  1. I can see Cooper after Tina turns the money down, just chucking it out the rear door. It is amazing to me that the bank or FBI didn't photograph the money with the bag before it was delivered. There are so few facts on this case I tend to agree with your assessment that the investigation, if you can call it that, was weak from the beginning. >I always write the parking garage location on my parking stubs, otherwise I can't find my car. It makes sense that Duane would have drawn a treasure map for where he buried the money, on that parking stub. I lost my car at Sky Harbor after leaving it there for a week. It was dark and I couldn't remember if it was in the east or west lot. I also lost my truck at Sacramento once when they were doing construction. The lot was gravel with no reference signs. Something I didn't know is that security drives through the parking lots and takes pictures of all the license plates. They put it in a data base and can locate your vehicle for you if you can't remember where you parked. Unfortunately my truck has a lift so the camera was to low to record the license plate so it wasn't recorded. Eventually found them both, embarrassing. 2. Snowmman says>let me guess. Your "doctor" was with you in that car that "fell" out of the skyvan, right? Man, weird how coincidences happen like that. I would never discuss confidential info like that over the intertubes. The stories I won't tell no one would believe anyway. Back on subject: if Cooper lost the money on his jump he isn't bragging to anyone about it. I can only imagine some guy bragging he's Cooper then has to admit he lost the money. That's not going to happen. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  3. Thanks Sluggo! Everyone is doing fine and my son got a chuckle out of me calling him dad. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  4. Jo posted this> > Notice that Georger, nor I, nor Sluggo, nor Safecrack and others who are vested in this investigation are currently posting. I should have been more clear to whom I was replying. I can't seem to find the original post now, but Jo was saying we were all off topic with no pertinent info and then pms me for more info on smoke jumpers saying it was an interesting post. Man I'm sure glad I got that cleared up. Snowmman said>hangdiver, we discussed that and your weed problems, that got you talking about smokejumpers. Now throw out the stash...I mean airtwardo's a grandpa, show some respect and say "congrats"...lighting a big one is supposed to be a cigar, not a doobie. snowmman you should know we call it "medication" in northern California. My doctor says so. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  5. source How factual is this story? Why do we always hear about Cossey and no one mentioned Emrich? "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  6. >for the zillionth time Jo: show your PROOF. I have seen zero evidence that Duane was a trained parachutist. I think you are posting a wish as a fact. You know 377, I still would like proof Cooper was even on that plane. I've got my girlfriend to watch and enjoy MMA fights, which really pisses her off. Now I'm trying to get her interested in the DBCooper thread so I don't always have to sneak around to read it and post. She's coming around though. I got her to watch the NGC special on Cooper and have asked her opinion as snowmman insisted. She thinks there was a bunch of "funny stuff" going on in the hijacking and also wonders if the flight crew pulled a fast one. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  7. > Notice that Georger, nor I, nor Sluggo, nor Safecrack and others who are vested in this investigation are currently posting. Then why did you pm me and say my post about smoke jumpers was interesting and ask for more info? Did Duane ever say anything about "funny stuff" ? If he did what did he mean by "funny stuff" ? edit to add}Mackenzie will become a real secret agent and solve the Cooper caper in 2040. Her dad is a Ranger. 8. Well here she is. Born Jan 12 @ 12:09 eastern 6 lbs "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  9. I see 377 is top of page, maybe he's got it figured out also. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  10. >And driving that car out of a plane? I remember watching that scene and thinking how easy it would be for someone to get trapped by something coming loose or centrifugal force. Yeah I was the old guy there but didn't look my age. They wouldn't let me jump my own gear without an AAD so the only rig I could borrow with one was a prototype rig with a prototype canopy. Unfamiliar gear + stunt= luck "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  11. >Yeah Buddy! Awesome!! Somebody always came first and before you know it you're the old guy. Guaranteed! Well unless you die young. Again, that is classic!! "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  12. >"If things go bad, you're just fucked" Like 377 said the static line progression after five stable exits on the static line you just started freefall. You were dead unless you did something yourself and saved your own life. Now really all you have are two baby sitters. You still are ultimately responsible for your own life. Call it selfish or self preservation but if your going to save someone else, first you have to save yourself. There have been instructors bounce with their students. There is protocol that should be followed in any sport like rock climbing, Ice climbing and mountain climbing. There can be a condition where you cut your climbing partner away to save yourself. I guess it happens. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  13. >I wonder if the new protocols decrease unwanted pregnancies? Any stats on that Orange? Who said anything about unwanted pregnancies? Not saying he wasn't an internet whore. I gave him the talk, if your going into battle wear your armor. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  14. >What car, what plane, how'd it go? I think it's in Joe Jennings "The Good Stuff". Out of a Skyvan and only eight seconds in the car. I could have stayed longer but when the guy with experience left I followed. It really never did settle down. I could have gone one more time but gave my slot to another. After watching the video I felt more lucky than skilled. When you see your closing pin bouncing off ever thing, in slow motion, reality kicks in. Turns out I made the right call. The guys that went got beat up pretty good. >Congrats Hangdiver! BTW, is there a path from the maternity ward to the altar....or is your son a skydiver? Thanks, last I heard still in labor. As far as the alter what ever makes them happy. I prefer to live in sin, so I'm really not the one to ask about that. He has a few jumps all military static line. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  15. >but it's really an individual thing..You fly or die alone, when it comes down to it. Snowmman you'll do just fine. Don't tell anyone and take a two week vacation to Skydive Arizona. I did and stayed there 3 1/2 years. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  16. >Overcoming, controlling fear... Then I would think it morphs into the pleasurable "oh look what I can do" after breaking thru a mental block, compared to "normal people" When I was instructing it was much easier generally to teach females than males. Males tend to muscle things like a helicopter beating the air into submission. Females on the other hand have more finesse, less over control and the ability to relax. learning to jump is more about relaxing than seeing how hard you can flap your arms. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  17. If I have it figured out I know snowmman does too. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  18. Anyone, Bueller? >edit for question mark "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  19. I'm thinking this post or the next is going to be top of page. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  20. Sounds like you're gettin all amped up to take your first leap. I hope you do. But a word of warning: it's addicting. I was wrong, my girlfriend says she doesn't think jumpers are idiots just drug addicts for the adrenaline. Knowing some of the stuff you do snowmman if you start jumping before you know it you'll be wanting to base jump off some glacier. I don't know what it is but having a parachute on my back gives me a feeling of power. Maybe power over gravity I dunno? "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  21. >And congrats on the grandfather stuff Thanks Orange1! >I'd rather be lucky than good...when I rely on 'skill' it never ends well. Yep, I remember looking at the PC bridle half-hitched around my arm thinking, I hope I'm lucky because I for sure ain't that skilled. My actual thought was "so this is how I'm gonna die". "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  22. >congrats grandpa-even-more-to-be.. Thanks snowmman! "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  23. >(edit) Maybe hangdiver is smokin' and tokin', which made him think of smokejumpers just now? Shhh... I thought no one would know. snowmman has psychic powers. >I think hangdiver is insane. He jumps out of airplanes. I've been known to drive a car out of a plane once also. I think bravery relies to much on luck. Just because you're brave doesn't necessarily denote skill. Skill relies on experience and risk management. I do have some skill but also have been real lucky. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  24. The quote was the funny stuff comment scroll down to page 4 on the pdf file it is page 92 on the transcript file that Cooper says no funny stuff. I thought it was interesting that the comment was also made involving the CIA and smoke jumpers. That's as much of a connection as anything else being discussed here. >So you're thinking a static-lining smokejumper hijacked 305 and jumped out in the night? No free-fall experience beforehand at all? I have no idea what jump experience Cooper had. Apparently he thought he knew what he was doing. >What does your girlfriend think? Wait, just give me her home phone, and I'll call her and said you thought we should have dinner and talk. Does she like wine? I don't think she gives a shit. She thinks anyone who jumps out of a plane is an idiot. Just call here I'll give her the phone, she'll probably want to talk about cpu speeds and computer shit. Yeah, white. >(edit) I was thinking about Duane's Ranger training...Could Duane have trained Cooper? I think my son mentioned Duane after he went through Ranger School. Duane is a legend... My son just called as I was writing this post to tell me his girlfriend is in labor right now. I'm gonna be a grandpa, again. Damn I feel old. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  25. I found this weird quote in an article about smoke jumpers and the CIA: 'Funny stuff' One former Evergreen Air Center official who found the company fascinating was C. Roger Fulton, vice president for administration during most of 1980. Fulton was working for a Tucson shopping mall when Evergreen hired him to help run its business office. He said he had become convinced by a number of small, undramatic happenings that the air center was still involved in covert activities. "It was a collection of funny stuff,'' Fulton said. He recalled, for example, being politely steered away from a meeting between George Doole and some of the old Intermountain hands. source That proves it! Duane was a smoke jumper who worked for the CIA. was this post on topic? only g knows... "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
