  1. Fly high George. He sounds like a man that needs some stories of his exploits to be shared. Anyone that knew him, please share! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  2. Congrats you old geezer! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  3. Skydive Houston in '98 on the unpacked main of student rig #9 in the middle of the night. I always giggled everytime I saw someone wearing it!! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  4. Extra Bonus on Stupid things for you. In '84, Davce Varella (SSG 82nd Team), took me under his wing one weekend. It happened to be about 2 weeks after I was allowed to jump 82nd Team rigs (RTS with Titans). We went over to the SF DZ (Normandy?) and manifested for a load. Exited and smoked it low over the packing area. Opened about 1200'. Dave had said, "Follow me into the landing area." Like a dumb shit, I did. He landed in the middle of the packing mats and I followed him in. A Gruff looking SGM type accosted us and demanded a case of beer for each of us!! Fucking Dave had no money and I (PFC) paid the $20!! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  5. Oh Yea, Chuckles. You set yourself up for this one!! SF MFFJM - Special Forces Muther Fuckin Freefallin Jump Monkey
  6. My thoughts were like this: 2. At a lower alt, like 15-20k MSL, I would be left with plenty of time to contemplate my fate, and skydiving would give me a huge advantage compared to the rest of the passengers now hurtling toward the ground. I could try to do some RW with one of them, or just enjoy the last moments of my life. I might be screaming in, but not kicking. Spews beer into monitor because of gut wrenching laugh of understanding I can just imagine you swooping the hottest passenger you can find that isn't spinning too radically. Give her a kiss pass and yell in her ear, "It's OK!! I'm the Captain and I have everything under control!" ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  7. 1987 was somewhere between 1.5 and 2 million jumps in the US alone with 27 fatalities. I did a paper on human error in sport parachuting for a graduate class back then. The fatality number is correct but I can't remember the exact number of jumps. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

  9. Yep, it does make us a little nervous over here. I've lived here for 7 years and have various in-laws in the Korean military. We'll see.... ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  10. I'm skeptical. To a true Southerner, I thought "pop" and "soda" were technically "Coke." Pop is what I heard up north central. Down south we ask, "Do you want a Coke?" "Sure, I'll have a Sprite." ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  11. You, fellow dreamer, I believe!
  12. Judging from your responses so far, very subjective, you might just have what it takes to be a Skydiver. Go take the FJC, get involved and get used to having a Whuffo girlfriend that you can't throw on your back for a jump! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  13. Sounds like Tommy. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  14. There is much I won't do out of circumstance rather than desire so I won't list them. An example of that would be ==> This person (potentially not safe for work) ---------------------------------------------------------- I can think of a dozen 'meat' jokes for the sexy vegan! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  15. That's the same setup I had on my Fury-220 for years. It was intalled by Skip Summers (of Prism) and Moon Mullins after I wrapped docking 10th with no arm strength left. Just pull down on the tabs to set. You could even set it into a slow turn if you wanted. Just pull the red loops and it released. It lasted over 10 years and 800 jumps before one side snapped! Not bad. It's reliable and I loved it when flying into a strong head wind. It made for a great landing when I forgot to release it. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  16. Never been to Toronto, but that tower in the background looks familiar. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  17. Definitely Chris' work. Thanks for uploading them. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  18. When you get them onto your hard drive, post them for us. You know Chris wouldn't mind. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  19. In the past, I've brought in my packed rig and gone over its simple functionality. Ask folks to hold their questions until you finish your presentation. They'll then hit you with a million questions. Definitely know the basic fatality stats and primary causes of injury/death (mainly operator error!) good luck ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  20. Do you recall what the process was to get your airborne wings awarded? ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  21. During my time at Ft. Bragg (83-85), there was a day student school to earn your wings. It was for guys that were legs but assigned to corp or the 82nd. Train during the day and go home. I think it was 3 weeks long. Knights that made the team earned their wings this way. The 82nd team also had a set of freefall wings with the 82nd "AA" symbol in the middle. There was some dispute as to whether or not we could wear them on our class A's. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  22. Damn! Talk about come serious cross venting! How did it handle? Landings? Accuracy? ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  23. I think we have a winner with this caption!! Drive to the DZ - $20 First Jump Course - $125 First Jump Landing - No Charge! Another priceless Master Card moment! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  24. I jump the same way. Feet and knees together. Every landing is approached as a PLF until my flare shows me I can relax and stand it up or run it out. This approach has saved my butt more times than I can remember! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
