its cool... yes surprisingly it did plane out very quickly. but on my 2nd, we didnt burn it down quite as low... heh. we're a pretty big crw dz, and i'm a total newbie at crw, so i pretty much relied on what the crew dogs told me. but if you dont believe it, come out and watch :) oh, got video on it too somewhere... cool stuff. c ya! i know you've heard much advice and stuff, but just 1 thing that helped me learn... i executed numerous full cartwheels (from sit to sit) and learned to nail those, then that helped trememdously in making smooth transitions from sit to head and vice-versa. do what works for you and good luck this weekend! c ya! I just had to give major props to kelli for her hard work and dedcation on the Ugly Chicks website www.jumpergirl.com/ugn.html haha, now that the uglies are in order, we need to get a boogie going sponsered by Skydive Houston... something like the Ugly Chicks boogie #1. i will occasionally jump with my "minute" oakley's. i will usually just jump em with croakies for hop n' pops pond swooping... or the helmetless jumps such as crw. in freefall, they are just fine headdown going 150mph, no probs. but i just use the tinted goggles with my helmet because they're more comfortable with the nvertigo than oakley's are... i have a feeling this thread is going to get really long :) hehe. anyway, skydive houston is my home. there's one thing you'll always here about sdh- good people, good vibes, and ugly chicks of course. lol. but really, during the week, its mostly cessna, we'll get the otter up occasionally when there's a group of students (like this thursday!). weeknights there's really not much camping out, except on friday nights there are a few who will crash. saturday nights are the best, big bonfire, lots of beer and good fun, and of course- RANCHITO the mexican restaraunt. many will crash in the packing area or pitch a tent on saturday nights. spaceland- last time i've been there, you will usually get otter up a few times during the week, am i right? and i will not say anything negative about the dz, because it is nice facilities and i like the jumpers there as well. so anyway, hope this helps and hope to see you out at houston soon! I'm at a point now where I'm doing absolutely everything. I haven't jumped the board in about 50 jumps, but plan to get back on it in the near future. Freeflying will always be a favorite discipline. But I'm really into the swooping thing right now. It's challenging and a great adrenaline rush. So I'll have to stick with skysurfing and pond swooping as my 2 fav's. I think the same reason most people jump their dz... great vibes, good people most importantly. Always have a blast doing whatever discipline--- I'm all around: freeflying, skysurfing, RW, Crw, and even pond swooping (or attempting). Always have fun after jumping hours as well. The folks and Aggies are why I'm there. Extra conveniences are the proximity (35 minutes) and of course, an otter :) C ya! Blue Skies, Brittany S! C-31392

to phreezone: you're right on the money dude with the canopy sizing... to watcher: i'd have to disagree... if you have to dig in deep brakes every time on the safire, the flare is not powerful. when i can get a good surf out of it is only when i front riser it, but if i come in on a straight-in approach, i have to crank down the toggles. but again, every canopy's different... just my experience :) C ya! errr, from what i've heard, sabre 2 isn't *much* diff from the original sabre, except better openings. i myself own a safire and put about 300 jumps on it... its mediocre, i was gung-ho about it in the beginning, but now i'm pretty bored with it. only gets good surf when i front riser the landings, and it slams me occasionally, but i'd recommend it, its a good canopy and i definitely prefer it over the original sabre. anyway, just my .02. my solution? heh, get a crossbraced, now we're talkin ;) C Ya!
