this is a funny thread in and of itself

It is exactly what it says, and Phree slightly touched on the subject. Two that make a good one, pair that is. But instead of carbon copies, "sole" mates complement each other to form completion. I mean, who wants to walk around with just one shoe? _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

very nice dave you and i both had firsts. i had my first parachute malfunction, which in turn led to a cutaway. in short, i put my main on new risers and the toggle keepers were loose but i thought 'what the heck.' one came unstowed on opening, hence, a decently fun 3 second ride before i chopped. found all parts, will be ready for aot this weekend. that was 1 of 3 saves for the day. great now i have the mighty mouse song in my head... here i come to save the daaAAAaay. thats my storytime for the night kids. see ya friday! _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

I've politely coined the first option as "inaccuweather.com." at least for winds (general speed and direction) i've found weather.com to be better. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

Hehe, pretty fun and interesting game. However, the game itself is not consistent. In a few questions it says "God COULD." In these instances I answer True, but because God is all-powerful and CAN doesn't mean He WILL. So the game tried to shoot me down on these accusations. Oh well. Fun, yet not applicable _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

Great info, thanks. I helped a fledging base'r hook up his brand new Rock Dragon into his skydiving rig this week. I will pass on the knowledge. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

Are the references you're listing from The Bible Code? I read that, its pretty incredible. Whether it has validity I'm not 100% sure, we'll see in 2006 _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

I'm definitely down with paul, he's the fashizzle Anyway, how bout reading the Word/praying with one another? If your youth have a passion for Christ, encourage them to transfer that devotion to their dating lives as well. Finding someone 'equally yoked' is a good suggestion. Don't mean to sound textbook, of course there's much time for fun and games. Have him find his own conviction on 'how far is too far' etc. But yeah, you already told him where the line is drawn _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

Typical wingloading at diff. experience levels
brits17 replied to DZJ's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Chuck, good guidelines post. Personal: 22-100: 1:1 100-500: 1.25:1 500-900: 1.7:1 900+: 1.7:1 or 2.1:1 CRW jumpers tend to prefer their canopies somewhere around 1:1 (CRW dogs can explain much more than I) while the swoopers are anywhere above 1.3:1. Most swoopers find their best performance from 1.7-2.3 (rough estimated large range) and this is dependent on what type of canopy they're jumping. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com -
I didn't log on until tonight, but I threw in Tommy's tribute video. Thanks for the reminder, and you're awesome Chris. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

Arguments for (or against) the existence of God
brits17 replied to scottbre's topic in Speakers Corner
There you go again. Asking for proof and not saying what you want. I'm beginning to think you want God to come down in a bolt of lighting and say "hello, I am God. Nice to meet you Tuna." Now that would be funny. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com -

Arguments for (or against) the existence of God

You are quite steadfast in your allegations that there is no 'proof.' I will reiterate what Pajarito asked, "what's your standard of proof?" _______________________ aerialkinetics.com -
Arguments for (or against) the existence of God
brits17 replied to scottbre's topic in Speakers Corner
I understand your point of view, but with all due respect, I tried to answer a complex question with some sort of reason/logic to point to intelligent design. These answers are in no way 'simple' however they do not discount religion because of their complexity. Of course there are many things I don't understand, but it doesn't mean to stop seeking answers. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com -
Arguments for (or against) the existence of God
brits17 replied to scottbre's topic in Speakers Corner
i agree. i didn't say we were the only kind of life. just the only known intelligent life. of course i didn't list all reasons, that would be a book. but i just threw a few out there. the circumstances in my opinion, are pretty mind boggling. i suppose some don't see it that way and that's ok too. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com -
Arguments for (or against) the existence of God
brits17 replied to scottbre's topic in Speakers Corner
It seems many skeptics want visible proof. Have I seen God? No. I've never seen my congressman. Though I can't deny that he exists. I've seen his legislation pass, I've seen his name on the ballot list. In the same way, I can't deny that God exists. Objective Values If there is no God, then moral values are merely the products of socio-biological evolution. Or if there is no God, then morality is just a matter of personal taste. To say that the act of killing innocent children is wrong would just be an expression of taste saying, "I don't like the act of killing innocent children." Of course, anyone can look at that statement and agree, there exists objective moral values. On the atheistic view, some action such as rape may not be socially advantageous, and therefore it has become taboo in the course of human development. But that doesn't prove that rape is really wrong. In fact, its conceivable that rape could have evolved as something that's advantageous for the survival of the species. Thus, without God there is no absolute right and wrong which imposes itself on our conscience. Such things such as love, equality, and self-sacrifice are good in an objective sense. Universe complexity From Stephen Hawkings A history of Time he quotes "if the rate of the universe's expansion one second after the Big Bang had been smaller by even one part in a hundred thousand million million, the universe would have collapsed into a fireball." British physicist PC Davies has concluded the odds against the initial conditions being suitable for the formation of stars - a necessity for planets and thus, life - is a one followed by at least a thousand billion billion zeroes. Our universe seems to be fine-tuned (for intelligent life), because any small changes in the 20 or so physical constants would make it very different, and presumably not hospitable to intelligent life. For example, stars would not be able to fuse hydrogen and helium if the electric charge of the electron had been only slightly different, or if the strength of the strong nuclear force had been only 2% greater diprotons would be stable and hydrogen would fuse too easily. Another related source of astonishment is that the early universe had a very low entropy, a very unlikely situation: statistical mechanics says that the most probable state of matter has a very high entropy, a state where life is not possible. The universe is now going towards that state, according to the second law of thermodynamics, resulting eventually in heat death. This paradox can be treated in the same way as fine-tuning. I'm done typing for the night. The conditions weren't correct for a fixed object jump, so I decided to get philosophical instead (references for some text available upon request ) _______________________ aerialkinetics.com -
:12:0 Had some grand skydives this weekend. Almost a BASE, conditions didn't add up though. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

Arguments for (or against) the existence of God
brits17 replied to scottbre's topic in Speakers Corner
Since this is questioning the existence of God, not any certain belief, here is one argument for. The famous skeptic David Hume quoted "But allow me to tell you that I never asserted so absurd a proposition as that anything might arise without a cause." - from The Letters of David Hume One of contemporary philosophy's most prominent atheists Kai Nielsen once said "Suppose you suddenly hear a loud bang... and you ask me, 'What made that bang?' and I reply, 'Nothing it just happened.' You would not accept that." This is an example of how God makes sense of the universe's origin. Other reasons are 1- God makes sense of the universe's complexity (more scientific type evidence) and 2- God makes sense of objective moral values. Its late and I'm tired though. Maybe I'll type em out tomorrow. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com -
