputys where I live are either my family or very close friends, and the sheriff owes me favors.

She did great. It was a tough and long (16 hours) labor because her water broke before she was even a full cm dialated, but despite all the Potosin they pumped n her, she only had two mild does of IV pain killers. And when it came time to push that beautiful, but broad-shouldered and 14 inch headed, girl, she only grunted with effort, never once screaming in pain. Even if I was a girl, I know I couldn't have done half that good. I'm very proud of her. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Skyeyes and I are proud to announce the birth of Skyeyes' first child (and my first daughter), Aurora Gale Mc Crary. Aurora was born at 1:29 pm CST on Friday the 29th. She's 19 inches tall and weighs 8 lbs 10.8 ounces. Both her and mom are doing great and will be home in a few days. She has alreay shown a natural inclination to arch which we figure bodes well for the possibility of her being a future skychick. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Man, all we need now is for someone to pop off about how Vin could kick Chuck's ass and dz.com would have it's own version of Barrens Chat. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Sad thing is that I've done a few of them and actually a lot of the ones he does would have actually been a step up. It was all part of my parent's master plan. Nothing motivates you to go to, and finsih college, like walking out of a factory, after a 16 hour shift, covered in chicken blood with your knuckles swollen up bigger than golfballs. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Getting the most out of a Wintec WBT-201
BlindBrick replied to BlindBrick's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I've had a bit to play with my 201 and based on that experience, I can not endorse Klauss' Paralog software enough. It is the shit. Using the 201 with it was effortless. If it wasn't for TimeMachineX's ability to alter the settings of the 201, I'd say junk it and just go with Paralog. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." -
Pretty much. I'm 5'11 and 320 lbs. I'm big enough that I get a pretty hefty horizontal speed, and my canopy doesn't do well at all when opening with significant horizontal speed. Experience has taught me that I have to shutdown my wings and be in regular freefall for 4-5 seconds before I pitch. 1 g is 21.9 mph/s, call it 20 mph/s to account for drag. That's 80 mph of accel in 4 seconds so with a deployment speed of 145, that suggests a descent rate of around 70 mph in full flight. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
-
No, it's mph. 150 and below is not as bad as most jumpers think because my gears been modded for it (typically I'm deploying at ~145 at the end of a WS jump), but it starts getting uncomfortable past 160, Anything past 180's is well beyond BASE opening painful. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
-
It was but still came loose. I've got enough space on the end of the strap that I'm thinking about adding a third snap. The point on the plot where it came undone is the hard turn shortly after leaving the plane. The "S" curve pattern after it is me trying to keep it under control until I could get low enough to deploy safely (was at a boogie). I didn't just pop the other wing and enter regular freefall because I have made promises to people to stop deploying at speeds in excess of 150. If I'd let my self go terminal without my arm wings, I'd have been in the neighborhood of 175-180 at pull time. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Here's a track of a mal sometimes seen in Prodigys that I've been told only happens when the suit is improperly rigged or during extreme/rough handling in flight. I had a nice unhurried suit up, I checked the rigging and then had another jumper verify the rigging was correct. This was a fairly low key, non-strenous solo jump, and the mal occurred in normal straight flight. In the attached pic, white line's jump run, red line is freefall and the maroon line is canopy flight. Anyone care to guess what the mal was? -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Getting the most out of a Wintec WBT-201
BlindBrick replied to BlindBrick's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Just got in a 201 as my first GPS. I've got it and a Palm Tungsten E2 running Paralog. The documentation with both the 201 and Paralog C are less than stellar, so I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers for getting the most out of my gear? I've managed to add the 201 to my E2's bluetooth trusted list, but since the 201's bluetooth manual is written for the Window Mobile OS, I'm pretty clueless after that. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." -
Yeah, I'm talking about the Hillbillie Boogie. I'll be there Friday and part of Saturday. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

We're going to have Mullins at a local boogie next weekend and he'll be offering the 23K jumps. Just wondering if there were any issues with taking a wingsuit out on one of those? When going for horzontal speed, I have a high enough vertical descent that I'm not really worried about hypoxia, but I wasn't sure whether the thinner air could create stability or recovery issues. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Skyfest Wingsuit Count ??? Jul 11 - 16th
BlindBrick replied to ScottGray's topic in Wing Suit Flying
It depends on when my wife has her baby. She's supposed to pop on July 2nd, but if she goes a week or two early I'll be there. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." -
Yeah, I'm going to tie a Win-tec WBT 201 into a Palm Tungsten E2. The inital plan is to code up a simple program that will strip some basic data from the 201's output and formulate it into a simple compass/speed/altitude display to pipe to the LCD. This is assuming that I can extract data from the 201 in real time. If not, then I'm going to play around with some GPS receiver modules to rig up what I need. Ideally, I can get it all working and fitted into a small, clean box that bolts where a camera mount would go on my RatHat. My preference is to make the lcd wireless so that if it should get caught on a riser or something, it's not phsyically connected to my helmet by anything but some plastic screws. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

A LCD microdisplay that serves as the heads up display for a wingsuit avionics suite. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

I'm looking for a bare bones bluetooth module for use in a wireless H.U.D. I'm trying to rig up. Can anyone recommend a solid, decently-priced component and where to get it? -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
