  1. Yep, I see what you mean. After about 5 beers myself, I started leaning to the left and it sure does look like a pint of the good stuff! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  2. I swear it looks like they're diving next to a coffee cup. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  3. As you can see by the responses, it has pros and cons. Educationally speaking, if you have a BA in business, you practically/already have an MBA. Most MBA programs are basically the 3 and 4 year classes of your BA with a couple of electives exclusively for MBA students thrown in. For example, the class name might be Management 5505 but the material covered is basically the same as Management 4505. About 40% of my MBA classes were shared with undergrads. Employment wise, the MBA helps. No doubt about that. If I recall correctly, the MBA was orginally created for people who did not have a BA in business. For example, an engineer now managing big projects. One suggestion, do a double major. Select the MBA program and another Masters business degree program that has a lot of overlap. That would really help and the workload is less with the overlap. Good luck! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

  7. Contacting the USPA would be the first place to check. If you strike out there, try calling a few of the DZOs in Utah and ask them if they know of any oldtimers from that era that are still around. Good luck! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  8. Yep. For civilians, a helicopter is almost never a money making aircraft. From the replies made, you can see us ex-military guys had it sweet! I did my all my static lines and first freefall out of a CH47 Chinook. In my military time, that I can remember, I jumped Hueys, Blackhawks, Chinooks and Skycranes (from the Box
  9. He probably went into s slow left turn at exit and felt quite comfortable with it! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  10. This particular a/c had it's 50th birthday in 1985 so retiring to greener pastures or bluer skies is not inappropriate. ------------------------------------------------------- That triggers a memory. I had the honor of jumping into the 1985 celebration of the DC-3's 50th anniversiary at Santa Monica airport in California as part of the 82nd Airbrone demo team.
  11. Yep. Got one in my giant logbook bag. ... actually, two of them. One 'large' and one 'small.' I started with the big one and eventually the formations got too big. So I 'upgraded' to the small one! Haven't used them in years. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  12. Yep, 500 of them start with, "This is no shit, but me and a buddy..." ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  13. Kinda reminds me of military skydivers (not the monkey part!) Back in the 80's, 80% were infantry and aviation. The guys that did military jumps and the guys that flew them all got together on the weekends to skydivie and figure out crazy shit! Probably holds true today. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

  15. I remember that one, too. Don't have a copy though. You don't know he's talking to his dog until the last frame.
  16. Good to hear Tom is still alive and kicking. Yep, that was the place. Nice little gathaus on site where you could sit and watch the jumpers land in front of you. I don't recall if the plane was a 206. But, definitely a Cessna and roomy if I recall correctly. The golf course was actually hard to distinguish from the ground (or air for that matter), maybe it was closed. Herzo Base was just a small logistics base for the 1st AD back in the woods. The course was mostly flat brown grass with no sand traps or even flags on the greens that I ever saw. I never played it myself. The owner at the time I was there was a guy named Walter. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  17. ------------------------------------------------- I don't know about who, where or when, but "what" happened next was probably an exciting funnel! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  18. ...And would also go to German DZS.Haasfurt.Spichersdorf. Do not remember the other one. ---------------------------------------------------- Was the other one Herzoanaurach (sp?) ? A german private airport next to the us military golf course? ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  19. Both of these posts triggered a few memories. I showed up in Ansbach/Katterbach Army Airfield in '85. The 1st ADs AH-1S Cobras were divided between Katterbach and Illesheim. I was a tech inspector and used to drive back and forth all the time. No more jumping in Illesheim or Bamberg by then. Tom Shafer did put me on a demo he organized for a July 4th jump in Katterbach into the housing area. We did two practice jumps and then got rained out for the demo next to the airfield. The only jumps I made in Katterbach while working there for almost 5 years. As for the Bamberg club, sometime in 87~88 or so me, Jeff Hawk and Randy Gilliard heard that the MWR (morale, welfare and recreation) office had a room full of surplus stuff from the old Bamberg club. We drove Randy's pickup to Bamberg and bought everything for $70. Mostly old rounds, slick suits, a couple of altimeters, misc. stuff and one mint condition Unit 1. Don't remember much else except that it filled the back of a toyota pickup. We used one of the rounds for unit picknics for a while. A fun day! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

  21. For those americans who protest that they find the rules of rugby and soccer incomprehensible, think of how the NFL looks to the rest of the world. --------------------------------------------------------- Amen Bro!! Real football is played in High Schools and small colleges across the U.S. Go see a Friday night High School game and relearn what football is all about! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  22. I like them both. Anyone who thinks American football is pussified because they wear pads has obviously never played it in full pads before. Until the 50s, there were few helmets with face masks or plastic; just leather. There are hits in football you couldn't give or receive without pads that you can't do in rugby without injuring yourself or the recepient. Rugby is nonstop action and I love that about it. It's fun and brutal as well in its own way! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  23. I'm not quite sure when the 7th Army Team died out do to lack of funding. Sometime in the 80's I think. After the '84? crash of the Hanau parachute club in a CH-47 that impacted the autobahn killing 20+, the Army started pulling funding for the European army clubs over the next few years. I arrived in Germany at the end of '85 and all the clubs were defunct or in the process thereof except the Green Beret club. In '86 (or maybe early '87), I got a call from a guy looking for qualified people to jump into the French Army sponsored marathon at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Stadium. Jump went okay. As far as I know, this was the last time anyone called the 7th Army team made a jump in Germany. Anybody got any more info on the club's demise? ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  24. --------------------------------------------------- I remember that news video. 5 cell on top and the three stack went rocking out of control. Cut away on the bottom and delayed too long. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  25. Holy Shit!! 102 - 10 man teams registered!! That has got to be a record for any skydiving competition. Does anyone know of anything bigger? ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
